Secret DHS Doc Predicts Violence in Response to New Gun Restrictions

In the wake of the MIAC report and the Virginia Terrorism Threat Assessment, another document issued by the Department of Homeland Security “for official use only” covering so-called “rightwing extremism” has surfaced. The document warns federal and local officials to expect “terrorism” in response to planned firearm restrictions and other points covered below.

Alex Jones called the numbers listed on the document and validated its authenticity. He contacted the “watch captain” at the Department of Homeland Security’s National Infrastructure Coordinating Center who confirmed the product number on the document as legitimate but would not comment further. A call to the FBI went unanswered.
The following points covered in the document are of particular concern:
Gun Sales
According to the DHS and FBI, local law enforcement’s primary concern should be the high volume of gun and ammunitions purchases over the last few months. The document equates Americans who stockpile ammunition to “rightwing terrorists.” Moreover, stockpiling (merely purchasing) ammunition is an indication of involvement in “paramilitary training exercises” and potential terrorist activity.
According to the Irish Times, the “stockpiling” of ammunition and increased firearm sales are due to the fear Obama will impose new gun laws and other restrictions. “Gun-shop owners and the National Rifle Association (NRA) say the surge is driven by worries that President Obama is planning to ban many types of firearms and that the deepening economic crisis will fuel a crime wave.”
If we are to believe the DHS and the FBI, these Americans, numbering in the millions, are violence prone terrorists and a threat to local law enforcement. In addition, as noted below, concerns about crime due to a worsening economy are paranoid fantasies exploited by terrorists
Job Losses and the Economy
The document states that job losses, home foreclosures, and the collapsing economy are “perceived” by rightwing terrorists and exploited by them to “draw in new recruits” and further radicalize “those already subscribing to extremist beliefs.” According to the document, the economic crisis is a perception without a foundation in reality, merely an exaggerated device used by terrorists.
In other words, if you complain about the faltering economy reported upon numerous times a day by the corporate media you are a rightwing extremist and a terrorist who may resort to violence and threaten local law enforcement, especially if you support the Second Amendment, own firearms, and “stockpile” (purchase) ammunition.
Illegal Immigration
Like the economic crisis, illegal immigration is at best a perception, not reality, and the rightwing terrorists have exploited this political issue as a racist “call to action” and recruitment tool. The DHS document claims the extremists have exploited the First Amendment on this issue in order to foment violence against illegal immigrants and those who support amnesty and other schemes to legalize illegal immigration. The DHS document cites several examples supposedly linked to anti-immigrant violence committed by “militia members” and mentions a “machinegun attack on Hispanics.”
Stated Purpose of the Document
Dated April 7, 2009, the “scope” of the document is as follows:
This product is one of a series of intelligence assessments published by the Extremism and Radicalization Branch to facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the United States. The information is provided to federal, state, local, and tribal counterterrorism and law enforcement officials so they may effectively deter, prevent, preempt, or respond to terrorist attacks against the United States. Federal efforts to influence domestic public opinion must be conducted in an overt and transparent manner, clearly identifying United States Government sponsorship.
The DHS document — with the unwieldy title “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” — contains the following warning:
LAW ENFORCEMENT INFORMATION NOTICE: This product contains Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES) information. No portion of the LES information should be released to the media, the general public, or over non-secure Internet servers. Release of this information could adversely affect or jeopardize investigative activities.
Warning: This document is UNCLASSIFIED//FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY (U//FOUO). It contains information that may be exempt from public release under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552). It is to be controlled, stored, handled, transmitted, distributed, and disposed of in accordance with DHS policy relating to FOUO information and is not to be released to the public, the media, or other personnel who do not have a valid need-to-know without prior approval of an authorized DHS official. State and local homeland security officials may share this document with authorized security personnel without further approval from DHS.
The DHS wanted the document to remain secret but it was leaked, probably by “authorized security personnel” in local law enforcement (as was the case with the MIAC document produced by the Missouri State Police). Information in the document was “provided to federal, state, local, and tribal counterterrorism and law enforcement officials so they may effectively deter, prevent, preempt, or respond to terrorist attacks against the United States.”
The DHS document — produced in coordination with the FBI — begins by stating it is “one of a series of intelligence assessments published by the Extremism and Radicalization Branch to facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the United States” (it is interesting to note the phrase “violent radicalization” is the same one used in H.R. 1955, entitled the “Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007″).
Key Findings
In “Key Findings,” the DHS document states that the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no “no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues [specifically gun control]. The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment.”
The above text points to a footnote on the page dividing “rightwing terrorists” into two categories — “adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely.”
It is significant the DHS (and FBI) categorize opposition to the government as terrorism. The FBI in particular has labeled various “rightwing” movements as extremist for more than a decade, so this is nothing new or revelatory.
The authors of the document drag out all of the old “rightwing” bugaboos, most notably the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. In addition, they mention the “[p]roposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans” resulting in recruiting new members and culminating in the “planning and training for violence against the government.”

In order to underscore this assertion, the authors note the “high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement.” In fact, as noted above, the “high volume of purchases,” as the media has reported, is a reaction on the part of Americans in general regardless of ideological persuasion. It is a common sense reaction to the documented fact president Obama is opposed to firearms ownership, even though he claims to support the Second Amendment.
The DHS I&A attributes the purported “resurgence in rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalization activity” to economic factors and the election of Barack Obama. “Despite similarities to the climate of the 1990s [a reference to the militia movement exaggerated by government and corporate media], the threat posed by lone wolves and small terrorist cells is more pronounced than in past years. In addition, the historical election of an African American president and the prospect of policy changes [i.e., gun registration leading to eventual confiscation] are proving to be a driving force for rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalization.”
The tone of the document indicates that the government plans to impose restrictions on the ownership of firearms. In addition, the document warns local law enforcement that “rightwing terrorists” will violently resist any attempt to register or confiscate guns.
Link to Pittsburgh Cop Killer
In order to stress the point, the authors cite as an example the murder of three police officers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:
The alleged gunman’s reaction reportedly was influenced by his racist ideology and belief in antigovernment conspiracy theories related to gun confiscations, citizen detention camps, and a Jewish-controlled “one world government.”
Following this event, the liberal noise machine, funded in large part by the Soros and Ford foundations, expended an extraordinary amount of energy attempting to link the murders to Fox News and Alex Jones. Jones was singled out by the Anti-Defamation League (Shooter In Pittsburgh Cop Killings Held Strongly Anti-Semitic And Racist Beliefs, April 6, 2009) as having influenced the alleged killer, Richard Poplawski, who frequented the white supremacist website hosted by Stormfront. “According to ADL, Poplawski also frequented ‘Infowars,’ the Web site of the right-wing conspiracy radio talk-show host Alex Jones, where he shared links to its stories with others and sometimes posted his own messages to the site,” the ADL wrote in the above linked press release.
Similarity to SPLC and ADL Talking Points
According to the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, the MIAC documents were heavily influenced by “faulty and politicized research issued by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Anti Defamation League (ADL).”
The Southern Poverty Law Center was cited as a research source for the ‘Missouri Documents’. Furthermore, the attempt of these documents to cast suspicion of violent and life threatening behavior on millions of Americans who are concerned about these issues [unemployment, taxes, illegal immigration, gangs, border security, abortion, high costs of living, gun restrictions, FEMA, the IRS, The Federal Reserve, and the North American Union/SPP/North American Community] is consistent with the regularly released political materials of both the SPLC and ADL.
The DHS’ “Extremism and Radicalization Branch” participated in the “Global Summit on Internet Hate Speech” organized by the International Network Against Cyber-Hate and the Anti-Defamation League and held November 17-18, 2008, in Washington, DC. Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, was a key speaker at the event.
The DHS document claims today’s “rightwing terrorists” present more of a threat than those of the earlier period:
Unlike the earlier period, the advent of the Internet and other informationage technologies since the 1990s has given domestic extremists greater access to information related to bomb-making, weapons training, and tactics, as well as targeting of individuals, organizations, and facilities, potentially making extremist individuals and groups more dangerous and the consequences of their violence more severe. New technologies also permit domestic extremists to send and receive encrypted communications and to network with other extremists throughout the country and abroad, making it much more difficult for law enforcement to deter, prevent, or preempt a violent extremist attack.
The document makes it clear the DHS and FBI consider websites such as Infowars and Prison Planet to be vehicles for “potentially making extremist individuals and groups more dangerous and the consequences of their violence more severe.” (Note: Alex Jones has repeatedly warned his listeners against violence.)
Recall a House Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing on “Terrorism and the Internet” held in November, 2007, and broadcast on C-Span, that featured a panel of “experts,” including representatives formerly of the RAND Corporation and the Simon Wiesenthal Center who presented 9/11 truth websites sites alongside sites that celebrate the attacks and offer training in terrorist tactics. “The hearing was chaired by Democratic Rep. Jane Harman, and ranking Republican, Rep. Dave Reichert. It was supposed to focus on the use of the internet by ‘home grown terrorist recruiters’ yet in a shocking move it blatantly related the 9/11 truth movement with so called radical ‘jihadists,’” Paul Joseph and Steve Watson wrote at the time.
Alleged “falsehoods” and “conspiracy theories,” according to RAND corporation director Bruce Hoffman, “have now become so ubiquitous and so pervasive that they are believed, so you have almost a parallel truth, and it has become a very effective tool for recruiting people.”
Rep. Jane Harman sponsored the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007.
As Alex Jones has noted numerous times on his radio show, the FBI and military intelligence have taken a keen interest in the comment sections on Infowars and Prison Planet. In the last week and a half the liberal noise machine and to a lesser degree the corporate media have kicked into overdrive in an attempt to link Jones and his websites to a deluded and violent individual. It should not be considered a coincidence the DHS document considers the murders in Pittsburgh an indication of emerging “rightwing terrorist” violence, specifically in response to “proposed” gun laws now in the works, as the document indicates.
Conclusion
The document is designed primarily to radicalize local law enforcement and convince individual police officers that citizens opposed to violations of the Second Amendment, draconian gun legislation (including registration and ammunition tracking schemes) and illegal immigration are terrorists capable of committing acts of violence against them. It is a cynical effort to increase the tension between police and the community at large, especially members of the community that exercise the Second Amendment and oppose open border policies.
In addition, the document equates opposition to the policies of Barack Obama to racism. Opposition to "a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use" is characterized as exploiting "racial and political prejudices."
Obviously, the document is part of a larger campaign by the government to circumvent legitimate political activism and characterize such activity as the behavior of a violent minority of terrorists. It is noteworthy that several issues of concern to our rulers — namely firearm possession and the effort to flood the country with lower paid workers and thus undermine the middle class — are highlighted in this until now secret and restricted document.

We do have hope though; if only one law enforcment, I know it is a slim shot but, we only need one honest one, to file fraud or treason and perform an arrest on someone, anyone of significance it may take the focuse of anger that is moving toward the failure of law enforcment to performe up to its oath which may stop the approching confrontation between the American people and Law enforcement that is being provoced by the ADL and The SPLC.

They churn out these documents within days of something happening they can get into the tens of thousands of pages and sometimes they need to get them out BEFORE something else happens, so they are rushed. I am normally a quiet, mild mannered CONSERVATIVE/LIBERTARIAN. Once upon a time (’85 and again in ‘86) I swore an oath upon entering the Navy to ‘obey lawful orders’ and ‘defend the United States and its Constitution against all enemies, foriegn or domestic’ — an oath I still take seriously, even being out of the service since ‘90. BUT, there has been way too much slander and libel against me and people like me, and entirely too many lost freedoms over the last 10 years, and mostly slander being in the last 6 months. I am getting tired of it, so keep that in mind as you publish more crappy, erroneous, and blatantly prejudicial material that attempts to label me a domestic terrorist or violent extremist. I have never even so much as attended a protest rally *yet* (will be at Chicago’s Tax Day Tea Party and End the Fed rallies however), but expect me to join up at YOUR (government’s) first move of violence. Enough is Enough already.
Until the government initiates violent and wide-scale attacks on civilians, I will continue to do my part in a vocal but non-violent manner — educating the general public (as a roving PC tech and network administrator I get around quite a bit, and have a core clientelle of 200+ families and businesses — End the Fed and Obama Deception DVD’s and Campaign for Liberty brocures are standard handouts to all my clients).
For everyone else, remember that for every right or liberty, there is an equal responsibility. As a side note to those I posted for above, I frequent this site and prisonplanet (among other sites) just to get a counterpoint to the crap reporting from mainstream media. Those like myself (recently awakened or not quite fully awake in addition to those fully awake) gravitate to this site and other alternative media outlets because we seek TRUTH, not the overly liberal and blatant propoganda found on MSM outlets. I suspect that if MSM outlets were fair and accurate in thier reporting they wouldn’t be in such dire financial trouble. Nor do I expect any liberal or statist to grasp that concept.

The Brits never really had a truly mass gun-ownership, even when the laws did once allow ownership of all types of guns. They were just too unaffordable for many, plus we never really had a frontier culture that of course needed weapons to live. So yeah, taking guns away was always easy, and just required a couple of nutjob massacres (Hungerford & Dunblane) and the media did the rest.
You guys are different. You have millions of guns, and by all accounts citizens who know how to use them. I am confident you can all beat the bastards if they make a grab for your guns.
But you all need to stay networked, if the Internet is brought down even temporarily, it would make their job a million times easier as the regular media is bought-up we all know that.
Stock up on good ammo, but also find some way of countrywide communication that is independent of the Internet and telephone system. Urgently.

Wireless Ethernet – A machine w/ two wireless NIC’s and a router can be a bridge or repeater; i.e., a “gateway”. Two wireless broadband routers can sometimes be used. Adding a metal cone around the antenna narrows the beam & increases range. Some people have it up to half a mile.
Radio Networking – X.25 is a packet protocol for lower rate, longer range transmissions.
Microwave – microwave equipment isn’t all that expensive, but is fixed point-to-point.
These things have to be shut off one-by-one as they are decentralized.

Ok…when people say ’stop paying your taxes,’ what exactly do you mean? Sounds good, I know….but that is not a viable solution. Here’s why.
1. Property taxes. You don’t pay em, they take your home.
2. Income taxes (SS taxes too). They come automatically from my check. It’s called withholdings. Not everyone is self-employeed. And if they run a legit business, they would risk shutting down their business by not paying taxes.
3. Fees and tickets….don’t pay em and the next time you are late to a meeting and get pulled over, you’ll have a warrant and miss that meeting.
4. Taxes as a whole….you scam the IRS and they put you in jail. Not everyone has the money to fight them in court.
I’m not blasting you personally, because I don’t believe in unfair taxation, but not paying one’s taxes isn’t realistic. No, I will continue to render unto Ceasar, and wait for a more important battle (such as them trying to take my family).

I was looking through several hundred old slides my Dad took
of different cities in FL back in the 1950s while on a business trip.
Tons of old cars, old stores we don’t see anymore, (like Kress,
G.C. Murphy, Montgomery Wards and Woolworths) and folks
dressed up neatly in ’50s clothes and haircuts.
I suddenly realized that out of 400+ slides taken in a dozen or
more cities of daily activity on streets and sidewalks, there was
ONE THING YOU DIDN’T SEE. Can you guess?
A POLICE CAR! Makes you wonder how everybody lived just
fine without hundreds of cops up our asses every day, doesn’t it?

I think the citizenry would feel better, if we see some police or military ‘pledge groups’ formed that publicly declared an intent to protect the Constitution and B.O.R ‘as written’ -and also that they would never, under any circumstances, turn force upon the People for claiming those rights, such as keeping ALL their guns & ammo, and that any order to use force would result in the arrest of the officer/commander giving the order.
We know there are ‘good guys’ in the various forces, we just need to see you more, perhaps signing names and number to online pledges or something similar.

Thanks for that insightful and most relevant post. I recall, that even back in the mid to late 70’s the Cops in the town I lived in were ENTIRELY different than they are now…not out LOOKING for any petty thing so they could bust people, but instead they were glad that the citizens did alot to police themselves (and their community) which kept things VERY quiet and under control and made their jobs that much easier.
In fact, I was so impressed by how the cops were that back in 1980 I actually entered Tech. School to get a degree in Police Science, until a great-uncle of mine (whom was a retired Police Captain) actually talked me out of it. He said that things were about to change DRAMATICALLY in law enforcement, with an “arrest ‘em all and let the D.A. sort ‘em out” attitude (which would cause great dislike for cops)…so I listened to his advice, becoming a Firefighter/EMT instead and man am I glad I did. I would have never made it amongst all of those gung-ho…”let’s get the bad guys” types who are usually as hypocritical as they come.

I hear ya. The culture in America has changed from generation to generation. Another thing too that I notice every day when I am out and about; people don’t make eye-contact that is open and sincere..even when greeting each other; if any eye-contact at all. I guess everybody is too busy being working drones perhaps. Seems like after all these decades of working and working and then needing 2 incomes to try to ‘make -it’…..seems like we were dronefuly & clonefuly stepping to our own ends. ‘They’ tried to make us believe that everyone outside the US borders were big bad bogeymen and they need to be fought & killed or subdued and made to fall into alignment.
Of course 700 plus military bases had to be constructed and used to ‘protect our interests’, as they claim. Ha..they are not our interests. They are their interests, but we were always told they were ‘our interests’. Its as if they got their drone workers to help to set-up their world system and stamp out The Resistence. Give em bs money & credit and then gradually take away benefits while luring Americans into ‘investments’. Ha…the bubbles have all burst and they took the money and ran AND they aint pulling any shit over me. I see thru those mother fuckers. The best killers & thieves come with a smile on their faces.

I find this situation ironic. First, a few weeks ago DHS calls for gun restrictions because of the violence in Mexico! Then they write internal memos stating that the American People will fight back if the government confiscates their firearms. In other words, DHS is recommending that the people’s guns be restricted and warning their agents simultaneously that “domestic terrorists” are upset about gun confiscation. Hey, I have an idea, don’t apply gun restriction and we won’t fight back, okay?

This is in my backyard! My husband and I have seen more miltary Helicopters in the skys over our house from 2008 to this year ( coming out of AP hill). Also, a new fence in area was built ( off Rt 218) to hold milatry trucks and so on. My husband has watched as over the weeks with more and more being moved into it. Also, I saw, one month ago, two large UN helicoters fly of our house ( gray with red noses) witch I have never seen in the before in nine years of living here. Add this report to cops in Virginia, makes me watch full!!

I am not for immigration control, since I am a libertarian. However, I do believe people have the right to express views against immigration without being labeled a terrorist by their own government. I do believe I have the right to question the government and be concerned about its policies without be labeled as a terrorist by my own government. Are these people not cognizant of what the Federal Reserve has been doing since the fall of 2008? From September to November, the Fed more than doubled its balance sheet. This is unprecedented. To suggest that the economic problem is a “perception” is incredible. Why has the Fed been printing money like crazy if the banking system isn’t broke? Why has the Congress passed $2 trillion on top of the regular budget in the last seven months? One is even called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Recovery from what, if there is no economic problem?

I’m ok with legal immigration but there should have been a cap as to the numbers allowed decades ago. I do know that US companies are sponsors to bring either low wage earners here from other countries and they also sponsor high degreed persons here for employment, all thru the various VISA programs.
I have a hunch that foreign workers do not have ‘it’ inside of them to be cautious of government at all times. They may look at government as an institution that has helped them; even illegals from South of us. When ‘government’ speaks of legalizing them, its exactly what those who did not come here legaly want to hear.

Law enforcement for the most part seems more interested in getting FED money

A close family friend who, is a county sheriffs deputy 25 yrs plus,specifically told me last month to start buying ammo,get my ccw,memorize the constitution and get to his house WHEN it breaks out.

I have worked part time in a gun shop since 1993. 99% of our customers that are coming in to buy a 1st gun or to buy ammo in bulk are worried about the economy and crime, not Obama. The occasional collector such as myself that always wanted that AR-15 are a little worried so we are buying one while we can.

I agree with Jason. I saw a guy with an Obama sticker on his car at the pistol range this weekend. He is out of touch with what’s happening in the gun industry. He could not process that the rangemaster had NO ammo in .380 to sell him for blasting or otherwise.
We all tried to talk to him but he was on the verge of throwing a fit. It was not about Right or Left at that moment, it was about a bunch of Americans, trying to get ready, train and equip. One of them sorely under-informed. We talked to him and he came around but it was sad. One guy said he would meet up and trade some ammo so he could have some to secure his house. See! What will the police do when the government disarms them and gives them billyclubs like england and only military get weapons. Wouldn’t that be a typical military dictatorship? Why would you in government and police work to disarm yourselfs and your families? Makes no sense to me unless they hate their own families and friends. Maybe they should hate the government more than their own families and friends? Maybe if you are going to disarm anyone it might be those that are trying to globalize everything under one government?

Our for fathers were called terrorist and they were few. But they believed in what they were fighting for and the worst type of enemy is one that really believes in what he is fighting for. If the police and the army say no to disarmament and marshal law and road block etc, then there will be no blood shed. they can’t fight us if they have on one backing them. Remember this anyone in the law enforcement or military without you they have nothing and you took the same oath we did when we joined the military years ago. Even if a few do decide to follow them they still can’t if you follow your oath and resign as I have talk with many soldiers that said they would.You thiunk it will be easy to defend our service and police men you are sadly mistaken not without many deaths. It will take them to not go up against us. They are the best in the world and they train everyday all the time. It will be them that will make us or break us. This is buisness as usual for our represenitive republic,as anyone with a working knowlege of American history knows.All throughout our history our elite owned government has crushed with brute force and stealth practicaly all populace uprisings.So much for freedom of thought in the USA;it does not exist now,nor has it ever.It is very telling that even our own revolution was in actuality a political and military coup supported by a mere five percent of the colonial population.And yes,you guessed it,that five percent represeneted the wealthiest segment of the population at that time.You should know that the bill of rights was seen by the majority of the country’s founders as more or less a nessacary concesion to the people in order to maintain dominion over the people. The founding” fathers” contrary to popular belief,never favored a democratic government of any sort.The majority of the founders favored rule by wealth and blood relation.They were wise enough however to allow for a medicum of populace power in order to garnish the over all support of the common people.However,examine any segment of our history and you will find with few exceptions,that our nation has always been one dominated by minority wealth . You should not think even for a moment that there is some rosey point in our history when the common people enjoyed self rule,and or were without exception allowed the excersise of every natural right listed in the bill of rights.Practicaly without exception, any threat or percieved threat to the wealthy ruling elite by the common people,was crushed via use of police ,military and or propaganda.
It has been said that” power corrupts and absolute power absolutley corrupts”. This being the case we should be aware then that since money,”wealth” is in fact a form of power,that the American people can expect nothing but corruption as a fact of life for as long as this country is ruled by a wealthy upper class.Corruption has defined our history and corruption will in the absence of popular rule,define our future.
