Raw Story
October 31, 2008
On Wednesday’s Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC, the rising-star host spoke with ‘political phenom’ Ron Paul, a popular Republican congressman from Texas, about whether or not the GOP is at an ‘end.’
Paul, in arguing for a return to truly conservative ideals, espoused the belief that Obama will not be able to bring the troops home from Iraq within 16 months, as the Democratic candidate has promised.
Maddow’s introduction detailed an article in Politico, which outlined a plan by senior Republicans to meet two days after the election and discuss a plan to "revive" the party.
"… Which is not something you typically plan to do if you think your nominee is gonna win the White House," said Maddow.
With looming electoral defeat and internal power struggles, what will become of the Republican party? This question in mind, Maddow introduced her guest.
"Why did you decide to stick with the Republican party straight through the primaries, and not try to be the nominee of the Constitution Party or the Libertarian Party this year?" she asked Rep. Paul.
"Mainly because the laws are very biased against some people doing that," he said. "Some won’t even allow you to do it. The system is not very democratic for third parties and alternate choices. All the rules and all the laws are written by Republicans and Democrats, and it’s very hard to get into debates.
"If I hadn’t been in the Republican primary, I wouldn’t get into the debates. It’s very hard to get on ballots, although they’ve done relatively well. It takes a lot of money. They’ll spend half their money just getting on ballots. The system is very biased against competition."
"We have fallen into a terrible trap," Paul explained moments later. "Unfortunately, the two major candidates aren’t even talking about Syria, Pakistan, and the things that are important. They essentially agree with that viewpoint; they both say send more troops to Afghanistan.
"And, quite frankly, I am not expecting the troops, regardless of whether Obama wins, to be home in 16 months. That is just pure political talk."

Wow…go figure….
Well, like we’ve been saying….McSuck and Osama and just two prongs of the same forked-tongue agenda….
and part of that agenda is to start WW3. Lovely.
Now would be an excellent time to be praying hard….
By the way, you guys should really set up RSS for your key articles like this one so people can subscribe on phones, blackberries, etc. I’ve found it helps build your reader base.
Just a thought.

No matter who gets elected to be the “excuser in chief” , their only job is:
–> to sell the crimes of the real motherf.ckers in charge as the latest salad dressing, to the idiot tax payers.
Ron Paul would have been able to make a change, cause he would have gone against the real motherf.ckers in charge. It would have been a dream come true. I guess from now on, and for all eternity, we will associate the name Ron Paul with “Freedom’s Wet Dream”.

Ron Paul is a wise man when it comes to the true reason why we are where we are in this nation.
He is truly, one of the last real patriots that honestly sees the forefathers ideas and guidance formed for us by the Constitution, and how it has been decimated and thrown aside for the hunger for profit and gain by the foes of the past.
Isn’t it about time we put our house in order?

I’m sick of seeing slanderous comments about Ron Paul… why don’t you go to a site where people agree with you, you Mainstream Media morons!!
Ron Paul is the sole politician in Western Civilization TELLING THE TRUTH!!!!!!!
A sincere, genuine man, his message is true — the Federal Reserve is neither federal nor a reserve (it’s a banking cartel — just look up the book Creature from Jekyll Island and you’ll read the history of the Fed in print). His desire to have the U.S. return to acting legally and constitutionally is a noble one — the Framers created the greatest political document in Western history — and the current Neocons and their successors next week will continue undermining and destroying the amazing legacy of the brave people who founded America.

Katie you’ve got to be kidding, it shows how smart you are, you go girl. Get a clue!
You are very disrespectful to others views

Katie – Please Google “Operation Northwoods” before speaking on 9/11. The last time I checked, calling people names is a great way to prove your own lack of enlightenment.
Bradley 2.0 – Please attempt to contribute something intelligent next time.
Truth Rising – Intesting take, but unlikely. Returning to a constitutional government is the only hope we have for erecting legitimate checks and balances against the corporatocracy and the state (two sides of the same coin). Remember – the corporatocracy and the state want control of our lives, our minds, and our money…..
October 31st, 2008 at 11:19 am
Now since the Bush Administration thru intelligence reports know the real reason to attack Iraq was for the protection of the Petrodollar interest, and to also prepare for the upcoming war with Iran, using their proxy, Isreal, thus triggering WWW III. Obama is only following the script wrote out by the Globalists long ago.

Austrian economics is just another NWO psy-op like Marxism. Its founder was Ludwig von Mises who set economic policy in the Vatican-controlled fascist government of Engelbert Dolfuss.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:23 am
Actually, Lyndon LaRouche is the only politician in the Western world telling the truth. Ron Paul is right about a lot of things, but he lacks LaRouche’s knowledge. I can tell he’s a good guy, though, and perhaps if RP spent some time studying in a LaRouche cadre school, he’d emerge with even better ideas!
October 31st, 2008 at 11:25 am
Stop this Ron Paul bashing right now! I said right now! Ron Paul was our best chance to bring back our federal government back to its constitutional duties, instead of the tyranny that our government imposes upon us right now. You fools who bash Ron Paul are going to vote for the fascist McCain or the socialist Obama. You will get buttfucked either way. Ron Paul was the best presidential candidate America has had within the past 100 years. And you dumbfucks couldn’t realize it. You will now get what you deserve you socialist cumquats!
October 31st, 2008 at 11:27 am
Katie,
You are out to lunch dear,….asleep, and in a dream world of television, Time and Vanity Fair magazines with George Stephanolpolous serving you tea and crumpets.
Let me run it down to you quick-like. Ron Paul is just the bearer of bad news, also a Ph.D. Nothing Paul says is false. His carefully considered subject matter is exactly what needs to be discussed but which is being ignored entirely by the two Fed-Reserve banker-puppets you’ll be voting for Tuesday.
September 11th did not happen exactly as your television set spelled it out for you. If you have any reasoning ability AT ALL you might have a look at http://www.patriotsquestion911.com. Read it. Next, look at the network video of Pentagon immediately after crash (www.Archive.org) and look to see the evidence or damage consistent with a 100 ton Boeing 757 crashing into that building. I’ve seen the videos, I am an engineer with patents, also a conservative that, at the beginning, believed it all as it was told on TV. Upon further examination, that is certainly not the case. Also look at WTC 7, the third of three steel frame skyscrapers to collapse from fire. FYI: This has NEVER happened before or since. WAKE UP, WOMAN; smell the coffee.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:27 am
Katie and her ilk are showing themselves up by slinging instead of intelligent comment. The mud she directs at Ron Paul should be directed at herself – look in the mirror girl!!! I live in Australia and I can see past the smoke and mirrors of the main parties campaign. They are two wings on the same bird as the two parties in Oz are. Katie’s use of 9/11 shows just how ignorant she really is … can she tell anyone why building 7 fell when it wasn’t hit by a plane and only had a small fire?? Must be a Guinness World Record for weak building structure, … or a controlled demolition that was planned weeks in advance, as all such demolitions are. Why did Frank Lowy, one of the owners of the twin towers, former Israeli terrorist, gain by taking the lease just prior to 9/11?? How about explaining any one of the over 200 facts which are documented in the mainstream media which cast doubt on the official story?? I could go on, but my psych nurse is calling me ……

Obama won’t be able to pull the troops out of Irag until he pulls his head out of his ..
October 31st, 2008 at 11:36 am
The problem with Ron Paul is that he’s too much of a dogmatic extremist on certain economic issues. He represents a very odd portion of the political ideological spectrum, and stood no chance of ever gaining the widespread popularity that could have led him to be a real figure the broader opposition (left and right) could rally around. Ultimately he probably played a good role, though, in pushing some Republicans away from supporting the war. Small steps will lead to big things.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:39 am
#6 , Katie , Ron Paul holds the record in the history in American politics single day fund raising record , 6.03 million in one day. How many records in the history of American politics does your so called ‘candidate’ hold ?
Switching gears , The Award Winning twin towers were designed to withstand multiple impacts from 707’s witch travel at a higher rate of speed inducing more kinetic energy. The hydrocarbon jet fuel only burns at 1300 degree’s maximum. The Fire proofed , High grade structural steel with a ASTM-E119 standard is subjected to a time temperature curve in which the steel is exposed to temperatures exceeding 2000 degree’s for several hours without showing signs of forging or thermal stress. The Isolated pools of burning jet fuel were not burning hot enough or long enough to cause rapid structural collapse or thermal stress to the core columns. Hence the Official explanation violated laws of physics and engineering. Reports of secondary explosions from fire fighters , and the fact that the buildings fell at the rate of gravity are indicative of controlled demolition.

Barack Obama and McCain are Liers………….
I’m not voting for either one…..

#10, we refuse to accept the lesser of two evils because both parties are bought and pair for by the elite. Both candidates are for big government and tyranny. Obama is an Uncle Tom who would sell black people down the river if ordered to do so by his handlers. That’s why I voted for Cynthia McKinney. After the way the Democratic Party took a big shit on her, I fully realized what the Democratic Party is full of. The Democratic Party, as well as the Republican Party, are full of warmongering, fearmongering, murdering, genociding traitors.
Just remember that YOUR government funded, coddled, and trained al-Qaeda. And Obama will carry on the high crimes and treason of the CIA and Homeland Security.

One party, One goal…forever war.
That’s what I learned from 20 years in the Army.
The simple fact is that those long serving individuals in the District of Criminals are the domestic enemies of the Constitution every service member is warned about in their oath.
We we need to remove every one of them from office.
If you don’t believe this, why then did BOTH McCain and Obama vote for the looting of our treasury for the benefit of the international banksters?

It doesn’t matter what obama or mccain want to do….everybody living in the middle east don’t want any more U.S. troops in any of their countries. They will either “get out” or fight against all those Middle East countries. As I said in a previous post a few months ago, everybody living in Saudi Arabia,Iran,Iraq & Turkey have already been “informed” about the illumanotti,by yours truly, thru an email blast that I did back in December of 2005. That’s why you see all that “anti-western” hostility.

One correction. Our Treasury is empty and DEEEEEP in debt. They looted the future of this country by taking advances on citizen’s labor.
The rest I am in 100% agreement. I served 24 years and thought I was serving an honorable cause. Now in retrospect my statement is when asked…
“I served for my Country… not the GVT that had deprived me of your and my freedoms..”

this will knock out the whole new world order at its base.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:42 pm

Google Trends is very accurate when it comes to almost anything on the internet that people are interested in.
Check this out and ask yourself who should win the election. Then ask yourself who REALLY stands to gain if he is tested or assassinated after being sworn into office.
http://google.com/trends?q=McC.....amp;sort=0
Then again, if McCain wins you all know what that means? Four more years of the Bush Regime from more of the same election fraud.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Ron Paul says” The System isnt very DEMOCRATIC”. WHat a shame. We send 160,000 servicemen and women to usher in a golden age of “democracy” in Iraq and Afghanistan, and our own system “isn’t very democratic”. BUt what’s a patriot to do? The cavalry is not coming. We are the cavalry. As far as Obama bringing the troops home? There’s a better chance that I would take up arms and fight for the NEW WORLD ORDER than that happening! lol! EVen if he “withdraws” from Iraq, hell shift them to Afghanistan which seems to be the dominant idea on his mind. Its all very sad. As a black man it hurts to see the FIRST BLACK PUPPET deceive my black brothers and sisters into voting for him. NOt to mention my white brothers and sisters as well. You have to hand it to the evil geniuses and PUPPETMASTERS in the NWO. They are giving this country the illusion of freedom by letting them “elect” a black man. HOnestly, I FEAR Barack more than I do JOhn Mccain. At least with Mccain you know what youre getting. HE’s so openly bellicose that there is no doubt in your mind about his intentions: War, WAR, and more WAR. But with Obama we have this charismatic, smooth talking, quasi-peaceful candidate that will go back to a CLINTON-style of militarism and imperialism. A very subtle approach.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Hey Katie sounds like she is from the school of the NWO. Katie is not very smart so lets not hammer her to hard. She is just trying to sound smart, chances are she heard this conversation going on at the table next to her while reading her InTouch magazine. Obviously she could not grasp the whole conversation because she was so focused on what BrAngelina and Madonna are wearing. She reminds me of a stupid ex girlfriend that would sit in the wings while the “smart” people talked about “big” girl things. Go back to your E news and celeb magazines.
October 31st, 2008 at 1:17 pm
I like Rachel Maddow…she tries… but it seemed like everything Ron Paul said went in one ear and out the other….with no response, good or bad. The media is catching on to the value of truth and liberty… but they’re still not really listening…. after Ron Paul left…. Maddow went right back to defending Obama and the false-left paradigm… when Ron Paul brought up the Fed…. you could hear Maddow’s and MSNBC’s collective nerve hit the floor…. crickets…….
Maddow get’s point for trying… but not many.
Hear’s a hint Rachel…. next time you get a real academic, a real leader, a real American on your show whose answering your questions with the truth…. ask a follow up question, nod, or at least blink…. don’t just look into the bright lights like a stupid animal…

Everyone go to youtube and type in ILLUMINATI/JOHN TODD. This man was a member of the Commitee of 13, two steps from the top of the capstone of the NWO pyramid. Listen to all of them and he will tell you that in one two year period that he personally gave the head of the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY 30 million dollars, this was back in the 70’s. One of the reasons for this was to get the Protesant’s in this country to take their eyes off the real enemy the POPE(Satan’s human represenitive),nothing against catholic people but the Word of God tells you this.So the JBS turned it’s attention to be a communist fighting organization, which I’m all for fighting commies but the POPE is going to be the one calling for this one world religion just like God told us he would. So anyway John Todd was set up by the Illuminati and put into a mental institution and eventually disappeared, probably because they killed him because he turned his back on Satan and turned to the Lord ,Jesus Christ. He started giving speeches to Christians and telling people the truth when he was set up. Any Atheist reading this you might not think there’s a God or Satan but the NWO are all LUCIFERIC minions and they whole heartedly believe in doing the devils work to enslaved the world. So are you going to keep denying the truth even when you are forced to get MICROCHIPPED?
October 31st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
We don’t need Ron Paul to tell us about Obama, or to rub our noses in our destruction — a destruction Ron Paul deliberately helped to fashion for his handlers and fellow Freemason Illuminati brothers.
Remember that Ron Paul was willing to run, to be a candidate for president, and a lot of people worked very hard to get him elected, donated their rent checks and remember also that Ron Paul QUIT (sort of) — right before the second round of primaries in order to run back to Texas and run for Congress instead. And he took all the money people had donated and used it for his Congressional run and what was left over he is doing with as he chooses. He squandered millions and millions of dollars given to him by trusting patriotic Americans.
While standing as the champion of the Constitution and of the patriots, he sent out a letter to his supporters cliaming there “was no election fraud occurring in New Hampshire” and not to worry. He refused to spend one penny of the many millions donated to him to support an audit, challenge to the rampant election fraud occurring. As a result, it is likely that Obama, a communist and Brezinski and NWO stooge, will be able to steal the election using the fraudulant Diebold voting “machines” —
Ron Paul has done more to destroy this country than anybody you can name. Now he is being rewarded by getting on TV as a respected talking head, spewing platitudes of truth mixed with lies, plaitudes of truth that everybody already knows — ie that we are in great financial difficulties and overextended in the “empire.”
We don’t need Ron Paul to tell us the future. We need Ron Paul to just go away.
Go away, Ron Paul — go count your bones with your friends.

October 31st, 2008 at 2:43 pm
#64 if you have a better suggestion than Ron Paul then we certainly would like to hear your solutions.
It seems that when it came to confronting Ben Bernake about the Federal Reserve, it was only Ron Paul that was asking the key questions.
You sound as bad as all the trash talking mainstream media back stabbers and blogger shills that have infested the internet.
Go ahead and support your NWO puppet of choice and see if we care, but just remember this, Ron Paul was the only one that was a well rounded candidate on all of the issues, the other ones only appeal to those that have not done their homework in a complete manner.

#51 Jake – there are many laws that our politicans don’t follow these days. they have so much money and are so corrupted that they are free to do as they choose.
the only hope is for the american people to wake up and realize that removing them by force is pretty much our only option. the only peaceful idea i can think of is if everybody take’s their money out of the bank and never use banks again.

#74:
“….the only peaceful idea i can think of is if everybody take’s their money out of the bank and never use banks again….”
That’s good only in theory, cause as soon as 1/10th of the people extract their cash, the banks close their doors. So the other 90% can only go back to option 1, which is: go home, load up the Barrett, and lets all go bankerhunting !
It’s open season on bankers, politicians, and lawyers !
And remember, try to aim for the head, cause they’ll be wearing kevlar after the first few get taken out.

i once trusted ron paul, but i must admit that has failed us, and that it is a very real possibility that he is a freemason…look at it rationally, he duped us into donating tens of millions of our hard earned dollars, into his campaign, he rallied all different people from all different walks of life, who wanted to bring America back to the constitution, and then abrubtly suspended his campaign to go focus on his congressional seat, he refused to speak out on 9/11 truth with the cheap excuse that it would have been “political suicide” to do so, even though 9/11 truth was a huge part in energizing his campiagn, for Gods sake we pumped six million dollars into his bank account in one day, and what has it done, nothing, and we have all seen him throwing up illuminati satanic handsigns

Ron paul a freemason ?? You have lost it roberto. Look at the mans record. Does it look like any other freemasons record? No it doesn’t. The problem is in an environment of distrust the trust worthy are more often scrutinized to a higher degree. Freemason Hand signs!!?? Ron paul failed no one. There just isn’t enough of us in the business of getting the guy elected. At least he tried. He’s not perfect… hell he’s a POLITICIAN for christs sake. They aren’t solutions. They are the problem.

I think Roberto has to run now. I can’t trust Ron Paul anymore but Roberto… he’s our man!
October 31st, 2008 at 6:18 pm
I think it’s time that infowarriors be good Americans about this and STOP COMMUNISM. ELECT McCAIN!!!! Both candidates are pro-war, but only Obama stands for REAL COMMUNISM. He is not even an American, it is just disgusting what they are doing. McCain is also bad, but much less so. The Republican Party at least has a good platform, which McCain may feel somewhat bound to. I really wish Ron Paul were running, but we have to try to save what’s left of America!
October 31st, 2008 at 7:43 pm
sounds like a “pick the better poison argument.” vote for who will be best for this country and not because you are deceived into thinking you have two options.
October 31st, 2008 at 7:53 pm
This is the problem with people like “la luz, who would rather have a “good looking” lady than an educated woman with a Ph.D. in Political science conducting interviews. I know that this is trivial considering what else is on our plate, but comments like la luz’s bug the shit out of me. Do you judge Alex Jones’ credibility and talent based on his looks? How about Dr. Paul? That’s what I thought…
October 31st, 2008 at 8:16 pm
STOP COMMUNISM. VOTE McCAIN.

There were many things I loved about this interview, but the most important things is — Rachael Maddow did not interupt Ron Paul. The interviewers on almost any other station would have interrupted and talked over him. She is such an elegant lady and he is a brilliant man!

Free healthcare for all americans
October 31st, 2008 at 9:17 pm
guerrila gunsmoke #100 -
There is no such thing as a “FREE” ride.. health care or anything else. I live on less than $20 K a year and pay all my and my child’s dental and medical out of pocket. I do/did NOT rush to the hospital emergency room every time my child got a fever of 99.6 like I see all these people on welfare doing these days.. That is the problem.. we have TOO much GVT in control..
If you want “free” health care.. buy a gun and go rob someone yourself directly instead of having the GVT do it for you so you can still think you get something for “FREE”… You probably hate the concept of slavery.. but your ideals indicate you don’t mind slavery as long as someone else makes someone a slave for your benefit. That is what the GVT does through taxation.
For God’s sake.. please educate yourself. You can’t go through your whole life being ignorant.

If OBAMA WINS, WE RIOT!!!!!!
October 31st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
101 a free healthcare system comes from your taxes. you pay taxes. i pay taxes. but the difference is my taxes pay for healthcare, childcare and education up to university level. what do u get? u get a big army and an elite who dont pay taxes after they earn $102k. so if u earn 500k then 398k is tax free. now u might think that is good but youd b wrong.

Anyone who votes for Obama is sorely uninformed and/or out of touch with reality, which is pretty much most of the country. The asshole speaks of “change”, yet he intends to involve the biggest criminals from the Bush/Clinton cabal in his administration, and has a VP worse than Bush. How much more obvious does the conspiracy need to get??
November 1st, 2008 at 1:27 am
I dont believe Ron Paul ever intended to or thought he would win the presidency. He is trying to get the American people to stand up and demand real change and not more of the status quo. Even if he did win the presidency, he would be surrounded by the corrupt minions of the establishment (does Julius Caesar come to mind) and could not get anything done. He is trying to remind the American people of what our founding fathers had intended for our nation. Each and every one of us has a responsibility to participate in government. Real change can only happen in this country from the bottom up not from the top down as we have been lead to believe!!!
November 1st, 2008 at 1:33 am
Dr. Ron Paul is absolutely right when he speaks of the difficulties in getting on the ballot as a third party candidate. In fact, it is impossible under the present rules made by the two major parties for any viable opposition to win a national election. Democracy has failed the white people of this country under the existing ideology of Multi-culturalism, Diversity, and open-border policies. It’s time for those open-minded patriots that are left, to join the National Alliance and prepare for the revolution that will bring back some semblance sanity and justice to our country and people.
November 1st, 2008 at 1:37 am
Universal health care would be a joke just like when the federal govt. took over the education system. Since that time the quality of education in this country has declined steadily. Talk to a veteran from Vietnam, Iraq I, or the current Iraq war. Ask them what they think of universal health care. That is exactly what the Veterans Administration is. Its Universal health care for veterans. They have not in the past nor are they now getting the help yhey need!!! This is how our govt. treats its most brave and honerable citizens. What chance do you and I have to get medical care when the federal govt. is in charge of it??????????
November 1st, 2008 at 1:55 am
The easiest thing in the world to run on as a polititan is “change” cause we are all thinking it!!!!! Every presidential candidate in my life time has promised change but not a damn thing has changed!!!!!!!!! The rich are still rich, poor still poor, middle class shrinking, jobs going over-seas, health care is messed up, education sucks and the national debt continues to grow. WHERE IS THIS CHANGE I HAVE BEEN HEARING ABOUT MY WHOLE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obama is promising “change we can count” on but I promise you whether its him or McSame, after they crash our economy, WE WILL BE COUNTING CHANGE!!!!!!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 1st, 2008 at 3:11 am
#97 weren’t you the same guy that was jumping around and yelling opposite meaning propaganda messages in the Alex Jones, Michelle Malken video as the camera angles were turning a couple of months back?, we thought with your dump comments on Ron Paul that you must be the same one.

When there was a resolution giving Bush authority to attack Iran, Obama is such a phoney he didn’t show up to vote.

Ron Paul is the only genuine candidate I have ever seen in recent times and im from the UK so i haven’t had all that much information on all of this. Down With The NEW WORLD ORDER!

Ron Paul is still the truth here.
Thank god I Will not vote for either of the two parties, we are screwed as we know it.
November 1st, 2008 at 1:47 pm
He really never said that he would! All that he ever said is that he would redeploy them to other theaters (such as Afghanistan or Northern Pakistan) as “needed”. He certainly never indicated any interest in a renewed Constitutional foreign policy–”peace and friendly commerce with all nations, entangling alliances with none” that is the hallmark of Ron Paul’s foreign policy. If you want the chances for peace and prosperity which such a foreign policy offers than supporting Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty is far more useful than voting for Obama. So would voting for either Bob Barr (Libertarian Party) or Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party). They need your support much more that Comrade Obama does anyway!!
PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

Dr.Paul has many solid ideas & understands monetary policy very well. However, he doesn’t relate to other politicans very effectively & his staff in DC needs to build more bridges, if he wants to take his new-found popularity & turn it into effective representation.
November 1st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Once again we receive wisdom from Dr. Paul. Will we listen?
November 1st, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Ron Paul is just another bullshitter who knows how to seduce the brute and ignorant American populace with a little bit of bullshit about the Constitution and other patriotic crap.
“…It is impossible for someone to lie unless he thinks he knows the
truth. Producing bullshit requires no such conviction. A person who
lies is thereby responding to the truth, and he is to that extent
respectful of it. When an honest man speaks, he says only what he
believes to be true; and for the liar, it is correspondingly
indispensable that he considers his statements to be false. For the
bullshitter, however, all these bets are off: he is neither on the
side of the true nor on the side of the false. His eye is not on the
facts at all, as the eyes of the honest man and of the liar are,
except insofar as they may be pertinent to his interest in getting
away with what he says. He does not care whether the things he says
describe reality correctly. He just picks them out, or makes them up,
to suit his purpose.
In his essay, “Lying,” St. Augustine distinguishes lies of eight
types, which he classifies according to the characteristic intent or
justification with which a lie is told. Lies of seven of these types
are told only because they are supposed to be indispensable means to
some end that is distinct from the sheer creation of false beliefs. It
is not their falsity as such, in other words, that attracts the teller
to them. Since they are told only on account of their supposed
indispensability to a goal other than deception itself, St. Augustine
regards them as being told unwillingly: what the person really wants
is not to tell the lie but to attain the goal. They are therefore not
real lies, in his view, and those who tell them are not in the
strictest sense liars. It is only the remaining category that contains
what he identifies as “the lie which is told solely for the pleasure
of lying and deceiving, that is, the real lie.” Lies in this category
are not told as means to any end distinct form the propagation of
falsehood. They are told simply for their own sakes — i.e., purely
out of a love of deception:
There is a distinction between a person who tells a lie and a liar.
The former is one who tells a lie unwillingly, while the liar loves
to lie and passes his time in the joy of lying. … The latter
takes delight in lying, rejoicing in the falsehood itself.
What Augustine calls “liars” and “real lies” are both rare and
extraordinary. Everyone lies from time to time, but there are very few
people to whom it would often (or even ever) occur to lie exclusively
from a love of falsity or of deception. For most people, the fact that
a statement is false constitutes in itself a reason, however weak and
easily overridden, not to make the statement.
For St. Augustine’s pure liar it is, on the contrary, a reason in
favor of making it. For the bullshitter it is in itself neither a
reason in favor nor a reason against. Both in lying and in telling the
truth people are guided by their beliefs concerning the way things
are. These guide them as they endeavor either to describe the world
correctly or to describe it deceitfully. For this reason, telling lies
does not tend to unfit a person for telling the truth in the same way
that bullshitting tends to. Through excessive indulgence in the latter
activity, which involves making assertions without paying attention to
anything except what it suits one to say, a person’s normal habit of
attending to the ways things are may become attenuated or lost.
Someone who lies and someone who tells the truth are playing on
opposite sides, so to speak, in the same game. Each responds to the
facts as he understands them, although the response of the one is
guided by the authority of the truth, while the response of the other
defies that authority and refuses to meet its demands. The bullshitter
ignores these demands altogether. He does not reject the authority of
the truth, as the liar does, and oppose himself to it. He pays no
attention to it at all. By virtue of this, bullshit is a greater enemy
of the truth than lies are….”

If you actually educated yourself about who is he and what he has spent the last 30 years trying to do, you would see that Ron Paul genuinely wants to see people not being controlled and brainwashed by sociopath bankers and elite power families. Instead, take power away from perverted false governments and at the very least, maybe have a better future for the next generation of people who will have to inherit a country overrun by propaganda and corruption. The worst that the entire bought and paid for media could come up with to tarnish his name was that he didn’t want to give Rosa Parks a gold medal with tax payers money. He did offer to sign a bill where he personally put up the money. All that tells me is his principles are strong and he isn’t going to waste time or money on something he wasn’t hired to do. Don’t forget that people who hold office are there (in principle) to do the will of the people; not the will of corporations, globalist murders and religious extremists. The man has been trying to bring back real sound monetary policy and abolish the Federal Reserve for many years. Read “Creature from Jekyll Island” or “Thieves in the Temple”. Educate yourself, unplug from the matrix, get rid of your TV, don’t take BIG PHARMA drugs, help bring the power back to the local levels, strengthen your local communities. Don’t support war criminals. Don’t tolerate false flag operations that strip away your freedoms. Don’t let other people control you. Don’t be afraid. Stand up for civil rights. See through the false charm and charisma of Obama, don’t be fooled by McCain. Vote third party and most importantly, think for yourself because sooner or later you wont be able to.
November 1st, 2008 at 10:29 pm
You cannot get away from the fact that Ron Paul gave the aware, enlightened people hope, and then took it away from us. The people really running this country used him as a distraction, and then left us with no one to vote for. It is not what they SAY that counts, Alex, it is what they DO!!!
November 2nd, 2008 at 12:00 am
hubert says, your kind of thinking is the reason why our country is so f’d up. what you described in your loooong winded 6 paragraph is any typical politician in america, ron paul wasn’t lieing about anything. he was just making sure that the truth was being told about all issues. we should look for another ron paul to be a president, someone we could all trust to do the right thing for our country, aka the american people! god help us if obama gets in. he’s the closest thing to a communist that i’ve ever seen in my 55 years
November 2nd, 2008 at 1:32 am
Ron Paul is and has been the only decent person to run for the presidency in a long time. He has Always voted exactly the way he said he would. Never wavering or flip flopping on his views…I will write him. I would rather have a sleep good knowing I tried then voting for who I think has the better chance.
November 2nd, 2008 at 2:58 am
Iraq and don’t forget Afghanistan. He wants to keep troops there longer than Iraq. We are not world police. what is our philosophy now, “with nuclear weapons comes great responsibility” Funny we abuse other countries and blame all the problems on them.

I love Ron Paul’s wisdom. wish he was still running. But what is up with his eyebrows???
looks like someone in makeup really goofed up.
