Senate Moves Toward Ratification of U.N.’s ‘Law of the Sea Treaty’

The Senate is gearing up to ratify a Nixon-era U.N. treaty meant to create universal laws to govern the seas — a treaty critics say will create a massive U.N. bureaucracy that could even claim powers over American waterways.
LOST — the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, also called the Law of the Sea Treaty — regulates all things oceanic, from fishing rights, navigation lanes and environmental concerns to what lies beneath: the seabed’s oil and mineral wealth that companies hope to explore and exploit in coming years.

The U.N. began working on LOST in 1973, and 157 nations have signed on to the treaty since it was concluded in 1982. Yet it has been stuck in dry dock for nearly 30 years in the U.S. and never even been brought to a full vote before the Senate.
But swelling approval in the Senate and the combined support of the White House, State Department and U.S. Navy mean LOST may be ready to unfurl its sails again.
Sen. John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said during a January confirmation hearing that he intends to push for ratification. “We are now laying the groundwork for and expect to try to take up the Law of the Sea Treaty. So that will be one of the priorities of the committee, and the key here is just timing — how we proceed.”

The reason the Republican party shunned Ron Paul is because he is many things that they are not. He is honest. He is conservative. He follows the Constitution. He stays out of the affairs of sovereign nations. He is for small government. He is for open, fair and honest elections. He is for third party representation.

I sent 2 separate and differently worded emails regarding the “Law of the Sea Treaty” to Senator Dodd….a known criminal and permanent fixture in Connecticut and D.C.
Each response i received in return was a standard form letter heralding the ratification of the treaty and pretty much saying….i don’t give a crap what you want….this will come to be….
Since over one third of the people polled in this country can’t even name three branches of the government…you can bet nearly no one has even heard of this treaty….
We are screwed….get your s--- together, plan your escape and regroup later on when the smoke clears…it’s our only hope.

@mysty147: I did the same thing, and have yet to be afforded an answer from my Senators on this. If Mary Landrieu keeps to form, I won’t get an answer until after the vote passes, and it will be her telling me why she thought it was such a great idea, as well as how it will benefit all of us.

Hi this is your new world order, I am the illuminati. i am amazed at how you guys have all missed the point of the story. What we are doing with this “Treaty of the sea” is creating a blanked “harmonized” set of laws under the Admiralty statutes that is equal all through out the planet this is the judicial frame work for a one world goverment under a one world judiciary.
Admiralty laws or laws of the sea are what we tested here in the USA to switch from civil law to banking law for all Americans. This is the way we invalidate the Constitutions Bill of Rights by replacing these laws of the “land” with laws of the “Sea”
One world goverment is here and you guys that are somewhat illumed didn’t even notice the real meaning of this story.
