California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said a make-shift tent city for the homeless that sprang up in the capital city of Sacramento will be shut down and its residents allowed to stay at the state fairgrounds.

“Together with the local government and volunteers, we are taking a first step to ensure the people living in tent city have a safe place to stay, with fresh water, healthy conditions and access to the services they need,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “And I am committed to working with Mayor Johnson to find a permanent solution for those living in tent city.”

On the surface this looks like a heart felt approach to what he has stated as a problem.
Forget the taxes he implemented and short changed government workers on pay.
Forget the lack of financial assistance that should have been mandated when giving the TARP money to the bankers.

If I were to become homeless, the only place I would go is to the mountains……head for the hills people, not the FEMA Camps. Get out of the big cities if you become homeless. I suggest you buy a survival book NOW if you don’t already have one, it will show you what plants you can eat in the wild and it will show you how to keep warm with leaves and other natural surroundings. Hope for the best BUT prepare for the worst. Please don’t laugh, think about it very carefully.

If people actually go there, I’d have to say their insane. This is the aclimatization phase for getting people to voluntarily go into the FEMA camps in the wake of a combo plague/ economic implosion. If those folks are smart, they’ll cowboy up, and get the hell away from that city period. Head for the outback where few go that often and start setting up little homestaeder hamlets and villages. Start growing small to medium sized gardens, and start mastering hunting techniques that dont necessarily involve the use of a firearm (remember the report from something like a .30-06, .270, 7mm, .308, and especially a .300 or larger magnum can be heard up to five miles away depending on conditions) so as to gather healthy red game meat. Learn to fish (it’s not hard- worm, hook, string, thats it), and prepare hides, and how to preserve foods. Don’t have the knowledge? Bargin basement book stores folks, I assume you can read. It might seem like a “primitive” lifestyle, but in the words of Janis Joplin “another word for freedom is having nothing left to loose”. And this alternative beats the HELL out of the NWO solution.

my brother has worked most of his entire life and is now collecting unemployment insurance with no medical insurance and is now considering applying for medi-cal for the first time ever for him and his family. he will have to jump thru many hoops to be eligible if eligible at all. the edd has now opened their doors on saturdays in order to accommodate the unemployed and encouraging others to apply online. unfortunately, for my brother he was one of those type of guys who worked, watched sports religiously, outdoorsman, family man, who didn’t see this coming.

I crunched the numbers and its
880,000 / 150 = $5866 per homeless person
for 1 month that’s $195 a day- the price of a five star resort
for 3 months it would be
$1955 per person a month $65 a day- I can find cruises right now for 65 a day.
That’s prolly why they said it might get shut down in a month.
Either way thats not very efficient.

I wonder if there’s any footage of that or the other camps. I never saw all that much about the fema camps even though it was an important precedent.

The shelter at Cal-Exp currently houses about 150 people. It will be expanded by another 50 beds, and will include facilities for families with children.

ok the carbon tax was smart, charge for the air property rights as well (countries in europe do), wait..how about a gravity tax. The U.S and Europe are so fat that we would not only come out of the depression, but break the vaults in the banks haha.
