Secret Plan To Kill Internet By 2012 Leaked?

Some question if report that pay-per-view system to be introduced is a hoax, but wider march to regulate the web is documented

ISP’s have resolved to restrict the Internet to a TV-like subscription model where users will be forced to pay to visit selected corporate websites by 2012, while others will be blocked, according to a leaked report. Despite some people dismissing the story as a hoax, the wider plan to kill the traditional Internet and replace it with a regulated and controlled Internet 2 is manifestly provable.
"Bell Canada and TELUS (formerly owned by Verizon) employees officially confirm that by 2012 ISP’s all over the globe will reduce Internet access to a TV-like subscription model, only offering access to a small standard amount of commercial sites and require extra fees for every other site you visit. These ‘other’ sites would then lose all their exposure and eventually shut down, resulting in what could be seen as the end of the Internet," warns a report that has spread like wildfire across the web over the last few days.
The article, which is accompanied by a You Tube clip, states that Time Magazine writer "Dylan Pattyn" has confirmed the information and is about to release a story – and that the move to effectively shut down the web could come as soon as 2010.

People have raised questions about the report’s accuracy because the claims are not backed by another source, only the "promise" that a Time Magazine report is set to confirm the rumor. Until such a report emerges many have reserved judgment or outright dismissed the story as a hoax.
What is documented, as the story underscores, is the fact that TELUS’ wireless web package allows only restricted pay-per-view access to a selection of corporate and news websites. This is the model that the post-2012 Internet would be based on.
People have noted that the authors of the video seem to be more concerned about getting people to subscribe to their You Tube account than fighting for net neutrality by prominently featuring an attractive woman who isn’t shy about showing her cleavage. The vast majority of the other You Tube videos hosted on the same account consist of bizarre avante-garde satire skits on behalf of the same people featured in the Internet freedom clip. This has prompted many to suspect that the Internet story is merely a stunt to draw attention to the group.
Whether the report is accurate or merely a crude hoax, there is a very real agenda to restrict, regulate and suffocate the free use of the Internet and we have been documenting its progression for years.
The first steps in a move to charge for every e mail sent have already been taken. Under the pretext of eliminating spam, Bill Gates and other industry chieftains have proposed Internet users buy credit stamps which denote how many e mails they will be able to send. This of course is the death knell for political newsletters and mailing lists.

The New York Times reported that "America Online and Yahoo, two of the world’s largest providers of e-mail accounts, are about to start using a system that gives preferential treatment to messages from companies that pay from 1/4 of a cent to a penny each to have them delivered. The senders must promise to contact only people who have agreed to receive their messages, or risk being blocked entirely."
The first wave will simply attempt to price people out of using the conventional Internet and force people over to Internet 2, a state regulated hub where permission will need to be obtained directly from an FCC or government bureau to set up a website.
The original Internet will then be turned into a mass surveillance database and marketing tool. The Nation magazine reported in 2006 that, "Verizon, Comcast, Bell South and other communications giants are developing strategies that would track and store information on our every move in cyberspace in a vast data-collection and marketing system, the scope of which could rival the National Security Agency. According to white papers now being circulated in the cable, telephone and telecommunications industries, those with the deepest pockets–corporations, special-interest groups and major advertisers–would get preferred treatment. Content from these providers would have first priority on our computer and television screens, while information seen as undesirable, such as peer-to-peer communications, could be relegated to a slow lane or simply shut out."
Over the past few years, a chorus of propaganda intended to demonize the Internet and further lead it down a path of strict control has spewed forth from numerous establishment organs:
- Time magazine reported last year that researchers funded by the federal government want to shut down the internet and start over, citing the fact that at the moment there are loopholes in the system whereby users cannot be tracked and traced all the time.
- In a display of bi-partisanship, there have recently been calls for all
out mandatory ISP snooping on all US citizens by both Democrats and Republicans alike. -
The White House’s own recently de-classified
strategy for "winning the war on terror" targets Internet conspiracy theories as a recruiting ground for terrorists and threatens to "diminish" their influence. -
The Pentagon recently announced its effort to infiltrate
the Internet and propagandize for the war on terror. -
In a speech last October, Homeland Security director Michael Chertoff identified the web as a "terror training camp," through which "disaffected people living in the United States" are developing "radical ideologies and potentially violent skills."
His solution is "intelligence fusion centers," staffed by Homeland Security personnel which will go into operation next year. -
The U.S. Government wants to force bloggers and online grassroots activists to register and regularly report their activities to Congress. Criminal charges including a possible jail term of up to one year could be the punishment for non-compliance.

A landmark legal case on behalf of the Recording Industry Association of America and other global trade organizations seeks to criminalize all Internet file sharing of any kind as copyright infringement, effectively shutting down the world wide web – and their argument is supported by the U.S. government.

A landmark legal ruling in Sydney goes further than ever before in setting the trap door for the destruction of the Internet as we know it and the end of alternative news websites and blogs by creating the precedent that simply linking to other websites is breach of copyright and piracy.

The European Union, led by former Stalinist and potential future British Prime Minister John Reid, has also vowed to shut down "terrorists" who use the Internet to spread propaganda.

The EU data retention bill, passed last year after much controversy and with implementation tabled for late 2007, obliges telephone operators and internet service providers to store information on who called who and who emailed who for at least six months. Under this law, investigators in any EU country, and most bizarrely even in the US, can access EU citizens’ data on phone calls, SMS messages, emails and instant messaging services.

The EU also recently proposed legislation that would prevent users from uploading any form of video without a license.
- The US government is also funding research into social networking sites and how to gather and store personal data published on them, according to the New Scientist magazine. "At the same time, US lawmakers are attempting to force the social networking sites themselves to control the amount and kind of information that people, particularly children, can put on the sites."

The development of a new form of internet with new regulations is also designed to create an online caste system whereby the old internet hubs would be allowed to break down and die, forcing people to use the new taxable, censored and regulated world wide web.
Make no mistake, the internet, one of the greatest outposts of free speech ever created is under constant attack by powerful people who cannot operate within a society where information flows freely and unhindered. Both American and European moves mimic stories we hear every week out of state controlled Communist China, where the internet is strictly regulated and virtually exists as its own entity away from the rest of the web.
The Internet is freedom’s best friend and the bane of control freaks. Its eradication is one of the short term goals of those that seek to centralize power and subjugate their populations under tyranny by eliminating the right to protest and educate others by the forum of

I’m suprised they haven’t taken our internet already, I came on line a year ago, 49 I didn’t have a clue. Wasn’t till I found prison planet that I became imformed. I don’t believe the internet can be regulated. BUT, if for some crazy reason it does become that way, I will give up all cable, satellite TV and ISP services. Lets see what happens when they lose all their customers/businesses.

Here is a question for people much smarter than me: If the internet was to be shut down as stated above, what would be our alternative? How could information be effectively transmitted between people? Is there a way to create our own information web that would be outside of globalist control?

Not everything the NWO does works, look at the Iraq war. If they completely shut down or regulate the Internet to death, people will stop using it and find another way. When they take the Internet which is a big part of the 1st amendment, then we will have to use the second amendment to get it back. This is why we have the second amendment in the first place to back up the first amendment.

I think there should be a class-action law suit for royalties from every internet domain owner who’s site could possibly be restricted by this plan. If the ISPs want to make money on it, fine, but then they have to respect intellectual property rights and pay the people for their restrictive behavior because they are claiming a monopoly over my and millions of other’s property, even if it only exists as a file on a server somewhere.

Ok basically I agree with whats being posted most of the time. But this is pure Bullshit. They already have regulated internet. You pay to use it. They may jack up the price and when the ISP switch to Fiberoptic technology. Things will change probably be more expensive and with the new modems you’d get they would regulate you. But there are ways around to get free internet. Its legal in the aspect of hey its like air its free. But if the Gov’t caught you with your equipment by lets say tracing your Mac address to your IP. But if those dont match then they’ve really got a pickle on there hands. You might not be paying for the ISP nor have a Mac address tied to your modem, so to who ever is monitoring you your 2 people. But really your neither.
Sorry sounds kind of jibberishy. But I’ll sum it up. Hack your modems when you get them. I wont tell you how and Im sure some fucking idiot is going to say not possible or that I dont know what Im talking about which is fine. As an Employee of a major ISP. i can absolutely confirm the above story as factual and true. I have personally attended meetings where they discussed such strategies. The way it was explained to me in the meeting was imagine Main street or a major thoroughfare through town now store fronts set up along the thoroughfare to attract shoppers being me and you. Now in the internet world, that thoroughfare is an OC-12, OC-3 pipe and Google, Yahoo and other major search engines are the storefronts. now Google and Yahoo are cash cows and ISPs like Verizon, Comcast etc are jealous because they do not see any of the profit that these stores are earning even though they maintain the infrastructure “super highway” that makes those profits possible. What ISPs are going to do is turn Broadstreet or the thoroughfare into a toll road and they want to charge the storefronts per customer that go to their storefronts. This will make the internet prohibitively very expensive because the store fronts are not about to eat the cost. they will pass the cost along to you in the form of a marked up charge so they make a little money too.

Well. There will always be ham (amateur) radio. You can generate enough power on your own and your radios do not require any infrastructure to operate. Morse code is the second oldest digital (binary) means of communication, some time after the wink. There are some amazing things that can be done with ham radio and computers. Using spread spectrum and burst transmissions and controlling through Linux, radios can even achieve a certain stealth. And all that is without the use of the Internet.
Don’t misunderstand me. I would really be sad to see the Internet go under. It’s wonderfully visual. Video of events and opinions are a joy to have available. But as to freedom of communication – as another contributor mentioned – the geeks will prevail.

We had a hurricane in my area. All electricity, cable and utilities were gone. Neighbors got out and talked to each other. We helped each other. We got to know one another. It felt like I was back in the 50’s and 60’s. I should know, I was born in 1951. Personally, I think they’ll market this “new internet” to the sheeple by continuing the lies about the “bandwidth reaching its saturation point”. Now, here’s the “new internet”, which is FASTER! and CHEAPER! And it has room for the bandwidth to grow for a long time, so you’ll get to watch your YouTube FASTER! People will easily fall for this lie.
This article is the first I’ve heard of what will happen to the “old” internet. But I don’t honestly worry about it. Geeks and hackers will find a way around this “new” thing, just as they’ve found ways around every other obstacle placed in their paths. That’s why it’s a good idea to befriend some computer geeks now. They’ll be useful allies in the future. Plus, a lot of them are pretty cool people anyway.

Why do hackers believe they can keep the internet alive when it will probably only be them who enjoys that ability when the time comes that the internet is pimp-slapped back into jail by the rulers of the world with 99.99% or so of people blocked from all original content?

COULD RUSSIA BE THE ANSWER?
My perfect scenereo would be a country like Russia with it’s technological capabilities would jump at the chance at saving the FREE www by developing internet connection via the satellite with a connection card you would install in your computer that is hooked up to a simple, cheep disc you would place on top of your computer, like the old school rabbit ears. That way you can bi-pass the phone line connection, go straight to the satellite and give the middle finger to internet 2.
I’m indulging in this fantasy hoping someone is already on this and is developing an alternative to www2. So, by the time they roll out internet 2, millions would have already gone down to the nearest Radio Shack and bought and installed the FREE www satellite connection software and “pulled our plug” to Verizon or Comcast.
Russia would be perfect because they would have the capabilities and it would be a wonderful way to make some money for Russia as well. I would be more than willing to pay Russia $30 or $40 a month for FREE internet access.
They do have “Russia Today” news channel beaming in the US and all over the world, so why can’t they have a FREE www internet connection beaming all over the world? It would make them $billions!!!
Let’s hope I had a psychic, claravoint expirence when I endulged in this fantasy where I saw the future of FREE www and someone comming to save it.

Mike we need to get the information we already have. I’ve lived in 3 California towns (sized (26000 – 6000) since Bush’s coup and I’ve successfully convinced enough people about movement towards total control in 2. Find the mechanism of control & scapegoating (Police Brutality, cutting food programs (see pellagra in Wikipedia) to create mental illness, mental health and shelters that create stress (refer people to information about stress (Bruce Lipton Perceptions on youtube) or “fight or flight”. Take the pulse of your town, figure out what they are ready to agree to next (ie Bush has less than 30% approval, about 80% think he lied about Iraq,, 90%+ think renewable energy is a good idea) hang your argument on that, to show how we’re moving towards fascism. Don’t Harp on HAARP or other SEEMINGLY far out ideas, they’ve seen fascism creeping into their lives. Decide which media is appropriate, flyer or city council (whoever is receptive to change). If they shut down the net,your town will be educated that it’s a fascist plot, blame will be one the guilty, and whenever people use the phone, or go on vacation, the word will spread.

Freedom is gone…I lived before without the internet and cell phones and credit and the other distractions. I can do it now…if everybody else would do that, we would have no problem…but people will bitch and moan when they find out about “net 2″ and then, like good slaves, they will comply…cause they like their gadgets and technology. If everybody said fuck it for a few years and all moved into tents and really scaled down their living, these lifesuckers would not get away with all of this. Your going to be living in tents anyway, why not start now to get the upper hand. Keep paying the mortgage but cut the power especially in the summer…stop driving the car everywhere/ Help those who have nothing and watch the smile and sincere thanks you get. Humanity would change if people took back their independence. OR are we too afraid to give up the bidet and so some time with nature. Wouldn’t it be nice to know you can do it before your forced to. If enough people took this advice, it might really make a difference. Worse case scenario, you save a lot of money to buy food and stock pile it. Just some quick thoughts.

I can see it now. A new terrorist hit, worse than 9/11, hits us. After further “investigation”, authorities “find” that the major means of communication was through the Internet and not picked up by surveillance due to some “loophole.” Homeland Security, if you really want to call it that, speeds up a law/act that leads to Internet 2 where everybody needs to register and pay (the FCC) in order to use the new and now secured (manipulated) Internet. The old means (as we know it now) will be filtered to duplicate China’s limited access.
Thanks to an old friend and infowars, my eyes are opening with what is really going on. Finding out about Bilderberg and the lack of media attention only opened my eyes more.

Alex, I know you mean well but you’re not always straight on the facts. I have noticed quite a few times now that you will say one thing and a few minutes later say something else.
The glaring error in this story is that TELUS was never owned by Verizon. TELUS originally was known as AGT or Alberta Government Telephone. They bought EdTel (Edmonton Telephone) and when they expanded into British Columbia, they changed their name to TELUS. The explanation was, that they didn’t want to operate in a different province under the “Alberta” name.

Of all the comments I went through, the ones that stuck out were these five posts. I wish there were more people like this. These are the ones that really shine in dark places!!!!

After reading this article, I hastily wrote my little 2c worth post, then after that, got out of my hot apartment and took a walk down to the corner store for some liquids thinking about the article and my comment on it.
This is where Janice’s post stood out to me. As I was walking to the corner store I remembered that there were times when people didn’t have the internet. There was a time when people didn’t even have radio or TV, and yet, information got around either through books, pamphlets, public lectures or through social gatherings where information was passed around.
I like her statement. I quote: “We had a hurricane in my area. All electricity, cable and utilities were gone. Neighbors got out and talked to each other. We helped each other. We got to know one another. It felt like I was back in the 50’s and 60’s. I should know, I was born in 1951. They can make the internet and television so expensive that we won’t pay, but they will leave us with something much better.”
Back in the old days, people had to depend on much reading or by doing the research themselves. People had to depend on their own inclinations and intellect to gather, understand what they have gathered, digest it for their personal use and dissiminate to others relevent information. They had to do the work. No Alex Jones or Infowars.com. to do it for them. That’s why when you read their works, you see developed intelligence, deep though (brought out by developed intelligence) and a commanding language, rich with discriptive adjetives.
People have brought down kings, dictators and governments with the correct and deliberate choice of language with passion. They did it without the internet.
In 1776, there was no http://www.declerationofindependence.org to start a revolution. It was intelligent men, the printed word, Paul Revers (a sort of 18th century verson of an e-mail alert), and people able to recieve (no i-pods in their ears) and pro-actavate the revolution.
Read and listen to their speaches. You can see the intelligence and passion in them. Cyberspace can sometimes actualy make you intellectualy and physicaly lazy.
That was also back in the day when people ate better food and didn’t drink florinated water.
I also, in my little “walk to the corner store” meditation, was also thinking that someone is already creating an alternative to internet2. I think that we are “too far gone” (in a postive conotation) to be brought back to the 19th century.
No one could be able to afford the extra fees for internet connections and bandwidth use. Internet2 will fail because no one could afford it, except maybe 20% of the population. That would make it not very profitable. Starting internet2 during the povitization of the West: It would be like opening a huge Sacks 5th Avenue store in South Los Angeles. Millions of “potential customers”, but no one entering the doors because no one in South Los Angeles can afford $120 for a sweater.
That brings in the entreprenuers that kind of provides circumstancial evidence to my alternative internet hyposis who will come up to the plate and provide an the alternative. With millions unable or not willing to endulge in internet2, someone, somewhere, possibly in Russia or maybe Venuezuela, even here in the US, UK or Canada could come up with the altrenative. with a potential of making $billions!
As I eluded to in my earlier post, the perfect scenereo would be where you could go down to your local Radio Shack store, buy for $200 an internet kit, intall a internet card, plug in a coaxale to a small satellite disc you can sit on top of your tower and get FREE internet connection for $30 or $40 a month via direct satellite, by-passing the phone line and giving Verizon, Comcast and Bell Canada the middle finger and turning internet2 into another commercial flop like the “new Coke” Coke-Cola came out with back in the 80’s.
Remember that infamous, embarrising flop that almost bankrupt Coke-Cola?
Even it that is a nice, but more of a polyannic fantasy, as 2dumb stated, and I quote:
” There are some amazing things that can be done with ham radio and computers. Using spread spectrum and burst transmissions and controlling through Linux, radios can even achieve a certain stealth. And all that is without the use of the Internet. ”
That certainly doesn’t sound “2dumb” to me!
Much better than Evengelical Athesits Priest’s infintile rant! He or she gives sceptics, like me, I admit, a bad name. I bet if this person didn’t have the internet, he, or she, would not have oppertunity to indulge in such childish trivial and be forced to think more, read more and articulate like an adult. Perhaps act like an adult as well. Anyway….
To sumerize what I have been saying is that internet2 is a disaster, which all of us can agree with. How it will be a disaster may in that, visualize in 30 years from now on the History Channel in Holographic TV, over the FREE internet, a one hour program on the world’s top 10 corporate flops in the last 100 years. Up there with the “New Coke and the Edsiel will be internet2.
In the mean time while we may not have internet connection for a certain period of time whist the entreprenuers are busy creating an alternative to internet2 and us patiently waiting for internet2 to fail, people will be forced to socialize again, find mates and dates the natural way, use their wits and immagination, read more books; and like being forced to socialize again, being forced to get off their asses if you want to remain ceberialy healthy and go down to their local library (this crisis may save libraries!) and do time comsumming research in order to learn and spread information.
So, while our computer screens are blank, we can use those many hours we would waste many times on the internet in triviality to learn to use other old school methods of learning, and with that better cognitive development as demonstrated in the writings and actions of heros and good leaders of the past.
In other words, the internet2 disaster may be a disaster on the providers. while a blessing in disguse for the people of the world.

This will not happen and if it does who really cares. There may be an elite running the government but there is an elite on the internet and these are the people who can bust into the govt elites computers. We already run traffic on top of normal traffic and no one knows what we are doing. We have are own encryption schemes that we created that the govt does not know about. We can for example run something over one port for 5 packets then switch to another port for 2 packets then switch again to another port for 30 packets. This makes it hard to trace and looks like basic legit traffic. We can do this over AOL if we needed/wanted to. The ISP’s do not even know this is going on or how to detect this even after I have just talked about this because I did not give the full story about what is being done. The only way to stop this would be to shut down everything that can transmit data which included the internet (cable,dsl,phone,etc), satelites, phones, cell phones, radios, etc. We may not have the internet as it is right now with all of the pretty pictures but we could still get the word out with a little effort. Hold on to your phone modems and serial ports as if we need to we can fall back onto that technology. We will work with the china, russian, etc hackers if need to be.

It is entirely possible to stop internet traffic at the routing level regardless of encryption and particular ports used. Since 2002, there have been packet sniffers that are able to sniff inside encryption. They can and will sniff and drop packets no matter where they originate and terminate, to interrupt your traffic if they so desire.
If you have developed your own encryption (unlikely,) then you will be limited to communicating with the few friends that are involved with your group. Anything larger could be infiltrated, and all your years of hard work on encryption will be broken much faster than you can reinvent it. The only thing that might work is developing your own PROTOCOL instead of relying on encrypting TCP/IP packets. Of course, your own protocol again would be limited to those in which you share the info, and of course could eventually be blocked at the routing level.
One thing that CAN be done is to completely annihilate any Internet2 traffic providers, before they have complete control. Disrupting their operations and hopefully ruining the idea of shiny new I2 in the eyes of the general public, thus slowing the I2 development. This can buy time, but of course, anyone creating such disruptions will be treated as a terrorist.
Sadly, the nature of computer networks allows the government to completely control network traffic.
People should just QUIT.
Quit using their filthy fiat money.
Quit paying taxes.
Quit earning income.
Quit going to work.
Quit going to school.
Quit using roads.
Quit using hospitals.
Quit using computers.
Quit using mail.
Quit anything and everything that is their matrix.

This is a little skewed…the battle for net neutrality was brought up because of ISP’s slowing down access to certain applications such as Bit Torrent. Bell & Telus brought up the idea of charging extra for faster routes to popular sites such as Facebook & Youtube…those who don’t want to pay get routed through the “back mountain log road” for access to the site (which will obviously be slower). Don’t get me wrong; that is crap; however, it is a far cry from what is being said in this article.

As long as there is an open port there is a way into a system. AS long as information flows between two computers there is a way to hack a network.

It won’t really matter if the internet is shut down, reconfigured, or even replaced by an new one. They already have a control grid in place on the media and in telecommunications. So by February 2009 to view television shows in the US you will either have to buy into cable TV or purchase a converter box to tune in. This is just another way of tracking what we watch, limiting our freedom, and increasing our debts. Also since the early 1990’s they have continued to increase the frequency of spying on the American public by easedropping on our phone calls and reading our email. These restrictions to our privacy have all been made legal since Homeland Security took over their operations with the Patriot Act being in effect due to the War On Terror. Currently our major media mogels won’t report this news about the internet since they are already controlled willingly or unwillingly by the powers that be. Even tho I have seen 1 commercial on a network affiliate about starting up a second internet. But will this all really matter, because there is a good chance that by next year the USA won’t exist as we know it. Yes, that means that the Neocons and the NWO Elite will probably have their way by establishing a North American Union. Also if US history dictates and possibly repeats itself we may have another self-inflicted terror attack on our soil and even a larger War On Terror. This means that we maybe living in a Police State under Martial Law with a Military Draft. Those who don’t submit to this system of restricted movement, assembly, speach will be pressed into either a state controled military, forced labor, or imprisioned service. I for one would rather die than have this happen to me or my fellow countrymen. Who konws if this will all come true, only we can stop it and change it, if we stand up and be counted, get the word out and take action. Even if it does take place and they set up and/or make more head way towards their NWO, they’ll never really win in the end. Because it may not matter at all, since time could be running out for them as well as us. According to many scientists, scholars, psychics, and prophets of ancient and modern day times these next few years could be the last for our planet and our history as we know it. I’m sure we all familar with the stories surrounding the End of Days, the End of Times, or the End of The Age (begining of a New Age), but are we really sure about what this means or weither it may happen. Surely something is happening to us on a social, political, and spiritual level coinciding with our earthly and solar environments. These earth and solar changes may become more pronounced and forthcoming due to certain facts and theories of a speculative nature. Most of these revolve around the theories of the Mayan Calendar, the year 2012, and Planet X (Nibiru or Wormwood) and how they relate to biblical and other indigenious prophecy. If these facts hold true and these learned and God gifted people are right, then we are all running out of time and living on a world that could be meeting its own fate as well as ours. So if this all comes to pass or not, lets try to remember to live peacefully and love one another before its to late. Even if they do win or not, there maybe a better world waiting for us just around the corner.

If this is true in any way, what we should be doing is finding alternate ways to communicate- a citizen-created Internet for example. Underground radio, underground tv, ham radio, etc, are all other means by which we should be able to organize and stay in contact as an informational/educational/etc army.
The Global Elite Brotherhood is obviously determined to cut off *all* means of resistance, and the Internet has been under attack for years as one of the central devices of the People of the world that they have not (so far) been able to squash.
Let’s keep it that way.
But let’s not get so dependent on it that it is our only (or central) means of planning and communicating.

We are finally starting to notice the effects of our own inactions. We have relinquished our rights to the government every time they want to regulate, control or dictate. We had let it go with abortion, gun control, teenage drivers, morality, smoking and many many more simple choices.
We have never held our government responsible for the manipulations, deceptions or down right lies. The current people running todays government and corporate worlds are the ‘Baby Boomers’. They have apparently forgotten what they were protesting about as young adults.
This country is ripe for its citizens to demand more respect and accountability from those who claim “It’s in your best interest.” I am the only one who knows what is in my best interest. I have to do this for my children until they are 18 and then it is all theirs. If I wanted someone to take on my responsibilities and dictate my every action I would have stayed with my parents.
We must realize we are doing more harm than good. We are leaving this “Government” to a future generation who will not know or understand the basic principles of “True Freedom”. Our ancestors believed in this and even died for it…are we so self-absorbed to just throw it away?
Stop…Think…Wake Up…Take back…. what is right, moral and just. Lets take back the freedom, the control and regain our voice in government….if not for ourselves for the future generations.

When existing surveillance equipment is connected to the web, and all internet usage is sotred in a database.
It wouldn’t take too many geniuses to develop software to analyze the information and flag up “undesirable behavior”.
It wouldn’t take too much imagination to then criminalise such activity or even backdate crimes.
It also wouldn’t take a genius to alter the information stored in the database in order to supply ‘evidence’ of e/crime or “terrorist” activity.
Or simply just hack into it for your biometric identity to steal…
Who would question the integrity of the database? Especially if it was sold as absolutely secure!
For that matter.. Who would give you the option of questioning it??

I live in Asia and it’s the way it already is.
In Korea you must post your citizen ID number, just to make sure your not posting “illegal” anti-government type idea’s.
It can happen. To maintain freedom of thought and expression requires a serious set of beliefs and a willingness to stand up for them. This is already a fight if you live “outside” the free world (Asia and other places).
Boobs aside, through knowledge and confidence in legitimacy, YOU must protect what you have. Freedom (of thought and ideas and things you disagree with) is so easily grasped away from you.
Stand up (really stand up, do something, really fight for what you believe, and fight hard), don’t give up, and make the world a better place (even if those other guys on the Internet have nothing better to say and disagree with what you say).
Evil capitalism and evil communism aside, fight for what’s right. Free speech is what makes the world a better place. Only from you can the world be a better place (silly, but a battle without warriors is not a battle but a lame idea with nowhere to go). Defend freedom, against what you believe and for what you believe!

There are to many ways around it, such as SSL Proxies. you guys are all full of shit and don’t understand what your talking about. if you have an encapsulated packed over ssl the ISP’s cant do anything about it. Not to mention even if they try they would have so many hackers, crackers and skript kiddies screwing everything up for them. The criminal government will do their best to stop the comeback of BBSes. I think they will probably achieve this by staging the elimination of all landline telephone service. BBSes are mainly dial-up, and I’m not sure if it’s possible for people to be able to access BBSes over wifi signals.

The problem with “underground” or “private” WANs (Internet is a WAN) is that there is nothing available to the public that can overcome distance. As a former university IT director, I can tell you that $1000 will get you a crude setup that will carry TCP/IP over copper wires for only short distances within a small campus area. Anything further will require fiber optic technology, commercial wireless towers, or existing telecommunications systems (that are owned by someone else.)
You can’t just go out and run a CatV cable down the ditch to a network bridge and then on to your pal’s house in the next subdivision. Someone will trash the cable, someone will complain about the cable in the ditch. The authorities will rip it out. You can’t go out there and dig a ditch down the side of the public roadway and run your own cable without being arrested. Your neighbors and the surrounding community aren’t going to put up with you running a cable across their land, let alone come in and start digging a ditch across their property.
Long runs of fiber optic that cross public/state properties are administered by the FCC and Public Service Commission (or your state’s equivalent.) So are giant wireless towers. Even if you own the land, they won’t let you erect a 150 foot tower without licensing, permits and inspections up the butt. The fees are astronomical (but that is another rant.)
Technically, the only possible way for someone to operate an underground ISP would be over existing telecom infrastructure using old dial up modems. The problem with that idea, is you would quickly be caught! The patriot act allows the phone company to easily find your modem with minor snooping, and they can easily disrupt modem traffic without significantly interrupting normal conversation over the network. So that idea will never get off the ground for more than a few months between a few peoples.
The very nature of computers, computer networks and software makes them easy tools to be controlled, and there is virtually nothing the common man can do to stop government control on the technical side, if the government wants it. For example, certain federal/state networks are completely controlled down to the individual TCP packet. All they have to do is find a way to make it mandatory for the ISPs to utilize the same technology.
Alex is right there in Austin – one of the largest IT communities on the planet. He should be able to find some people with more technical expertise to help with these articles so that the gibbering fools here take off on the wrong tangent that will lead them down the path to failure (in protecting the Internet from these globalist pigs.)
The only thing protecting the Internet and the only thing that can save the Internet is the thin, esoteric veil of your rapidly dwindling rights. Now that your rights are diminished, the Internet really is in jeopardy. In the long term, people won’t win the battle for technical control, but we do have a shot at winning as far as our rights to free speech and communication.
Its our only shot, and it is dwindling rapidly.

It is said that the internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.
This story does not pass the sniff test because so much of society is absolutely dependent on the non-web, non-email functions of the internet from GPS navigation, World of Warcraft, to embedded sensors measuring changes in the weather and stuff that shutting down the IPv4 classic internet is flat out implausible. Just as those services must continue to work, it will therefore be possible to run things such as freenet and the information will flow. Even without proper internet connectivity, it is still possible to run e-mail, usenet, and even FTP service over a long obsolete protocol known as UUCP, which allows computers with simple modems to dial up each other at pre-determined times and synchronize their data. This was how things were done before the internet. The only way to stop it is to end phone service. =P

Boycott seems to be the answer!! Should the worst happen, poor folks who can barely afford the free internet (e.g. “Internet 1″), will be forced to do without. If the rest of us follow suit, the issue will be pushed, and we, the consumer, may actually have some say in how we are “allowed” to use the internet. Keeping it free is the *best* way for the government to encourage use, and therefore track movements… it serves their interests to make it as easily accessible as possible.
The day I come to an “Internet 2″ website that tells me it will cost $1 to visit, or when email-stamps are at $0.50 a piece, is the day I start up a “Pony Express 2″ and use my old monitor as a mail bag.

Is it not possible that America is on the same road that forced your parents to leave Russia? Do you really want it to happen again? Some of us do not want it to happen at all in America.
It is the government who has the power to have us live the way you had. I do not live like I had 10 years ago. Federal and local governments have taken control of many choices, regulating what we can do and how we can do it.
We are just saying we can not be blind to what is starting to happen. You had lived the examples of what we need to be on guard for. Yes some people are going over-board but the immediate is more real than one might think.
Yes 9/11 happened, my Brother was a rescue worker and that day will haunt my family for the rest of our lives. But to be told you can not even go to Canada without a passport is one more example of that road crossing the ocean and is about to intersect with America.
I am glad your free from of it, but lets hope we are not going to get on that same road here. I am very good friends with people from Hungary, Russia and China and they agree with both of us.
Freedom of opinions is not in danger here in America (YET), so please allow others theirs, even if you don’t agree or if it is misdirected. A properly informed citizen can make the right choices without governmental involvement, but it is up to us to bring accurate information to their attention.
It is up to the citizens to see the bigger picture and not focus in on one thing that is immediately affecting them. This “internet thing” is just one more piece of the puzzle and the picture that is forming is that of your former Russian governmental beliefs.

Hey anybody still skeptical about the new internet; it’s true, and it’s starting to happen in the “good” old USA. I’m typing this from my work computer at a major international ISP so that I can provide some info from direct inter-company literature, I know it doesnt say much about what is going to happen but it points out the reasoning behind what is already happening. I will not give out the name of the company I work for but here are some of the highlights from the company e-mail about “consumption based billing”

If not let me clue you in on something, Alex Jones writing this article basically said whatever he wanted to. There is not point in the time magazine article that says there are researchers backed by the government working on shutting down the internet. Actually it says individual research at prominent universities is going on but, the cost of shutting down the internet and starting a new one would cost $350 million, and they dont know for sure if the government is going to foot the bill. So just like other articles this Alex Jones has written its full of loopholes and information that is just blantently incorrect. So you all can follow this man blindly or you can think on your own and do your own research, and not read articles that are one mans opinion and gross mis-interpretations of someone elses writings.

Alright lets not get on the 9/11 topic. I’m an aircraft mechanic and studying to be a mechanical engineer, so I definitely dont believe any of the 9/11 conspiracy theories. Well Mike I can agree that people in America are definitely divided and it is rather sad. I just hate the fact that Americans living in this country act like they have it so bad over here. If you want my opinion I feel most americans are a bunch of whiney idiots. They have it so good and have nothing better to do then sit around and dream up conspiracy theories to try and explain horrible events that happen in our country. I am an American and I feel very pleased where I am at in life and I am sure there are plenty of other people that feel the same way. The problem is people like Tomas Estrada who try to drive a wedge in between our society, forgetting the bottom line that we all live in the same country and need to learn to work together as a society and be more open minded about other peoples opinions, and not call them “neocons” for not agreeing. Our country was founded on the principle of free thought and free speech. I feel if these people feel so strongly about the government and want to do something about it, maybe they should get off their asses and do something about it instead of complaining on some website. Its just like the price of oil in our country, its not nearly as high as other countries, but instead of any American giving up their SUV for a much smaller more efficient car, they might actually be able to afford, they just complain, and complain, and complain about oil prices, instead of taking action. I myself on the otherhand use to own a truck and got rid of it for a much more economical Toyota. Again I am happy where I am at, so like you, I also laugh at the people who sit on the computer and complain about how we need to do something instead of standing up for what they feel is right. If you read all these posts people say “its time to do something”, well then just f-in do something instead of bitching about it on a computer. If these people felt so strongly about a subject don’t you think they would be out there organizing rallies, or gathering large groups of people to march on Washington D.C.? for those thinking if they kill the internet we will just end up creating a new one. Thats wishful thinking. i mean what are u going to do. buy a bunch of wire and build your own infrastructure. tap into existing lines to put your own traffic through them. that will only work for a short short time as it will be easy to pint point where the device is located. wireless. am that also can be triangulated. the thing is they will along with cutting the existing internet make any kind of private network illegal as having potential for criminal purposes as its unregulated. they will create laws that will restrict private wireless networks. they will do what ever they want as long as w are lazy and depend on the gov for everything. tell me what are u self dependant on. Power, Food, Water, Clothing from china. is there anything that u can provide for yourself in the event of a total breakdown. I know its a long shot, but i think we should all contact members of government, write to the media, hold demonstrations, pickets and other actions to wkae the nation up. we’ve got to do something now! Is your freedom important enough for you that you are willing take risks? for gods sake take action now. get all the human rights/civil liberties/anti-war/ left and right wing groups together on this.

We could do some of those demonstrations online. We still have YouTube, Blogger, MySpace, even Facebook.
Also think about the social networking possibilities for immigrants: what about those non-Canadian/non-American websites that keep them connected with their people and their customs? Have the governments thought of this?

it makes very much sense that the media controllers would want to stop free and uncensored communication among the people. the internet seems to catch too many people’s attention for their taste. prior to the internet there simply was no medium that allowed enough people to communicate in a way that could develop into a danger for the powers that be.
