A felon freed after he could not be returned to Haiti after Obama halted deportations to the island nation following the January 2010 earthquake.

Instead, after becoming a twice-convicted felon in 2006 and serving five years in prison, Kesler Dufrene was simply released in October 2010 rather than being deported as ordered by an immigration judge. Less than two months after his release, the drifter who lived in Manatee Country, Florida slaughtered three people, including a 15-year-old girl, on Jan. 2, 2011, after breaking into a home.

Investigators never had the opportunity to interrogate him. Just 18 days after the murders, Dufrene shot and killed himself when he was cornered by police after an unrelated break-in and shooting in nearby Bradenton, Florida.
