Instead, we have to hear this bs on how we have jacked the prices up. I will not listen to one more thing that they are speaking about until this government starts to account for every dime we have given them. Ron Paul is right. Truly free-market medicine would lower the price of medical care immensely. Think about veterinary medicine, you can pay out of pocket for a heart transplant for a dog for $5000, and that surgery is not any different than the same surgery on a human. So why the price difference? Malpractice insurance, and health insurance. Or look at another example, LASIK. I just had both eyes done for $1500 total, and I have perfect 20/20 vision. LASIK is not covered by insurance. Thus the free market determines the price, keeping it in line of what the average person can afford. Now compare that to one other example. I had a kidney stone a couple years back, I had to go to the emergency room because I was in so much pain. They gave me a blood test, an MRI, and some pain pills, no surgery, no other medical care, I was there for a few hours tops. They sent me home and said it was small enough that I could pass it on my own by drinking plenty of fluids. The bill was $8000 I kid you not. Health insurance is the biggest fraud on the planet.

Not only did it push the cost up but there is now a mountain of government paperwork involved. A health care worker spends more time doing paperwork than taking care of a patient.
In the health care field, it is all about money…not about the care of the patient. All care is decided by how much money a patient is going to cost and the value of their insurance.
The insurance companies (medicaid and medicare mainly) dictate to the doctors what kind and what degree of health care you receive.
The health care field is a total mess. The people are overworked and don’t care. Keep yourself healthy.
Paul is unfortunately partly wrong. It is not State involvement itself that increases prices, it is State subsidisation of private, market actors that is heavily inflationary and obviously self-destructive. The State can easily control the prices for medicine without causing mass shortage of necessary medicine. The money any nationalised health service pays for medicine is a fraction of the US market price (since pharma inflates its prices incredibly and is protected in the good ol’ US of A).

The Pharmaceutical Industry in the US is regulated by the failed FDA, such that a new drug costs billions to develop, and then must be mass marketed in order for the companies to recoup those costs. The massive increases in the cost of health care has always begun with govt involvement. The FDA has never done a good job of keeping unsafe drugs from the market, but instead has promoted back room dealings for political/financial gains at the expense of us all. The proper role of govt in this and all other areas of life as stated by Thomas Jefferson:
“Let the general government be reduced to foreign concerns only…………………… and our general government may be reduced to a very simple organization and a very inexpensive one; a few plain duties to be performed by a few servants.” –Thomas Jefferson to Gideon Granger, 1800. ME 10:168

What I don’t understand is this reluctance to socialized medicine. IF THEY ARE GOING TO POISON YOU LET THEN AT LEAST PAY FOR IT! YOU NOT GONNA GET AWAY FROM THE KILLING QUALITY.
BUT I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS THE AMERICAN WAY TO BE SELF EFFICIENT. BUT THE REALITY IS THAT IF YOU WORK AT K MART OR SIMILAR PAID JOBS, THE WORKING CLASS(taboo words in America) WHICH IS THE BACKBONE OF AMERICA, CAN’T AFFORD THE PRICES?…I DON’T THINK THATS RIGHT.
PRIVATE HEALTHCARE IS STILL THE SAME DEMON WITH A DIFFERENT MASK:(Kissinger voice over) If you can’t afford it rot in hell!
YOU HAVE TO SEE THAT THESE PROGRAMMS OF HEALTHCARE WERE DESIGNED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE IN SKULL AND BONES. THE SAME PEOPLE WHO MOULDED AND MADE THE AMERICAN PERSONA.
responding to steves comment:steve you made a very intelligent observation, and i totally agree with your statement.Insurance of any kind is a huge scam!
Want some real life examples, here we go. When I was 6 months old, I was found to have a growth on my neck due to a malformed artery. The Surgeon who removed it was the family GP and a surgeon too. It cost about $1100 dollars back in ‘59. Along comes a broken ankle in ‘95. Had to have plates and screws put in. Over $10,000 dollars! The equation goes something like this in my mind: Big Pharma + Medical Insurance + Malpractice Insurance + Hospital Profits (even in non-profit hospitals!) + Malpractice Attorneys X inflation = Too MANY TRYING TO GET A PROFIT! And out of all these players making big dollars in profits, who gets hurt? WE DO! There is no reason that they can’t either take a more reasonable bite out of the pie or just be removed from the equation. For example, what is the real effect of malpractice insurance? Does it insure the patient against honest errors or does it cover up incompetence that would otherwise put a mediocre doctor out of business? Think on it. They keep yelling that “capitalism has failed”. But, I think they lie. We’ve let capitalism get rigged odds for some on insurance and legal regulations have kept it from acting as true capitalism would be expected to otherwise.
Rich Reply: June 16th, 2009 at 10:41 am
You all still don’t understand that this is the nature of capitalism because of human nature! We all are born with the free choice of right and wrong. That said, in free market capitalism, there WILL be people who choose to be greedy and game the system for their own profit. Your beloved Ron Paul and the rest of the Ayn Rand hacks always say that we don’t need regulation in a free market, but I’m sorry, as long as human nature persists it will be there and the only way for your “pure” capitalism to come to reality is if the world’s humans were all replaced by androids.

The original story of BladeRunner, was actually first written by William Burroughs as a screen play
Ridley Scott, took Burroughs’ name, and used the Philip Dick novel. I love the movie btw,
anyways – burroughs blade runner, was about, how after the health care riots,
where private medical practice is outlawed, Drs who perform medical procedures, etc go underground… If a dr is caught with surgical equipment, he could be jailed –
so young kids become blade runners..
society totally breaks down after the health care riots – cities lose power – cunning inovative people make delco pulley systems to go up and down buildings, hang gliders, etc.
its an awesome story…
Huge parts of the country return to the wild, with crazy people livin true to their animal gods
no real freedom, in our current existense, return to wild wild wild wild west.
ron paul is of such seemingly honest and sincere demeanor, that it would make great sense for the globalists to already be grooming him in the public eye for election to office once obama has finished his round of destruction.
I know Ron Paul is taking the opportunity to talk about what is wrong.
But the media is using him to pretend to be showing both sides to look like they are not biased.
The media is promoting any plan by Obama and pretending to have a heart.
The media is allready National propaganda and owned by the companies trying to get free tax money (O.P.M. Other People’s Money).
The politicians hand it out too and Ron Paul gives the illusion that the politicians care.
Only a few of them like him really care enough to say “NO”.
Don’t let yourself be used by the corporate media RP. Only go on radio and shows like Infowars that really are trying to educate the public and not confuse them with double-talk!!
The very idea the corporate media is obligated to show both sides but always leans more in the direction they want is just like the right and left paradigm.
Nothing in the middle. Ignore the real body.
Just one extreme or the opposite extreme.
There is no other options just A or B. Along with propaganda and illusions to fool us.
Ron Paul was too kind to Kucinich by cosponsoring HR 2424, the audit bill Dennis came up with in May – obviously Dennis asked him to cosponsor. RP came out with his audit bill in Feb. Kucinich’s bill does nothing to add to the audit powers of RP’s bill. Kucinich’s bill doesn’t even require mere reviews. The reviews only happen when the Comptroller General determines such actions are appropriate and sunsets in five years. The current Comptroller General was assigned, not confirmed, when the previous Comptroller General resigned; therefore his job is not safe.
Dennis either planned this in order to gain fame (RP may have to attach his bill), or DK is really trying to undermine HR 1207. I hope RP wasn’t too kind for his own good.
WELL , GANG !!! we have a NAZI in the white ( whore ) house , and he has no favor with God , period! OPPOSE THIS KRAP , and get ready for war here, it is soon. THE STUPID PASTORS in this nation have a closed mouth on all of this, and they are just as evil as the bastard they are to oppose! PRAY OR THE BEST, PREPARE FOR THE WORST. dino.
Ron Paul did not give a straight answer to the question about single payer. He said something about “socialized medicine”. They’re two different things. All the evidence says that single payer insurance is more efficient than corporate insurance. Sorry, but it is also more efficient than free market insurance if you want to cover everyone. The federal government also does not necessarily have to provide it.
It is a free enterprise system upon which this REPUBLIC , YES REPUBLIC, not DEMOCRACY was built. Dino is correct too that the pastors of this country are largely full of shit as well, and wouldn’t know evil from righteous if it punched them in the face. Obama wants his dirty grubby little islamic, non american paws into everything….he needs his paws slapped out of all the cookie jars. He must think is some sort of messiah…but I assure you he is not!

It’s anybody’ guess what is right

June 16th, 2009 at 11:07 am
