Anthony and the rest of you uninformed critics! How can one white guy steal an entire culture’s music?! All of you who are calling Elvis a racist have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Do you even know where Elvis grew up as a child? Do you know who his influences were? He would spend hours and hours a day working in cotton fields and farms along side his mother and other black workers. He heard their music day after day and it was ingrained in him!! Mr E was born in tupelo MS in 1946. but he spent a lot of time jamming with people all over Alabama and Mississippi in his early days.
I lived there in the late 60’s and you cannot tell me that he was not generally a racist back in the late 50’s and early 60’s. I happen to be a nephew of the guy that produced Mustang Sally and The Letter (Dan Penn). The music industry down there in those days was very racist, indeed.

Hell, 20 years ago when I was listening to PE (and yes, I’m a white devil), I knew nothing about the NWO, but thought it was great with Flava-Flav running around with that big ass clock strapped to his neck, and yes, I Knew they where angry black men. As a DJ who teaches Music History to new and upcoming DJ’s, I’m well aware of the origins of Elvis’ music. Its not like its some dirty secret or something. At the time, most music was written in studio with the assitance of house musicians and producers (hmm kinda like…now?). Except back then there was no strict guarding of intellectual property.
A young talented black man would write a dozen or so tunes on a piano, with lyrics, and sell them cheap to the “Talent” that came through the door with money to record. This is the beginning of Motown, before blacks were allowed credit for it.
its not all that controversial, its certainly not secret, and it couldn’t possibly matter less in 2009.

I’m not wasting time with obvious trolls and thier 15 differant aliases.I’m just glad that some rolemodels in the black community realize they are getting sold for the Second time in History.And this time it’s by one of thier own.In a way I kind of expected it since it seemed to be 65% of his following voters were guiltstricken white people who were clueless as to his policies.By now every voter should have realized how empty campaign promises are.I post here , because I respect people who can point to other credible information sources to backup thier claims.However I unlike the Obamites am not some cult like follower.If it jives then I go with it and factfind.I live in a remote part of Maine so I don’t see much of the effect on the social economy, but from past experiences with prior recessions my gut says that after the holidays and major sporting events it will really start to bite in and sometime arround June they will have to startup with the costly diversions and other shady killer tactics.At the current rate of decay I can see it going straight through the bottom socialy by August or September.Riots, strikes,protests, and probably dead police and politicians.And just who in the hell is going to volunteer to do ANYTHING for a government that cost them thier house and puts old men and women on the street by taking thier retirement accounts?See if Obama can answer that one without refering it to “I have confidence that this NEXT stimulus package will work!”Honestly? You folks have valid points. I purchased Public Enemy’s albums from 1988 to 1991 when I was in my early twenties. And their’s were the sound tracks for the 1989 movie “Do the Right Thing”. Look, there was indeed biotry in the music industry decades back—this is why Mr. barry Gordy had to establish Motown Records in 1958. And this is why, until Michael Jackson’s Thriller Album video track, “Billie Jean”, 1982, and “Beat It”, 1983, was aired, MTV was not broadcasting ANY music videos from black (brown-skinned) recording artist. And this was before the internet, now. So there weren’t any other real venues to get heard back then when Reagan had just taken office. I know this since I along with those alive back then witnessed these sad facts.

Now hold on! I make one comment about Public Enemy’s accusation of Elvis being a racist, and suddenly I’m an “agent” who’s “taking a cheap shot” and is here to “debunk Alex”? Say what?! Public Enemy may well have some good things to say, but taking a cheap shot (there’s that term again) at Elvis isn’t one of them. I haven’t listened to much Public Enemy, but as far as politically-charged rappers go, my favorite is Paris ( http://www.guerrillafunk.com ). I listen mostly to female rappers like HWA, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Ms. Sancha, Trina, etc..

I have never really heard anyone talk or comment about the 911 Bell forged by London in commemoration for 911.
I read about this quite a while back, when it happened, & downloaded a picture, which is now hard or just impossible to locate on the Internet. I always remained curious about this.
If you research it now, there seems to be very little written about this, & there are barely any photos, of good enough resolution to see & be able to read the engraving on it.

I don’t like rap music and the negative connotations associated with it. But then I’m over 40 and maybe that’s the reason. I like ethnic music, like Latin, cultural-spirituals- music like gospel but RAP I just can’t deal with. This said, I know enough about the world to know that most AA people who agree with AJ aren’t agreeing in unity for the purpose of black/white benefit. The solidarity at best is a convenience because too many AA people view whites as the sole reason for all their ills and problems. They have been mostly hand fed a diet that white society is and will always be the enemy. When it comes down to it, we whites are only tolerated. I say all this with a great deal of sadness because I would like to believe that AA folks can look at us as individuals, NOT AS racist white devils, or with hatred and anger of something that was done to their ancestors. My grandfather was treated like crap in a mixed culture that was happening in the 20s and 30s and he didn’t pass down his rage to his children. He never had alot of money, never took advantage of people, didn’t have the advantage of a society who reached out to him to give him hope or help. He wasnt educated and had 5 children that he did the best he could to raise morally. Life was tough for all of them. I grew up in a mixed neighborhood where I was taunted by AA kids for my white skin but I didn’t grow up thinking that all AA were mean and judgemental. It was only until I made friends with a young woman in college that I realized how much a person could hate you just for your skin color. She was black and we got a long great for awhile. Then she began downing white people on this and that left and right. I looked at her and said it sounds like you think that about me too. She said yes she did and that it didn’t matter what I told her, that she would always think that I was a racist because my skin color said so. I was shocked. I told her how shortsighted she was being not to mention hypocritical as I’d just spent the last few weeks listening to her down white people almost everyday. The whole thing was very sad to me. I felt like I lost a friend and for what…because she could not give up the lifelong lesson she was taught by her family; Not to trust or like white people. Even when I asked her what white person ever did something bad to her, she said nobody but that she was entitled to see things that way. I’d just like to say here that I wish the white people and the black people and all other people could see each other as human beings. As individuals that, yes, has unique cultural histories but we are all PEOPLE and if we can’t get past this crap then our future generations (if there are any left) will keep perpetuating the cycle of victimization, hatred, misunderstanding. I hope if things go down like AJ says it is, that black Americans, white Americans and ALL Americans will stop looking at color and base their judgement on common ground (AS PEOPLEe) and step outside of their comfort zones and the things they were taught to believe about people of other colors. We are all victims here with the happening of the NWO. And most of us, at some point in our lives regardless of color have experienced painful rejection based on how we looked, how smart we were, how much money our parents made or what neighborhood we lived in. It’s how you’ve chosen to live regardless of your circumstance that makes the character of the person and if they are capable of having compassion and understanding for one another.

I adore Professor Griff from back in the day. I was watching the NFL commercials, and in the fourth quarter they have Alec Baldwin stating that television doesn’t harm you, it just turns your brain into slush, and they (aliens) eat it. There was an alien coming out of his jacket. I guess when the aliens/demonic angels are let out on the set, we will be so desensitized that we won’t give it a second thought. The ad was for hulu.

We should be careful about embracing Griff, although he has much more of a clue than many, he has some anti-semetic baggage. Truth movement people get enough problems being accused of this baselessly, if we take Griff onboard, it does give ammo to those who want to label us that way. We need to keep making it clear, that those rights we are fighting to reclaim are for ALL peoples, regardless of race, religion, gender or other labels.
