This past week there has been a lot of discussion and debate on the continuing war in Afghanistan. Lasting twice as long as World War II and with no end in sight, the war in Afghanistan has been one of the longest conflicts in which our country has ever been involved. The situation has only gotten worse with recent escalations.
![]() |
|
| Things are getting worse precisely because we are sending more troops and escalating the violence. | |
The current debate is focused entirely on the question of troop levels. How many more troops should be sent over in order to pursue the war? The administration has already approved an additional 21,000 American service men and women to be deployed by November, which will increase our troop levels to 68,000. Will another 40,000 do the job? Or should we eventually build up the levels to 100,000 in addition to that? Why not 500,000 – just to be “safe”? And how will public support be brought back around to supporting this war again when 58 percent are now against it?
I get quite annoyed at this very narrow line of questioning. I have other questions. We overthrew the Taliban government in 2001 with less than 10,000 American troops. Why does it now seem that the more troops we send, the worse things get? If the Soviets bankrupted themselves in Afghanistan with troop levels of 100,000 and were eventually forced to leave in humiliating defeat, why are we determined to follow their example? Most importantly, what is there to be gained from all this? We’ve invested billions of dollars and thousands of precious lives – for what?
The truth is it is no coincidence that the more troops we send the worse things get. Things are getting worse precisely because we are sending more troops and escalating the violence. We are hoping that good leadership wins out in Afghanistan, but the pool of potential honest leaders from which to draw have been fleeing the violence, leaving a tremendous power vacuum behind. War does not quell bad leaders. It creates them. And the more war we visit on this country, the more bad leaders we will inadvertently create.
Another thing that war does is create anger with its indiscriminate violence and injustice. How many innocent civilians have been harmed from clumsy bombings and mistakes that end up costing lives? People die from simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time in a war zone, but the killers never face consequences. Imagine the resentment and anger survivors must feel when a family member is killed and nothing is done about it. When there are no other jobs available because all the businesses have fled, what else is there to do, but join ranks with the resistance where there is a paycheck and also an opportunity for revenge? This is no justification for our enemies over there, but we have to accept that when we push people, they will push back. The real question is why are we there at all? What do our efforts now have to do with the original authorization of the use of force? We are no longer dealing with anything or anyone involved in the attacks of 9/11. At this point we are only strengthening the resolve and the ranks of our enemies. We have nothing left to win. We are only there to save face, and in the end we will not even be able to do that.

Ron Paul got it spot on in February 2008 in his CPAC speech 7 months before the financial crisis hit. He should be America’s President and was the last chance you had to not become a failed state. Sadly America is now way to far down the line for anyone to turn the tide and it is only a matter of time before the whole thing breaks down like it did in Russia. And i bet even then most of sheeple say “how did this happen”.
Ron had it right when he said there is no reason for Americans to be scared of anything or anyone. You have the most weapons, the best weapons and there is zero chance of another country being mad enough to invade America. Going off to the other side of the world to apparently fight for our freedoms is madness and pointless. 911 killed 3000 people and was a terrible event. Obviously we know it was an inside job but lets suppose for a minute it was a real terrorist attack, so what 3000 people is f--- all compared to the whole population of America. If you lived a couple of miles outside New York you wouldn’t have known anything about it if you hadn’t been watching the TV. A few planes hitting buildings is hardly an invading army.
In the UK we had the IRA for 30 years. There were bombs going off on regular occasions but still it didn’t effect the population as a whole. 20 deaths here and 50 deaths there, which is tragic for the people involved but was nothing to the population as a whole who went about their daily lives not even thinking about it and UK’s population is much smalled than Americas.
Until there is an actual army wanting to invade your country or a friendly country anything else is just bollocks and will never break the resolve of the people.

As the time goes on , people of america have everyday less and less freedom due to politics conducted by federal power. Also , as a consequence of the economic crisis , more and more of them have lost their job and home. But the crisis is not finished , and in near future the consequences could be catastrophic. Keep in mind that any change can not come from the federal government , but only the people , the only source of any future chagement. If a majority of them think a change is possible , so it can be. A way to preserve freedom , ideals , welfare of people is federalism must come to an end. People will have to make a choise , federalism versus freedom , ideals , welfare… . The first could lead to the establishment of a martial law. A state as texas is ready to cross the line , it could be an example for the others. People could put under pressure every state government in the aim to declare secession , the american constitution allow such a decision. Such an aim can’t be aimed without any precaution , as it is evident the federal power is not ready to yield or abdicate. Probably , this one will use force to submit people , but constitution give garantees on firearms. people can put up a fight against the oppressive federal power if a political issue according to the will of people can not be lead. People have to make his will respect , otherwise it will be an opressed people. Saying that federalism must come to an end mean it must be break down , it appears to be the only way to preserve people. America can be easily imagined without federalism and preserved.

The Russians were right next door, not a half a world away like we are and they couldn’t get the job done with a hell of a lot more troops than the US will ever be able to throw into combat over there. So what gives our leaders any idea that we can get the job done?
They are using the drugs that Afganistan produces if they believe that we can ever win over there.

This is not about winning a war or even a pipeline. It is about perpetuating war and expanding it globally until they finally tear down the old order. Then, when there is no vestige of the old order left, they intend to build their new order. What it is leading to is armageddon. They are doomed to fail and take the rest of the world down with them. The good news (gospel) is that they are doomed to fail. God exists and the spirit realm is more real than the physical because the physical was created from the spiritual.

As a decorated “vet” and father, I sat my son down and explained to him the facts of the military industrial complex and what the “federal” system did, and continues to do, to those who volunteer.
The great thing that came out of the conversation was that I saw a young man that was willing to go the “mile” and fight for his country – without putting a uniform on.

What the military needs it some of the brass to grow some balls and start standing up to the ahole politians. Our boys are fighters who are trained to kill and that’s what they want. They don’t want a limit on what or who they can shoot at, this is war and God forbid there is colateral damage. WW2 did last that long because we let our military do their job and nobody interfered with it. Let our boys fight how they are trained to ans we could be out of there soon.we can’t wait for the afgan goverment to do anything all that karzi does is run drugs with his bro. We have the best military around let them do the job and keep our idiot dc out of it w there polictical rules of engagement.

There is no dignified way to leave. They just need to leave. The real threat is here, and has always been here. Innocent people get killed. It’s a very sad truth of conflict. However, the way some people make it seem is that villagers are rounded up and executed by coalition forces. Believe me, if our guys are being attacked from a town and there are innocents around, we do not return fire. Airstrikes are not authorized unless there is a confirmation of no friendlies in the area. You can question how much bravery it takes to kill innocent civilians, but you should ask how much restraint do we have by checking our fire and risking our own necks to make sure innocent people are not hurt.

The Afghanistan occupation is actually an easy one. All we have to do is study the exact same stupid things we did wrong in Viet Nam. The other day, when 9 US soldiers died at a Village base (Fire Base), the commander of the group was calling and calling for air support. It never came. The reason it never came is that there are no clear cut orders or tactics to protect our soldiers in fire fights. No soldier or marine can protect himself under fire if they run out of amunition. This fire base had no back up. The central command of Afghanistan is playing footsey with a people who have never been conquored in history. The barren and dead mountain areas, which are the nation of Afghanistan, are the protection of all would be Taliban. The Taliban have been being supported by the rich in Pakistan, just to try to keep them in Afghanistan. The American Military command or your so called allied command, must have a shoot to kill order/ It also must no have fire bases connected to villages. In Viet Nam, we tried to befriend the villagers, it did not work. The Taliban will kill any Afghan who gives aid to the American(allies). It took The Soviet Union 10 years to leave. They should have stayed, and we should have not helped anyone. This nation must learn, and so far it is not, that some nations should be occupied! Also why is not the CIA excecuting all those in the Afghan Government who are mixed up in Dope. In Viet Nam we played with the Governmental puppets who shipped Heroin and we got slaughtered. Never back up a bad Government unless you own it. The Heroin from Afghanistan is costing us much. The United States must permantly stay in Afghanistan because the Taliban will take the country over faster than the North Viet Nam Government took Saigon in 1975, 2 days. The reorganization of re-education under the Taliban will cost 4 million Afghan’s to be executed. In Viet Nam it was actually 2.5 million and 9 million more in Laos and Cambodia. The Ron Pauls of the World are as bad as the Bush Family. Because they are not very intelligent and can’t figure out that a peasant with a gun at his/her head will always go with the gunman, can’t figure out anything. In order th control the entire Mid-East, The United States must maintain a ground force of 99,999 and complete helocopter support for those forces. This nation must assassinate all Afghan Puppet Governmental employees who are undermining the US efforts. I will sign this comment because I was in the last few months, (in and out, hip hops on corporate cintracts) in Saigon and I was a member of the Lansky Group also, plus I have been both a federal contractor, a full member of an organized crime family, and a Confidential Informant for the IRS-CID. Sir with all due respect, you are an idiot. In order to end hostilities and drug trade in Afghnaistan, the americans would have to leave, then all problems would be solved. The drug trade is run by the CIA, M15 and other collaborators. The heroin trade was iradicated by the Taliban and re-established by the Americans, you have all your stories screwed up. When in doubt just remember, Americans bad, the rest of the world good, repeat it often enough perhaps it may sink into your fat ignorant skull.

VERY TRUE RON PAUL, your excellency Sir!
I believe Mr.Paul, you are not as voice/speech effective as we wish…
Can you perhaps study voice or speech, such that your messages become 100%, or well 75% effective? Look I learned, long ago, in technical school, we can only satisfy 70% at most, since 30% are insatiable. But if you used a type of voice which could compete with that boob tube…compete and overcome the brainwash-programming 50 years of T.V. has (damage) caused.
Your words and thoughts are most excellent, Mr. Paul, Sir; But voice is everything to the dumbed-down…Please don’t believe I am unhappy with your comments; They are most true, most intelligable, to me. I am concerned for our brain-washed-bretheren…thats all.
God Bless you and all infowarriors.

WE are there to build an oil and gas pipeline. No other reason.
October 16th, 2009 at 8:29 am
At the risk of casting pearls before swine:
This is not about winning a war or even a pipeline. It is about perpetuating war and expanding it globally until they finally tear down the old order. Then, when there is no vestige of the old order left, they intend to build their new order. What it is leading to is armageddon. They are doomed to fail and take the rest of the world down with them. The good news (gospel) is that they are doomed to fail. God exists and the spirit realm is more real than the physical because the physical was created from the spiritual.

American To The Corps: “Innocent people get killed. It’s a very sad truth of conflict” Isn’t that a good reason to stay out of conflict?
If the military rounded up innocent villagers and executed them in Vietnam, what makes you so sure they’re not doing it now?
As for the rest of your post, if that’s the case, tell me how innocent civilians keep getting killed.
