Was your pork steak a little pricey this Labor Day weekend? Experts say prices will only go up from here.

Some cuts will always be more expensive than others, but Kenrick’s Meat Market Manager Mark Paur says the high pork prices are still a result of that virus that is killing piglets. He says when the winter comes, he expects another 2.5 million hogs to die.

“That’s going to drive the prices right back up,” he says. “I do believe there are a lot of more barbecue-type restaurants where things like pork butt is going to.”
