Robertson Advocates Israel Striking Iran Before The 2008 Election

On yesterday’s edition of The 700 Club, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson sharply criticized the “moderate tone” the Bush administration has allegedly taken toward Iran and its nuclear weapons program. Robertson advocated that Israel look out for the “survival of its nation” and “make some kind of a strike” against Iranian nuclear facilities. He also predicted that it will likely happen before the 2008 elections:
But nevertheless, I think we can look in the next few months for Israel to make a strike — possibly before the next election — because I think George Bush — to use the term an “amber light” — he’s given the amber, the yellow light, saying, “Caution, but go ahead.”

Robertson’s predictions often turn out to be wrong. In 2004, Robertson claimed that the Lord told him it would “be like a blowout” re-election for President Bush. (Bush ended up receiving just 51 percent of the vote.) In 2006, he incorrectly predicted that “the outcome of the war and the success of the economy will leave the Republicans in charge.”
He does, however, have an inside track into the Bush administration. Last year, Robertson’s Regent University estimated that one in six of its graduates were employed in government work. Approximately 150 served in the Bush administration.
Today, top McCain surrogate Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) is also talking to controversial Pastor John Hagee’s organization. In 2006, Hagee declared:
The United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West… a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ.
Other members of the right wing have also been unifying around the idea of striking Iran before Bush leaves. Both John Bolton and Bill Kristol have made the same argument.

His recommendation serves 2 purposes. 1) It helps the Republicans, many of whom generously “tithe” at Robertson’s church, and 2) It helps put more scared people in the pews when we go to war. Both of which, mean more money and prestige for Robertson. As a simple rule of thumb, I don’t trust ANYTHING anyone with any kind of power over others tells me is the truth.
Politicians learned all of their tricks from the clergy. Including the proper way to molest young boys/interns, stamp out education (think the Catholic-caused Dark Ages, the insistence that the Earth was flat and the center of the universe, the fight over evolution, etc), kill those who disagree with you, incite panic and terror, convince people to give you their hard earned money, the list is endless.
The only nice thing about the New World Order will be its insistence on an end to religious wars and zealots.

Some people on this site are so ignorant or so mislead. They claim that Jesus never existed. There are written records from the first century A.D. in which early Christian leaders wrote to each other and from their letters we can reproduce the whole book of the Revelation. So we know that that book as written by John is authentic. Whether you believe John’s writings are another story. They accepted John’s prophecy very early on. Many other letters of the disciples have been quoted by those first century pastors as well. They knew Paul, who knew the other disciples. It is just ludicrous to say there is no evidence for a historical Jesus. That is like saying you don’t care if firemen said there were bombs in the buildings, there is no EVIDENCE that there were bombs in the buildings.
I’d like to see some of you put together 66 different books over thousands of years so that they all tell a story which fits together so perfectly as the Bible. The prophecies tell you what is happing right now–right up to the mark of the beast in people’s foreheads or hands–about the coming NWO under the anti-Christ, about all the world becoming so upset with Israel that it wants to attack her–about the Jews accepting him as their Messiah. Jesus said: I come in my father’s name and me ye will not accept, another will come in his own name, and him ye will accept.
Who would have thought this say, even 100 years ago? People laughed about the reforming of Israel, even though the prophecies said she would be reborn as a nation. The Bible said the Jews will find no peace, yet they will be so weary they call for it, and that anti-Christ will bring a false one. Why is Isreal, little Isreal the bone of contention? Why do the scriptures say in Zachariah about the last days:

What are the Palastians and Israelis fighting over? Jerusalem. Since when and why will all the peoples of the earth be gathered together against Israel? Well, if half of the world feels anything like the posters on this site, I think I can tell you why. Doesn’t this seem extremely odd to anyone? I mean, a little country in the middle of nowhere that didn’t really exist until 1948 and the Bible warns you about what will happen after it is reformed in the end times? Coincidence? Well, I might as well believe in all the coincidences of 9-11 as that. No, I would definitely say there is a “God conspiracy” going on here. God gives you prophecies not for parlor games but to show you that he is outside of time, that he is in charge and he knows what is going to happen next.
What sort of evidence would you like–a stone image of Jesus–so that if it is written in stone it must be true and must be believed?
Even Jewish writings talk of a Jesus who practiced magic that he learned in Egypt and claims that he was the illigitimate son of a Roman soldier. While this is not a flattering appraisal of Jesus, what would you expect from those who wished to discredit him? What would you expect from the skeptics who would not believe in miracles–why it must be Egyptian magic they exclaim! What did the Jews say to Jesus in the scriptures when they wanted to taunt him: we know who our father is. Obviously, they wanted to cast aspersions upon his brith.
So just keep repeating to yourself “God is imaginary, etc.” over and over as you did in your post. Like Cheney, I suppose if you repeat a lie over and over eventually some people come to believe it. But the truth is still the truth.
As for Pat Robertson, he also wanted to attack and kill some leaders in Africa and I heard that he had huge shares in diamond mines over there which may have influenced his decision greatly. The Bible says that these people have their reward right here right now, but that Jesus will say to them on judgement day: depart from me for I never knew you.

Pheonix. Give yourself a check. First off, the Bible does not perfectly fit together, for there are many contradictions within. Second of all, you say there are written records proving Jesus existed as a human. What do you know? Third of all, if you decided to start doing some research, you’d right away find that the story of a Savior born of a Virgin (Virgo) who died on a cross and resurrected after three days has been told in cultures way before Christianity (Hindu????). Not everyone has the same way of getting to God, its whats in our heart that God knows. There are so many religions in this world and it will always be that way, so instead of putting this one or that one down, try being respectful. Here’s some ‘Good Morning Truth’ for ya:
Scientifically we can know 2 things.
1) Matter can be neither created, nor destroyed, and yet it exists all around us.
2) There is no spontanteous generation of life. Flies do not come from rotting meat, rocks can’t get up and begin speaking, and life didn’t come from some vat of primordial ooze. And yet life exists all around us.
These two facts point to the existance of a being of greater power than humans, but it doesn’t tell us if that being is still alive, or not. It doesn’t tell us of that being’s will, its plan for us, etc. It just tells us that we can rationally, reasonably assume that there was/is a greater being.
Religion, on the other hand, is clearly demonstrated as being a construct of the human mind. We cannot scientifically say that this religion or another is the correct one. We CANNOT know which is right, and which is wrong. And with multiple “One True Way” religions, that is what they are asking you to do. Pick a side based on the ramblings of people from 2000+ years ago who still thought the Earth was flat and the center of the Universe. Unfortunately, as soon as a religion gains power, it begins acting in a very non-religious kind of way. Have no faith in anything created by humans, it is fallible, imperfect, and seeks to institute some level of control over you (mostly to try and get you to tithe your money to the preacher). Do not blindly support any religion, because they are most probably wrong about their beliefs (Just like 99% of what most humans believe).
And for all of you who think to post some crazy religious sheep response to this, remember: There is nothing like a bunch of pious bleeting to discourage unwanted questions. Even if the questions might be good for you to consider.
Need proof of what I say? The Gospels were written by the Disciples for the Roman criminal court system. We’ve based our legal system on theirs, and both required sworn testimony. That’s what the Gospels are, sworn testimony to the Roman courts. EVERY disciple wrote one. Why did only four get included in the Bible? Could it be bacause one of those Gospels tells us of Jesus having homosexual relations with a boy? Could it be because a couple of those Gospels hinted at Jesus having sexual relations with Mary Magdaline? Could it be that, after the fact of his death, a quick reread of the testimony provided made the deity seem too much like a man to be worshipped?

Go “back” to the Farrah Fenton version? Sorry, but you can say go “to” the Ferrah Fenton version. This version is based on the manuscript translations of Wescott and Horton, two notorious new agers who did their mischief in the 1800s. If you will do research in these men you will find they believed in communicating with the dead, did not believe in miracles, and pretty much translated scriptures with these prejudices in mind.
The Authorized King James Version is a tried and true translation. Hebrew scholars will admit that it is a very good translation of the Hebrew and would use it as an English version–even though they would tweak it in a few places, and many of the books of the New Testament (Revelation in particular) can be totally reproduced from quotes in letters from the early Christian leaders.–so why do we need Westcott and Hort to tell us “what the scriptures really are supposed to say.” The KJV has been around since the 1600s and has served the English-speaking peoples very well. God has promised to preserve his word for his people from generation to generation so there will always be a way for him who seeks it to find it. I believe that preservation is in the KJV for the English speakers. You can chase after the likes of Wescott and Hort if you wish, I will stick with the tried and true until shown convincing reasons to change. These newer versions are all translated to invoke confusion and help to usher in the New World Order.
Satan is very slick. He knows that if he just demanded your Bible up front, you would throw a fit and fight to death. So instead, he does such things as this: “you can’t read those old hard words in the King James Bible. Let me give you this book which is so much easier to read.” Or “You can’t trust those mistranslations, you need this version instead.”
With one fell swoop he will get you to turn over the Bible which has saved the souls of English men and women for over 400 years. You will, in effect, exchange your birthright for a mess of pottage–one which the lazy will claim is at least much easier to read.

People go from saying there was no historical Jesus and no proof of his existence, to saying the scriptures are inaccurate because the originals don’t exist, to saying well the scriptures exist but only because they were sworn affidavits in the Roman court–which, of course, would make them official sworn statements proving the existence of someone who some say never existed.
What do facts have to do with anything? What does Paul and his letters to the churches have to do with anything? What do the letters of the early church (and I mean Christian church before Rome decided to make it the official religion–I mean when the Christians were still running for their lives from those in power–when they quoted John the Revelator–”as our brother John” said, etc? What does it matter that they believed the truth of this to the point of giving their lives for it?
I am like Jesus who quoted Abraham: You have Moses and the prophets to instruct you. If you will not listen to them, it would do no good to send someone back from the dead to inform you. You’d just explain it away anyway.

The way he expounds on current events as related to scripture has a lot of folk in his own evangelical circle scratching their heads. God, who is supposed to be all powerful, can tell me what it wants me to do, and do so directly, without the need for non-specific parables and broad generalizations.

My Response: You are more like Jesus than that. Both completely human, both going to be dead, both need(ed) food, water, air, neither perfect, etc. Jesus is most fascinating not for the religion built around him, but the work and forces he commanded in fighting the tyranny of the Roman Empire. Bear what must be borne. Help those around you, as you can expect to be helped. He taught one-ness, kindness, and charity amongst the slaves, the exact opposites of what is offerred to them by the rational, bureaucratic systems of government. Ghandi taught much the same thing in India, does that make him God reincarnated? No, just a man who realizes that humanity is not the string of people who manage to make the history books, but the tumultuous multitudes, revelling in their imperfections, quicks, and character, not giving a d*** if someone 100 years from now even knows their name.
But even though he had revolutionary ideas that brought down the greatest civilization the World has ever known (We’ve got another 600 years before we begin to compare to them), he was still nailed to a cross and died. It doesn’t matter that the Christians who followed him went to death professing their beliefs, they’d have been put to death anyway for simply being Jewish (The Romans crushed them completely in 75 AD and scattered them to the four winds).
But you did hit on a point that I’d like to mention as a very good one. You said that the Roman’s co-opted the religious movement and morphed their secular government into a spiritual one. Notice how easily the two can interact and coexist? Wanna know why? Because they’re so alike. And you best believe that if our politicians can lie, steal, and cheat us to perserve and extend their own power, then the religious leaders can and do too.

As a witness to our collapsing economy and the forces of EVIL in this world, the Word of

and Holy God, and because of his Holy nature, he must punish us for our shortcomings. The
punishment for mankind sinning is eternal separation from God when we die physically.
God loves us so much that he made a way for you and me to be reconciled to Him. John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in
him shall not perish but have everlasting life”. God sent Jesus as a sacrifice on our
behalf to pay the penalty of our sins fully-past, present, future. God says that “Jesus
is the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Him”. Jesus
took your penalty so you dont have to face eternal condemnation.
All you need to do is repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. It is a gift from God to you, all need to do is recieve it!
God proves himself time and time again. Test God out! For all that truly and humbly seek
Him, He will reveal himself to you! If you are skeptical of God or the Bible, do some
investigation and read the Bible! See for yourself if the claims in there are true.
I despise the hypocrisy of today’s Christians, who claim they know God, but by their
actions deny him. Anyone can claim they are a Christian but that doesn’t necessarily mean
they are one. God teaches us in his word that we will discern TRUE followers of God by
their fruits. The inquisitions for example were not done to glorify God even though they
claim it did. God strickly forbids murder, and these “Christians” were engaging in it.
The condescending/judgemental attitudes of Christians today is sad. We are told by God to
love EVERYONE regardless if they are our enemies or friends.
Satan and his evil spirits are alive and well, deceiving many today in this world. Many
are blinded to the evils as our culture slowly conditions us to accept immorality.
The Word of God shows us that terrible times are coming, filled with persecution,
tyranny, and evil.
This Nation America is a slave to our establishment. But we are all a slave to sin. I

There are too many people that think this way. They call themselves Christians but act in evevryway against what is taught?
Can any of you Christians that think along same path as Pats thoughts understand that this outright call for mass murder to bring Christ is just that? Murder! No man can judge another’s soul or where it is to go. But really my thoughts are that “if God really is to come and get his followers there will be MANY like Pat that will be sent somewhere warm and toasty. Response: Everything that has a beginning has an end. Why did your God create death just to get rid of it later? And isn’t Death the tool used to force you lemmings back into line? The Religious leaders say “Live like we tell you, or you’re going to get it when you die!”, but I say that everything has a purpose, a reason, for existence, and death is one of those things. Besides, you didn’t really examine the concept based on my argument: That God doesn’t have the power to destroy death, or anything else for that matter. God is the *creator* and *life adundant*. In the Bible’s own scheme of things, he doesn’t destroy anything. He didn’t completely wipe out the world with the Flood, he didn’t touch Job himself (let Satan handle the destruction aspect of the story, more proof I believe), he always ordered the Jews to kill off the civilizations they found when moving into the Holy Land, but he never dirtied his own hands with the deed. Did you not take 7th grade “Life Science” in school? So, that being said, let’s try to imagine a world with no death. Where, even though you’re a vegetarian, you can’t eat. Why? Because if you eat, your body uses various chemical and mechanical means to break down the plant and animal matter you’ve consumed into the various nutrients and minerals your body needs to survive. But if there is no death, those plants cells don’t ever die and break down. Try as you body might, with no death, all of that food will live inside of your stomach, providing no nourishment whatsoever. If you want to keep this conversation in Biblical terms, you’d be like the big fish which ate Jonah. Didn’t do that fish much good eating him, because he didn’t die.
Death and life are still two sides of the same coin, they cancel each other out, just like in a good math equation, they balance one another. Should God destroy death, what reason would you have to worship him? He only gets to exact his revenge on your “sins” when you die. No my friend, death isn’t going anywhere…

Huh? Are you trying to tell me that the Bible is the true Word of God, or are you trying to tell me that it is not? Your post doesn’t expound enough upon your beliefs, it just asks me a couple of vague questions.
Let me lay my position out for you in easy to understand terms:
1) I believe in a God due to basic scientific principles of matter (creation/destruction/existence) and spontaneous generation (No life from unliving things). Beyond that, I think it would presumptuous of me to say that any one religion is the correct religion. There is no such thing as a 100% probability (which is where faith comes in), leading me to disdain organized religion. You can get just as much of a religious feeling walking through the woods as you can singing a few songs with your Saturday night drinking buddies in church on Sunday morning.
2) I believe that there was too much internal church politics involved at both the Council at Rome in 382 AD, and at the Council of Trene in the late 1500s(a1). These were the two meetings where groups of men got together and decided what went into the Bible and what didn’t make the cut. They suppressed the Gospel of Thomas, who is most certainly mentioned in the Bible as being there to watch the events first hand. They obviously suppressed the Gospel of Judas, which was in the media not to long ago, having been discovered in old Gnostic texts. Anything men have tampered with that much can no longer be considered the Word of God.
Now, I was arguing these stances in my previous posts. Which of them did you have a problem with? No need to write another horribly worded post, just type 1 or 2, and any future communication can proceed in a more efficient manner.

These are NOT America’s problems. Our problems are a shoddy educational system, a bloated entitlement spending program that drags the country down, excessivly violent police, the collapse of the republic (HOW CAN CONGRESS HAVE A SINGLE DIGIT APPROVAL RATING IN A REPUBLIC?!?!), the devaluation of the dollar, the trade deficits, so on and so forth.
Even though I’m not a religious nutcase, Jesus did hit it right on the head when he told the Pharasees (sp?) to not worry about the mote of dust in another’s eye while ignoring the plank in your own. Iran will not retreat in nuclear standoff: Khamenei

TEHRAN (AFP) — Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that the country will not retreat in the face of demands by world powers for Tehran to halt sensitive nuclear work.
“Taking one step back against arrogant (powers) will lead to them to take one step forward,” Khamenei was quoted as saying by state television in a sermon.
His comments come ahead of a Saturday deadline for Iran to respond to a package of incentives aimed at persuading it to freeze uranium enrichment, a process that makes nuclear fuel but also the core of an atomic bomb.
“The idea that any retreat or backing down from righteous positions would change the policies of arrogant world powers is completely wrong and baseless,” said Khamenei, who has the final say on all key policy issues.
Iran has been slapped with three sets of UN Security Council sanctions over its refusal to halt enrichment. It insists it has the right to nuclear technology as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and denies Western claims it is seeking to build atomic weapons.
“Today it is time for the Iranian nation to move ahead with awareness and add to its knowledge and capabilities,” Khamenei said.
“The horizon is bright for us and we know what we are doing and where we are going… the way to reach that point is not to stand but to go.”
Iran on July 19 held talks with representatives of major powers including EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and for the first time an official from Tehran’s arch-foe the United States, William Burns.
Iran was given until Saturday to give its final answer.
But Iran has rejected any deadline, saying it was agreed in Geneva that it would during a two-week period examine the proposal put forward by permanent UN Security Council members Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany.

I have worked in the Christian televison industry (or ministry if you prefer) and I can tell you that most of the people employed here are honest and true believers. But the people who run these organizations take advantage of us all. The problems with people like Robertson, Dobson, Hagee and others is that they have sold out to big money, tax exempt status and the status quo of the Paharisees. Prefering the lavish lifestyles and praise of men over the stigma of Christ, Himself, they have become useless hirelings and vain shepherds.
The best way to combat them with the truth is to call their toll-free 1-800 numbers and complain to the “prayer counsellers” about things like 911, the wars, Bush acting like a dictator and the way these ministires turn a blind eye to it all. CALL THEM! Tell them we refuse to support this any longer. Flood thier lines and wear them out. Many of these workers will soon pass the complaints up the chain and leave their posts. It’s money and support that empowers these false prophets to keep going. Ask you pastor what he thinks about 911 and the CFR. If he doesn’t care about it or give you a satisfactory answer, find another church that does. Don’t start a fight, just move on.
Jesus took care of His own family and friends, but he also confronted civil corruption as well in the Temple. There is no excuse for Christians to still be supporting Bush and this satanic deception.
