Rogers: The Elite Are Turning A Recession Into A Depression

Veteran investor says Obama’s agenda will only exacerbate the problem

Veteran investor Jim Rogers warns that the policies of central banks and politicians are turning what would have been a recession into a new great depression, and that Barack Obama’s taxation agenda will only make the problem much worse.
Speaking to Bloomberg News, Rogers said that the crisis would at least be the worst since the second world war and that “it could well be” as bad as the great depression.
“1929 was the stock market bubble which popped, we were going into a recession and then the politicians around the world starting making horrendous mistakes which turned it into a depression, it would have been just a normal recession otherwise but the American politicians and the European politicians – everyone got in on the act and that seems to be happening this time too,” said Rogers.
Rogers labeled it “unfathomable” what central banks were doing and totally at odds with the lessons of history, adding that President elect Barack Obama’s intention to impose protectionism and taxation of capital would fuel a depression.

“If that happens, it’s all over,” warned Rogers, adding that the same thing will happen to the U.S. as happened to Britain between 1918 and 1939, which went from being the richest and most powerful country in the world to being a shambles. China would replace America as the great superpower in the 21st century, said Rogers.
Rogers explained that the only safe haven during such a period would be commodities and precious metals like gold, which always perform well during times of extreme upheaval. Rogers said he had bought a significant amount of gold at the start of its bull run in 2002 and that he hadn’t sold any of it.
The veteran investor stated that shortages would translate into a strong comeback for oil, which slipped down to $36 dollars a barrel yesterday from a peak of over $145 dollars a barrel in July.

i saw this interview live and remember thinking it was disingenuous to assume obama is going to hike taxes into the recession. obama’s acknowledged that he may have to defer rolling back the bush tax cuts and might still actually cut taxes for most americans. otherwise, i agree with most of what mr. rogers says.

Do religious people not realize that there are hundereds of other religions claiming to be the one true belief and that all others are going to hell? I laugh at this everytime. It will be either by them being hunted down until the day they die where hell awaits, it will be either through God himself, or it will be fate, and fate always wins in the end. They can run, and they can hide to the Middle East, to China, to Europe, but they have been idenitified, and make no mistake those phony history books won’t make them invisible this time to their victoms. They can put a million man army in this country to try and stop it, those soldiers morale will be defeated in 1 week upon revolt, they will be humbled I assure you. There is no more violent people in all the world than in the US, and these people have made enemies out of everyone. The 2 point IQ troops that serve them will turn on them, the chain of command will break down, it always does, and when they bring in the foreign troops they will be met with more hate and violence than any army in world history. It will be impossible for them to win no matter what weapons they use, anything humans create can be defeated by humans. In the end there is no door, no castle, no safe heaven for these people to hide in, this war they plan to start is coming to their front door. My suggestion to them would be to end the attack on America, but they feel so so powerful don’t they. Ahhhhh…..so so powerful they think of themselves. They just have to be stopped rather than to stop themselves. Well they are going to be stopped make no mistake about it. Their victoms will have their reveneg in the afterlife. Their victoms are going to be the spirits that grab their souls and take them to Lucifer himself where they will be burned for eternity in a place that makes all the suffering they caused on earth NOTHING by comparison.

And might I add these are old men primarily that run the New World Order, so it won’t be long for them to be placed in hell. These old men don’t have youth as they once did, their time is running out. Many of them should be thinking about that on a day to day basis. For them time is short, for their victoms time is short, so the question they aught to be asking themselves is all that suffering they are about to cause for just a decade left in life themselves all worth that? Eternal suffering awaits them, for every person they destroyed, for every life they took, a million times pain is awaiting them in the afterlife, there is a special place in hell for the evil ones, there is a special place of suffering for those that enjoy harming the innocent, and God is going to make damn sure they spend eternity there. It is one thing to sin, it is another to destroy the species, and to deliberately enslave and destroy the species is no different than waging war with God himself. And folks that is a power I don’t want as an enemy, so in the end God will make these people the biggest fools, and will humble them in ways that they will wish they never even lived in the first place. Sure they are laughing right now because God has not punished them yet, they think they are on top of the world, soon that world is going to be on top of them.

Exactly as planned, the troops are assigned to Norad ready to clamp down as the new currency is introduced. Thank you all for your comments – if there is one thing that the Fed and many of the politicians and “policy makers” are good at, it is doing things upside-down and backwards, and their main strategy for years has been: “run to failure”…the amazing thing is that the whole bloody system dragged on as long as it did, with a lot of “help” and horn-blowing from the corporate-controlled media proclaiming for years that “all was well”, the economy is on a “solid footing”, etc. – when in truth for many decades all has NOT been well…our present troubles have been building for a long, long time.

Anyone have an idea of how Obama is going to pay for universal healthcare? Anyone know what happened to that? No mention since the primary.
Anyway, his theory on China seems a bit off; as China is pretty upside down with debt too. He doesn’t strike me as much more than sort of a panicker himself; and that happens; even at the top.
America is in trouble; but there’s very little evidence that the rest of the world can take over should we fail. It’ll be an interesting time, to say the least.
