Washington DC— Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-35), Chairwoman and co-founder of the Out of Iraq Congressional Caucus, issued the following remarks in advance of House consideration of the Defense Authorization for FY 2009, which authorizes nearly $70 billion in emergency war funding:
The Defense Authorization for FY 2009 to be voted on today under suspension of the rules is unacceptable. This package will give President Bush an additional $70 billion to continue the war in Iraq as he sees fit. We cannot give another blank check for the President’s war that the taxpayers just can’t cash.
The timing for this additional funding could not be worse. American taxpayers are facing a $700 billion bailout package to stem the crisis in the financial markets which has threatened to wipe out their savings, their homes and their jobs. In May, Congress granted President Bush’s request for $170 billion in war funding that was supposed to last well into next year. And last month, the Government Accountability Office reported that Iraq will generate an estimated $86 billion revenue surplus this year, primarily driven by the high price of oil being paid by Americans and others.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that language constraining the conduct of the war has been stripped from the House and Senate passed versions of the legislation. The measure does not include a ban on private interrogators in U.S. military detention facilities, does not include a freeze on the hiring of private contractors, and does not include congressional veto power over the planned security pact with Iraq.
It is an ominous coincidence that the price tag of the war in Iraq is nearly the same as the $700 billion price tag of the bailout package for the U.S. financial industry. I cannot in good conscience support additional funding for the Iraq War without a significant change in policy. The political reconciliation between Iraq’s competing factions promised to us by the Bush Administration has yet to materialize with an enormous American military presence occupying Iraq. The only acceptable solution remains fully funding the safe and swift redeployment of our troops from Iraq.

You know only last night I was at a private house for a dinner party. As I sat listening to the after dinner conversation that was being given around me. I began to realize just how out of touch most people are. The people in question around the table are educated people; economist, Doctor of English Language, Teachers. Now when the conversation turned to the TV series of “Big Brother´´ I just could not take anymore. I stood up and exclaimed in a firm but calm voice that we are killing each other for oil rights and the world is suffering from economic constipation….. and you talk about crap issues and topics !!!
I then filled them in on the absolute madness that is going down in The USA economically and hence the rest of the civilized world by connection. The economist gentleman then came back at me and said that it is just a cyclical occurrence and not to worry…. HELLO???? When I said to him that the world was in a financial breakdown and not just a recession/depression he did not know what to say!
My point being here is that the situation in the world today is madness beyond belief. The reason is people are dumbed down by a false paradigm fed through the crap they watch every day on TV and mass media. The points made in this article above are scary and indicate that The USA is going down fast without a parachute and your politicians are taking you to the black hole of economic disaster and the world in tandem with them. I am convinced that common sense must prevail but sense to some is not common!!! Let’s see what happens next????

Hey Kev, I hear you man. In my city people are caught up in gangbanging. They are totally disconnected from reality; it is sad that even educated people are like this.

how can americans believe anything that comes out of the mouth of the worst administration in the history of the USA? Since when has this lying Nazi banker pimp controlled administration told the truth?? Start waking up your neighbors tell them the mainstream media is owned by the same criminal syndicate that owns the presidency. Tell them the Mainstream media has been protecting the criminals that are looting us and destroying the value of our dollar. You are progressively working harder for less and less each day thanx to the inflation caused by the mountain of corrupt maggots that this mainstream media is protecting. You are paying for your own enslavement because of this corruption , it shows up in the value of your money which has lost value and making you more enslaved . If you like slavery just shut up and enjoy working harder and harder for less each day .. It will get to the point where you will have to work all day just to have a small meal for yourself If Americans continue to buy the lies that comes out of our politicians and mainstream media.

Kev……………… You are right. I talk about this to my own family, I send them e-mails with links, I send them videos of news and do you know what they e-mail me ?????? LLLMMAAOO, that “Survivor” is starting tonight, or “Prison Break” is on, etc. This is the kind of shit I deal with everyday. I just don’t understand people and this is my own family. A lot of times I have better luck with strangers on the internet then with them. I just feel like leaving them all behind and just getting out of dodge. I’m tired of it and I’m just not doing it anymore. I really pray to God that at least other people wake up because there just are not enough informed right now.

We all feel the pain of being surrounded by idiots.. we spend so much of our time reading, learning, watching what’s going on in the world and how the do-do is about to hit the fan, and we want to tell and warn our families and friends.. and they just don’t get it, and they just don’t care. They live in the Matrix, and that’s how they want it to be!
Just like the militia spin video that was posted the other day said.. “people are going to get what they deserve”, and he couldn’t have been more correct!
The time for warning others is over. Get your food, gold/silver/lead, Berkey and other necessities, grab a bowl of popcorn and a beverage, and sit back and watch the show. People will remember you because you tried to tell them before and they will want help afterwards, but all you gotta do then is say there’s nothing they can do, so they might as well go back to watching football, tv, or cars driving around in a circle. Everything is going to be “ok”! Hah!

# 1 Kev & #4 Maria
I feel your pain and sympathize with you. However, there are a couple of more elements contributing to the dumbing down: Flouride in the water and Monsanto (see video “World According to Monsanto”) http://revolutionarypolitics.com/?p=163. This was banned here in the U.S. (they have atrocities to hide). Research the fluoride and watch the documentary. What you learn on this video is shocking and egregious, especially the players involved! Yet, it explains why ignorance is so rampant. Be very, very watchful of what we eat and drink…

September 25th, 2008 at 9:51 am
MARIA im experiencing the very same thing. it seems the busier they are with their job making more money vacations etc… the less they know or care to know. alex said it best when shit hits the fan its not the poor im most worried about having to defend myself against its the middle and upper class people.

#3 Mainstream I couldn’t agree more. Through their incomplete, uninformed and unbalanced reporting, many members of the media covering the war in Iraq, politicians and corporations are aiding and abetting the enemy. Obviously, they are also affected by my previous post but, moreover it is a punishable crime.
September 25th, 2008 at 10:14 am
Well the USA has been conditioned to believe their government, obey their wishes and to make dissenters shut the fuck up and make ‘em look like idiots. No substance at all, it’s programming. The recent California education news proves that, again. Indoctrination.
That economist fellow, trust me, knows nothing about the workings of the illegal Federal Reserve, it’s illegal implementation in 1913. They don’t teach them that stuff. They never will. It’s doubtful they say the truth about what the system actually does. The economist fellow has likely laid down in his bed tonight and said to his wife that you are one fucking nutcase.
Sad, I tell you.

Reading these posts has been very healing to my troubled soul. I feel like I’m around like minded sufferers.

Congress ought to just end this charade and have Bernake and his band of monkeys arrested and end the damn meetings. Enough is enough. Give the billions to the people who deserve it most and to whom the money should belong in the first place: the American citizens – the ripped off involuntary tax payers.

I think everyone should have a good laugh every now and then to keep balance in life and keep from going insane. I watch “The Office” to get my laugh on. At the same time there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about what’s happening here in the U.S. and the rest of the world. I stopped some time ago trying to force truth down people’s throats. I present the info to them in a calm manner by talking to them or just posting links. Those that trully desire to know the truth will eventually start to ask questions as things get worse. For now all I can do is trust God to bring us through this and stock up on the necessary supplies. I may run out though b/c no one else in my family is preparing.
Even though I don’t know any of you, I love you all and I’m willing to share any info or supplies that may help. This is going to be devastating to say the least.

I feel the same way Kev. I am made to feel like a “no planer” when I bring up the subject of the economic collapse and/or our freedoms being eroded. People do not want to be bothered because they have been brainwashed to believe that “everything is okay.”
September 25th, 2008 at 10:26 am
To Kev #1,
From one Kev to another, I appreciate your frustration. I left the states in 1991 because, as a taxi driver in San Francisco, I couldn’t stand to see homeless women and children begging in the financial district in one of the richest cities in supposedly the richest country in the world. Well, my eyes were opened to the truth when I moved to Europe. Americans pay taxes in order to fund a military that is in all the countries of the world where corporate interests are in need of protection. What the hell do americans get for their tax money? The freedom of speech in a free speech zone? Great health care for all? A social network keeping a roof over their heads when they fall on hard times? One month paid vacation when they’re working? Americans should ask themselves what do they get for their tax money other than supporting dictators, killing innocent people, crumbling roads and infrastructure, and the worst health care in the western world.

LOL, so mindlessly like Chevy Chase in the roundabout in European Vacation. Yet, it is so true!
I am finding lots of humor in the comments here today. Very entertaining bunch here…:)

I listed to Waters yesterday on C-SPAN, she is completely ridiculous. She was talking about making sure minorities were involved with the auction of these securities. We have huge fund managers stepping forward offering to do it for FREE OR $1/year… and she wants a team of EEO affirmative action bankers getting paid billions to do it….. PURE EVIL

The usual people who started and ran the Money Bombs for both Ron Paul and I believe did for Alex Jones also, are now attempting to run one for a chosen third party candidate if they get enough signed up backers. Now that a candidate seems to have become the most preferred, I recommend going to this website………
http://www.thirdpartyticket.com/
It is called “Third Party Ticket”. This is the central point at this time, even though it was not known that it would be because of Dr. Paul’s Chuck Baldwin endorsement since it started last week, that will get anything as a group that is organized done. Go there and read about it and become part of it. Tnx.

The war, the crisis, was scripted years ago, now everyone of the actors has the part to play either to be outraged or in favor of said play. They’ll make millions per person per act, so you can believe that they’ll follow the script to the letter. When you listen to the script, some of them let little things slip out and you can catch it and its kinda funny when ya hear it because it makes you wonder what the penalty for slipping is.
