Red Cross finds Bush administration guilty of war crimes

In a secret report last year, the Red Cross found evidence of the CIA using torture on prisoners that would make the Bush administration guilty of war crimes, The New York Times reported Friday.
The Red Cross determined the culpability of the Bush administration after interviewing prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, according to the article.
Prisoner Abu Zubaydahwho said he had been waterboarded, "slammed against the walls" and confined in boxes "so small he said he had to double up his limbs in the fetal position."
The information comes from a new book written by Jane Meyer, who has frequently published articles concerning counter-terrorism in The New Yorker.
The book is titled "The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned Into a War on American Ideals," and will be released next week.
Mayer cited "sources familiar with the report" to explain the confidential document as a warning "that the abuse constituted war crimes, placing the highest officials in the U.S. government in jeopardy of being prosecuted."

The report was submitted to CIA last year and concluded that American interrogation methods are "categorically" torture that violates both domestic and international law, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow reported Friday.
Although the CIA had already admitted to the use of waterboarding, Meyer says in the book that several CIA officers confirm the findings of the Red Cross, including the other forms of torture mentioned.
Maddow called George W. Bush a "torture-approver-in-chief who has yet to be held to account for anything" and said that congressman Dennis Kucinich had reintroduced his articles of impeachment against the president.
Maddow questioned constitutional law expert Johnathan Turley about the development.
"The problem for the bush admin is that they perfected plausible deniability techniques," Turley said. "They bring out one or two people that are willing to debate on cable shows whether waterboarding is torture and it leaves the impression that its a closed question.
"It’s not. It’s just like the domestic surveillance program that the federal court said just a week ago was also not just a closed question."
When asked by Maddow if the chances are now greater that Bush will be prosecuted now or after leaving office by the international community, Turley compared the situation to Serbia in the early 90s.
"I’d never thought I would say this, but I think it might in fact be time for the United States to be held internationally to a tribunal. I never thought in my lifetime I would say that."

I serve my country in the US Air Force and my Brother in the US Army. Now I don’t say that as a mark of courage or respect as each of us serves the republic (not the government) in our own manner.
I’ll simply say this.. my Brother and I and thousands more have been thrown in to a meat grinder called war. Now my Brother works in the motor pool and I work on aircraft so neither of us has anything to do with torture. But we are regularly deployed an consistantly need to dodge bullets and shelling.
You sit there comfortable at your home PC typing away being an antagonist. Fair enough, we will uphold the Constitution as long as possible to ensure people like you can have the freedom to vomit out words of your choosing.
It seems this is a game to some of you. Some kind of crazy false left / right – conservative / liberal verbal shoot-out. But I tell you, when a billy club is swinging down at your head, when a man is running in your direction strapped with explosives, when your buddy is next to you talking then you hear a loud noise and look over to see your buddy’s head is half missing, when roving gangs come to take your food supply at gun point, when you find yourself being tazed for asking a cop a calm question, and when your eyes are opened to the possibility that the bad guys pulling the strings on the whole thing have designed a system where good people bicker and banter between each other in a divided fasion, and when our government effectively takes away our freedoms in order to protect our freedoms, when one some or all of these things come in to your life in a harcore physical fasion. Then and only then will you wake up and realize how small you were.
I tell you that you are each a giant. Do not be sold a bill of goods saying that you are minor as it only takes a handful of good people to make the ground shake and the cowards with false power tremble and urinate.
Small steady steps you will realize what is happening. from military people, I listen. This is something I have been trying to tell people, that, you guys
are patriots, as are many police officers, and not everyone in uniform is against the Bill of Rights.
ALOT of us worry about our soldiers because we know you are being stretched with too many
rounds of duty, and you get farted off by the VA when you get home and need medical care for
injuries sustained in the war. Some of us also know that our soldiers are commiting suicide at an alarming rate, which isn’t reported on mainstream media. And some of us know about our own
getting taken out by our own to cover up for Cheney’s deals in Iraq.
Please know that not everyone who blogs on this site is a soft idiot. Many are former servicemen

Not everyone in the military has lost their senses and more need to come together to make sure when the time comes they will not be fighting for the wrong side.
Our society has been dominated for too long, our minds have been controlled so well, that it is going to take people seeing their friends and family killed for power and control.
I will never let my freedom be taken away, and when the time comes to fight I’ll die for the future of a free, prosperous planet. So tell your friends and families now that there is a serious threat that we free minded people will soon be slaughtered in a fight against this world corruption.
Awake people’s minds in your communities, help them understand what’s happening to us. We all need to understand our true importance as an individual to stand in the way of tyranny. Each and every one of us is an extremely powerful being capable of great contributions to man, for the relevant progress of humanity.

You may be encouraged if you have a look at the military names listed on the patriotsquestion911 site. When you come across Lt Col (ret) Bob Bowman, you are looking at a picture of a true US patriot, I have been with him for over a week and heard three of his speeches, his loyalty is to the US constitution, period.

To No 28, you should be doing a lot more research, start with the site mentioned and then you might realise that the “war on terrorism” has been planned and concocted by your own administration to have you thinking exactly what you have been. War crimes are the least of their concern. smoking marijuana is the highest offense. He can kill all he wants but if he smokes so much as one joint he will not be prosecuted.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Monday night that Mideast terrorists are determined to obtain nuclear weapons and when they do, they will use them on New York City.
“They’re going to attack American again and again,” Netanyahu told Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes.” And the great danger that we face is….. if they acquire nuclear weapons – if any part of this terror network acquires nuclear weapons, they will use it. And history as we know it will come to a pass.”
In an exchange with Sean Hannity, the one-time Israeli chief said there is no doubt which city would be first on the terrorist nuke target list.
HANNITY: America needs to understand, if they get nuclear weapons they already have the willingness to use them. If we allow that to happen, if we don’t win that race, (then) the world is a much more dangerous place for our children.
NETANYAHU: Not a more dangerous (world) — they’ll drop it in New York. They’ll drop it right here — right in the place where we sit.

I don’t think anything will come of this. We have seen so many laws broken, ignored, and re-interpreted. What makes this any different? This story will be quickly throttled back as the propaganda machine wills it and the entire story will be forgotten. We the people already don’t support our Government, but none of that matters to the average person if they are struggling to survive and just make ends meat. 19 years ago when I was 13 years of age, my father sat me down and let me know why from the age of 4 I was instructed on firearm usage and survival tactics. He was already heavily involved with top secret military-and defense projects and learned first hand what kind of people were really in charge. He told me that there was a war coming. A war that unless united, the people of these great United States would lose. The second American Revolution and 2nd American Civil War.
I think we need to slow our pace when it comes to making accusations and assertions using unreliable and un-confirmable information. Some are spreading the message too thick. Wild stories and accusations that are just what they heard off this site, YouTube, and others like it. We are informed but each of us has little or no proof when cornered by opposition. Some of the accusations and stories are so outlandish or un-provable we begin to look like cooks. I’m sick of being painted like a cook! We need to organize and really start to fight back, but not as crazies, but with a uniform and sensible message. We need to stop giving people reason to think of us as cooks.
We need a Document, with ALL the Infractions with ALL the relevant (factual) data, and with sources (confirmable) listed. It needs to be easily read, and well written. We need a manifesto. We need to become better organized and a REAL FORCE to be reckoned with. Otherwise, the informed population will continue to be looked at like cooks and dismissed. If this movement fails we will have aloud ourselves to be defeated by our own hands.

Good idea asking the prisoners how they are treated, we know they will be honest. So a few prisoners may have been ‘tortured’. They still get off easy compared to captured Americans. Maybe we should treat enemy prisoners the way they treat American prisoners – torture, mutilation, and beheading. Would that make everyone happy?

Sometimes if the accusation is serious enough it sticks. Sometimes it fails because it’s too serious to be believable. Yes Bill Clinton having sex with an intern, well plenty of us would if we could get away with it and it’s scandolus but not exactly that bad. Easily believed. Sanctioning torture is far worse and not very sexy, so better not believe it.
