Scientist arrested for smuggling vials used in Ebola research into US

A Canadian scientist has been arrested for smuggling 22 vials stolen from Canada’s National Microbiology Lab, used in Ebola and HIV research, into the United States, Canadian and US officials said Wednesday.

According to US prosecutor Lynn Jordheim, Yao was detained for carrying unidentified biological materials in vials wrapped in aluminium foil inside a glove and packaged in a plastic bag, along with electrical wires, in the trunk of his car.
Yao said in an affidavit he stole the vials, described as research vectors, from the Winnipeg lab on his last day of work there on January 21.
He told US border guards he was taking them to his new job with the National Institutes of Health at the Biodefense Research Laboratory in Bethesda, Maryland.
US authorities feared their contents could pose a terrorist threat. But tests later showed “they are not hazardous,” said Jordheim.

Who knows why they let this come out. Isnt this a matter of national securtiy. I thought they would keep this secret. they only release this info just to show us that they are trying to stop terrorism. Its all planned bullshit, just like they are going to admit swine flu was manufactured in a lab and launch a phony investigation.

If Yao’s actions were legit; if the materials are harmless; why go through care to smuggle them? If this were legit I’m sure the materials would be shipped through proper channels. Ebola research…. Interesting… doesn’t the new novel flue virus have genetic markers that attach to other viruses and ’steal’ bad characteristics?

The man claimed he was sneaking the vials in because he didn’t want to go to the trouble of having to start his research over from scratch.
Since he was to start working next at a Biodefense Lab in Maryland I would think he’d have access to anything he needed for his “research”. Smuggling vials inside the fingers of gloves? Really Mr. Chinese scientist?
Looks like somebody was hoping to start something uglier than the last Anthrax mailing fiasco.
Flu may mutate this winter? Oh yeah.

The idea that they are working on the Ebola virus – is in itself – something to be very concerned about. Unless it is to create an ante-viral to this genocide creating machine – I do not like or appreciate anyone playing around with something that can actually kill millions of humanbeings and live stock within one month!

a scientist must have a damn good reason in his mind to do this….maybe he knew he was right, and was being told to ignore something…and he wanted to keep the evidence.
Absolutely nothing suprises me any more, I even think it is possible that the Swine Flu was manufactured, and by it ‘originating’ in Mexico, I personally found it hilarious that on the first repor the map of the US only showed a few tiny dots representing flu cases; the next day the entire North American continent showed cases, so was it to justify closing the US Mex border, and save a few budget bucks on dealing with Illegal Immigration, or was it just to try to actually track to which cities Mexicans go when entering or returning to the US? Are there any stats of the origins of each flu case in the US, is it Mex born mexicans, or US tourists who returned from there/
