The escalating drug war in Mexico has now made America’s southern neighbor a more dangerous place than Iraq, according to Strategy Page, a military affairs Web site.
“This month, about 26 people a day are dying from criminal and terrorist violence a day in Iraq. That’s a bit lower than the death toll in northern Mexico, which on a bad day (like last November 3rd) saw 58 people killed,’’ the Web site writes in a headlined post, “Mexico: Iraq is Safer.”
“The police are generally helpless, hundreds of thousands of middle-class Mexicans have fled the border region, often to the United States (if they had dual-citizenship, which many do),” Strategy Page continues. “Those without money must hunker down and wait for someone to win this war. The drug gangs show no signs of weakening, although the army believes that it can prevail in the next year or so.”
At least 7,000 people have been killed in a two-year war between the Mexican government and major drug cartels along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the University of San Diego Trans-border Institute. The war was triggered by a decision by President Felipe Calderon in 2007 to reclaim major areas of the border from the control of huge drug cartels and their private armies. Calderon has deployed an estimated 45,000 army troops and 18,000 police officers in 18 states in Mexico.

Yes, here comes the chance for the greedy americans to get access to mexican oil, go for it, you don’t have any scruples left, what does it matter?
December 15th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
It’s pretty ironic that our black op agencies use these cartels to mule in and out whatever, but this is rediculous…….must tie into Obammy’s first test of his presidency……….
December 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
get a gun and take care of your own asses, and dont do drugs , drugs are bad OKAYYYY.
December 15th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
How much do we want this “war on drugs”. This unconstitutional war has caused increased violence and extreme poverty for our neighbors to the south. In response, our neighbors want to live in our country… how can you blame them? Be grateful they are only coming for our jobs, and not our lives. Soon, the borders will become erased, and this war on drugs in Mexico, will become the war in your neighborhood.
December 15th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Make the drugs legal and you’ve got a pretty good start.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:29 am
Well duh !!!! where do you think speed and smack come in from. Oh yea I forgot coke. How do you think the alphabet men make money . Poisoning our own streets.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:46 am
Why does the government have to be involved in everything? I would like to ask you lunatics one question, do you believe that there’re terrorists in this World? second, do you believe that some groups of people are criminals, and third what threats do you think the US faces today….apart from the “NWO” please. If you guys do not understand that Muslims have never peacefully co existed with anyone..way before the days of Rothschild and J P Morgan, then you need help. Second, if you guys are so myopic to only blame the “NWO” for all the nations ills, then you’re sicker than we think. Third, Mexican gangs and any other drug cartels are a cancer on society that need to be fought with all the power of the US government.
America is at a cross roads, if America seizes to be a super power there will be dark days ahead for this world because the USA is still the greatest force for good in this world. If the Russians or the Chinese or even the weak secular Europeans are allowed to replace the US, there appeasement tactics will see us all sold out to tryranny and dictatorship. This garbage that all people are equal is going to kill us all. If that was so why do we have 1st world and 3rd world countries? The Christians need to unite and reject homosexuality and sexual immorality. We need to re-inforce the principles of hard work and thrift, we do not need to be spending what we don’t have. Second, we need to go back to the good old family values, from the family is where we raise our heroes and the leaders of tomorrow. Moreover, Americans need to be equiped with the right values and tools to compete globally. We do not need to be isolated, we need to prove to the world that free people produce the best goods and are the pioneers of civilization
December 16th, 2008 at 2:01 am
this problem is so ridicoulous.. i totally agree with mad man.. if you make the effin drugs legal!!!! i live in mexico and i know that would be the solution this wouldnt be happening how stupid can the mexican goverment be.. i guess vicente fox and calderon are down with the North American Union..

Why don’t people look to the Scriptures for answers as to what will happen to Babylon? America by the way is the revived Babylonian/Roman empire of the Scriptures…it is the modern Israel of the Scriptures too, as the gestalt of the evidence shows…
The prophet Jeremiah, in 626 BC warned about the illegal alien Mexican invasion of America as recorded in Jeremiah 51:2:”I will send foreigners to Babylon to winnow her and to devastate her land; they will oppose her on every side in the day of her disaster.” …he further says in chapter 50 that America will be surrounded by her enemies and will be utterly destroyed for her sins….and Jeremiah 51:3 says that America’s entire army will be destroyed, totally and utterly…don’t hang on Alex Jones’s every words…how it will supposedly be the US army doing the destroying…the nations who will be doing the destroying are listed by their ancient names in Isaiah and Jeremiah (and their comparison with modern maps show who they are today).
Think this is all bulls---? Why don’t you look at all of the websites that document the thousands of UN-passenger type vehicles, along with the thousands of UN-marked military vehicles, that are in the US and have been for about 14 years already, stored at various US military and government installations all over America, and well guarded….the UN forces will be comprised of those nations that the Scriptures state will invade Babylon/America… Look to the Scriptures for answers to what the very near future holds…not Alex Jones and other end times false prophets claiming the NWO will be defeated.
http://www.artisanpublishers.com is a very good information source for who modern Israel is…(The Lost Ten Tribes…and how they were prophesied to be in the Isles of the West (Britain and her offshoots/America) in the End Times…Britain in Hebrew literally means “covenant land”…its not an accident…the Most High is always in control….(Isa 42:4, 41:1, 5, 51:5, 24:15, 42:12, 49:1-3, 12, Jer 3:18, Jer 3:18, 23:8, 31:10-12…HOS 1 and 2….and many more)

I have researched 8 presidents back to Jfk and I have concluded that every president has went through a major crisis ….. Obama will also go through a major crisis , whether it be economic , terror attacks or both . I think it will be Something very overwhelming and hard to deal with so everyone get prepared !!!! Alex thanks for the preperation , I am happy that I am mentally prepared for the future ! Check out the research I have done and please support my cause !

Marcus:
Remember that Islam is a young religion. It is about as old as Christianity in 1440. Christianity was surely more violent then than Islam is now. Besides, Muslims in the Middle East have been the most violent when dealing with an invading force, such as the British colonists, Russian and American occupation forces and various Islamic empires and kingdoms throughout history.
To answer your question: The government has to be involved in everything because the government is obsessed with power. My question: Why must every evil act be a coincedence in which the government is not involved?
Another thing: people are more likely to die from peanut poisoning or a lightning strike than in a terrorsit attack.

Even Elvis has a good point.
Mexico has declared WAR ON US.
Enticing their citizens to come to the US to flood us with their folks.
Even in Wisconsin we have a major problem with Ilegals.
Tell me what is the common factor here?
December 16th, 2008 at 7:00 am
so why then is our military in oakland? they should be much further south.
December 16th, 2008 at 7:08 am

The U.S. Government has done it’s share with the lax enforcement of immigration law for decades, which itself promotes hiring illegals. So, it’s not so much Mexico—and much less the Mexican people—that has declared war on the U.S.; the U.S. Government has declared war on the American people, and the people of the World, for that matter.
Get it straight; don’t promote hate.
December 16th, 2008 at 7:10 am
Because as you all should know, the troops arent here to deal with ‘external’ threats…

Don’t hate Mexicans, dude. Listen, if you do that, you’re falling into the elite’s game; they want us to hate each other. Divide and conquer.
December 16th, 2008 at 8:40 am
The Federal Mexican Government ARE the drug dealers. They know where the druglords live and hide and they don’t go after them. It’s only been getting worse since Calderon took possession of the presidency (Lopez Obrador was clearly the landslide winner in the popular vote)…It’s the same as in the US, but it’s just more blatant and in your face down there. I tend to think this is so because Mexico has a lot more resources than the entire U.S. does and there’s also a lot more actual individual freedom over there than over here.
God, please give us a break!!
December 16th, 2008 at 8:41 am
Oh and truthers…PLEASE stop smoking dope and doing their drugs…You’re only adding to the problem if you use drugs. No one can preach about freedom when they’re indulging in the very tools of slavery.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:05 am
The Mexican Government, under Felipe Calderon, has an alliance with the Sinaloa Cartels (in the Mexican west coast). That’s why they are deploying troops to northern border cities like Matamoros, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo and Juarez. They want to eliminate the Gulf Cartel and the Juarez Cartel, so they can have a total takeover. The Mexican troops killing northern drug dealers are doing the dirty work for the Sinaloa cartel and they don’t even know it.
It’s been happening for way longer than 2 years, but the reason why you now see it all over the news more often is to promote the political agenda of “Plan Mexico” aka “Plan Merida”, in which the Mexican Military receives millions of US Dollars in funding, and companies like Blackwater receive juicy security contracts in Mexico.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:24 am
For post #23… Blackwater will actually receive security conracts for the US-Mexican border -not Mexico… my bad.

Don’t leave out the officials here in the U.S. with their drug related buddies on the border also, obviously you have that jerk US attorney Sutton in Texas who sided with a drug smuggler against our own lawmen. You speak of corruption, it’s right on our doorstep.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:45 am
#8 Marcus Gronholm –> Muslims were scapegoats on 9/11 … yes there are real terrorists but they are used like pawns played off against the real enemy of the NWO:
free and independent people.
the drug war is a farce, and like #21 JR Guerra says… the MExican troops are only used to go after the competition… not the source of the problem. Just like the alphabet men in our country (i.e. Oliver North) who bring in their own supply, are fully supportive of taking down their competition.
Everything is a lie.
December 16th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Last time I checked, there is a war on drugs.
That means you started it, they are going to defend their business by all means necessary.
Blackwater defends the government officials and it’s companies.
So their role if any would be to defend the auto plants and jobs we sent down there.
And just like Iraq, if we send troops, Al Qaeda will pop up there. So what??right…
There will always be corrupt officials in a poverty country when dealing with drugs.
Just like the mafia, they only start killing people who step on their turf and take away their profits.
Sounds to me like their is more to this than just what they are reporting.
December 16th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
To solarnyc post #26:
The issue being discussed here is about crime, corruption, border security and national sovereignty. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. Your provocateur comments will not work here.
December 16th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Pure BS propaganda. I live in Mexico and feel safer here than in Austin, TX. Stop spreading the propaganda. Heaven forbid Americans find out that Mexico is safe and a great place to live. They might leave. You are aiding the govt in keeping people captive in the us.
BTW, the same border wall you cry for to keep mexicans out is the same wall that the NWO will use to keep you in.
Wake up! you are being used as propaganda tools. The US built up anti iraqi fever in the media before the unjustified attack They continually lie, and yet you still believe their garbage.
December 16th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Alex, dont give me that crap about rampant mexican corruption. The US is more corrupt than just about any other country. They just do it more discreetly. Often legally. At least in Mexico its they’re honest and up front about it. You’re a hypocrite.
December 16th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
just imagine. drugs legalized would end this territory gang war and drug traffic all together forever and completely
December 16th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Anyone coming to the US through Mexico illeaglly fears one thing and that’s Mexican Banditos. The mexican bandit’s will take what ever they want, rape and murder. The US gives illegal’s a sandwitch and juice and a ride back to the border.
December 16th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
End The War On Drugs And Prohibition And The Gang War In Mexico Will Fall Apart.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
My dad goes down to TJ (from here in San DIego) to get his dental work done. A couple weeks ago, he went down there and coming back across they decided to pull him over and give him the typical runaround/test. It took an extra half hour of his time. Anyways, he said he could see at least 100 agents around, maybe two of them white. I hate that Fu**in place!
December 16th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
I wanted to add that there’s now a 100 mile expansion across the border, back into the US. In other words, the bandito’s can do their thing up to that point.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Well…. if anyone thinks that a bunch of fat Mexicans with high power guns and gold necklaces are in control of a multibillion dollar business, I believe a re-examination of facts needs to be done… yes, I say facts and not opinions…
* USA, probably the greatest consumer of illegal drugs.
* Mexico does not have a gun manufacturing facility and all is imported and/or smuggled across its borders.
* Last Lear jet that went down in Merida loaded with drugs used to belong to CIA
* Some airports (ft. Lauderdale and Cancun) have very little control over airplane activity.
* A word on drugs is being fought for as far as I can remember and does not seem to have an end soon.
* Most of the drug lords are captured in Mexico and very few in the USA.
* Both Mexico and USA have corrupt governments.
To say Mexico it is more dangerous than Iraq just on the number of people death is certainly a comparison. Another comparison among the two countries.. one in invaded by USA soldiers and the other by CIA and DEA agents.
A powerful someone has an interest that the war on drugs never ends nor that drugs are legalized; at any cost
December 16th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Hey GringoSOB, how about a few facts? In Ciudad Juarez alone, 1,500 homicides have taken place this year alone. To put that in perspective, America’s most murderous city in 2007 was Detroit, with 418. In fact, the top three cities; Detroit, Baltimore and New Orleans all totaled 856. Did you get that? The top three homocide cities in the U.S. in 2007 totaled 57% of the homicieds in ONLY Juarez this year – and the year isn’t finished!
Juarez schools were forced to close due to the violence and having very close friends in El Paso, I can tell you that tourism has essentially stopped. One friend of mine has a great uncle in Mexico City who passed away this year and opted not to take his kids to the funeral due to the high level of kidnappping.
The chip on your shouder seems to preclude your ability to see that we are actually on the same side of the fight, which is against ALL government corruption. You won’t find much more intense scrutiny against the US government than you will here, yet you seem to maintain that this attack on Mexican corruption is somehow out-of-bounds. All corrupt governments, not only those in the North American continent need to be held to account. If we can somehow embrace our similarities rather than bicker over our differences and manage to come together in the fight against all of this unlawful theft of freedom, that theft will halt and lost freedom will one day be restored.
December 16th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
This is media crap. How many Americans been killed.
Only the ones involved in the corruption and drugs.
I fell safer in Mexico than the cities in the US. The axiom is
mind your own business and youll be ok.

You know, Genocide#42, when it really hits the fan over here, we’ll be in much worse shape than you down there. More of your culture is still agrarian so you have the know-how and experience to grow your own food supply and undoubtedly can do with far less than we can. Over here, our decadence come back to haunt us as we stand in the bread lines. I guess another glaring difference is that your people have been disarmed. Perhaps you could have taken your country back already had that not been the case. God bless us all, my friend. We’re in for some rough days.

#21 JR Guerra:
López Obrador is just another corrupt politician; so, don’t come here and try to make that piece of s--- demagogue sound like the people’s hero and savior.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
This story is not neccesarally true. Border agents don’t use deplited uranium. There’s no toxic fires burning anywhere. They aren’t getting electricuted in the showers. There are no roadside bombs. There’s no blackwater. There’s not thousands coming back crippled for life, or with the mental problems that happen. Compared to iraq its pretty quiet. For now.
December 18th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Roaddog,
I’m sure that the families of the 58 people who were killed last month don’t think it’s pretty quiet. It took a lot more than 2 years for the death toll to achieve it’s current level in iraq.
December 18th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
to me this reads like propaganda – it would be interesting to see these stats against all the daily deaths per capita in Mexico and similar countries…
the poor grammar in the article is also a tell.

I agree with the Mexican Guy. Truly the ones who pull the strings want us to hate one another. They also have an war agenda and unfortunately Mexico along with Pakistan is being targeted at this time. These hired killers who are creating all of this chaos are part of the plan. There are plenty of people over here who do not want to go the US. Those who are doing so do not understand the times we are living in. It is puzzling whether there are groups stirring people with misinformation to cross the border or perhaps they still think it is a “land of milk and honey?”
I have been asking people all over Mexico to pray for the protection not only of the Mexican people, but also for the American citizens who are in danger. I live in Mexico and the majority of the people here work six days a week and are very hard working people and good neighbors. There is a non-denominational intercessory group that is crying out to God to stifle this demonic activity.
Mexican children are all required to learn English now. So stop and think before you submit so much hate mail because a large percentage now can read English. Over here there is deep respect for the US and every country by the media. There is not this continued murmuring about this group and that group. And yet you bombard us with declarations of war and hatred. May God change your hearts before it is too late. You should know by now that all this chaos is being committed by international organized crime. Just compare the international news and you will see that it is very similar.
Most people over here don’t even know there is a crisis unless they hear about it in the news. Because people continue with their daily commitments and business is the same as usual. I love Mexico and it is a joy to live here.
March 2nd, 2009 at 5:36 pm
Well we all know whose fault it is … W….. Don’t worry folks Barack Hussein Obama will come down from the mountain and raise his arms and part the seas and build a border of words to protect the southern US border. After all he was a community organizer!
