Sovereignty Resolution Introduced in Minnesota House of Representatives

Marty Seifert of the Minnesota House of Representatives has introduced the Minnesota Sovereignty resolution, HF997. It was first read and referred to State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology and Elections Committee on February 19. It is supported by 16 State Representatives.
The Minnesota State Legislature web page provides the following short description of the resolution: “Federal government memorialized to halt its practice of imposing mandates upon the states for purposes not enumerated by the Constitution of the United States and affirming Minnesota’s sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.”

The Tenth Amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” House File 997 advises federal judges, Congress, and the Executive branch not to impose mandates on Minnesota and other states which are beyond the powers of the federal government.

Minnesota follows Texas as the latest state to declare sovereignty from the federal government.
Beyond the pro-Constitution Campaign For Liberty website and the Liberty Forest forum, the introduction of the resolution received virtually no media coverage.

What does this mean? Is it a state level sovereignty bill that means unconstitutional federal powers cannot apply in this state? If so then it’s quite a significant move. Such a state would then resist any new gun laws that don’t comply to the second amendments.
Being a European, I not quite up to speed with this.

That is correct, essentially, the Constitution of the US grants certain powers explicitly to the Federal government and then states any power that is not explicitly granded to the federal government belongs either to the state or the people. So by the federal government expanding it’s power by saying “well it doesn’t say we CAN’T do it in the constitution” is, in essence, a direct violation of the constitution.

I just alluded to this in the letter I just emailed off to my House District Rep. at the MN Legislature..
First I sent an email to all of the co-sponsors applauding them for presenting the legislation, then to my own legislator (who is not listed amongst the co-sponsers — yet) I sent this:
“I am writing to express to you my sincere hope that you plan to support HF997. I’m certain you are aware of the importance of this legislation. With the federal government continuing it’s grotesque overstepping of authority provided to it by the Constitution, it is imperative we raise our voice along with the other states who are declaring their sovereignty.
Our rights, as citizens and as a state, have already been infringed upon more than is acceptable (which goes without saying as any encroachment on them is unacceptable).
I would also encourage you to promote legislation that opposes (more preferably, outlaws) participation in gun confiscation programs — either on a national or state level. The second amendment was placed in that position, second, for a reason, not as a throw away notion. Its meaning, value, and worthiness is no less important today than when the Bill of Rights was signed.
This is not Washington DC’s country to run. It is not the President’s country, or the Republicans, Democrats, or any other special interest group… it is WE the people’s country. When it is not being run correctly, it is our duty to correct its course. Unfortunately, the majority of the public seems to have forgotten this fact. Or perhaps, more sadly, they never learned it.
I trust that you will do the best you can to return us to, and preserve, the ideals this country was founded on; the ideals that made us great.”

I basically got 3 tips for ya:
1. The flash thing on your website grabs an unbelievable amount of resources. Check it out. There is something wrong with the programming or you#re running some kind of secret decentralized seti-calculation-type service
2. Make a video podcast. You’re already putting the video streams on the website, why not offer them (for subscribed customers ?) as podcast. That would be way more convenient and practical for the viewers, they’ll get the content automatically and can watch them on their mobile devices – yes, i know, snobby, but practical
3. Jason Bermas should get that musician who helped him on ‘loose change’. I’m talking about that part right at the beginning, where that caller calls in about the herde mentality, when the music starts and the people start running away from the dust cloud.. that music combined with the caller was just a genius work and made the movie so popular.. the sound design was just absolutely fantastic. So whoever did that music art, should continue.
Oh well, just some thoughts.

I am pushing my state to do the same…not much luck so far. Governors think one of two ways. They are understanding the federal government is out of control and do not want to be a part of it, and others think (falsely), if they go along they will get a piece of the pie. They dont know that even with their high status of governor, they will be slaves like the rest of us. They and their loved ones will breath the same chemtrail air as the rest of us, if ya get my metaphore here.

The problem being is the states can scream bloody murder all they want, but when the shit hits the fan and the states need help they’ll crawl on hands and knees for the feds to help them out. They’ll be the first ones in line to lick the boots of their masters. The state workers are the next ones in line to be fed workers, so they ain’t gonna make the waves to high. In the mean time, it looks all well and good to the general public, but it won’t hold water. The state workers have aulterier motives. They can’t hold the feds hostage or blackmail them. They’re not that powerful.

Irony of ironies is the midwest states coming on board with ’sovereignty’ resolutions when those very states made possible Lincoln’s conquest of the very same principle.

As a Minnesota native, I once again feel pride for the “land of 10,000 lakes!!!” For those in the region, check out the conference coming up on February 28th at mnc4l.org… We are working for similar legislation in North Dakota, and are not held back by the fact that the legislators decided not to pass HCR 3040 which was to urge Congress to withdraw from the SPP or any other multilateral or bilateral agreements which seek to create a North American Union. Although there were at least 15 people there in support of the resolution, and about 8 who testified (including myself *first time*)… WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea I live in Seattle and been following chemtrails for about 6 years now. We’re not out of the woods yet…not even close. But at least we are making our stand here in Minnesota! Thank God. And thanks to Rep. Seifert. I would be extatic, but I EXPECT this from our representatives. This is doing their job morally, ethically and legally. But I’d be lieing if I didn’t say it feels good to flip the perverbial “bird” to the feds and the big bankers! He-he-he

Does anyone know of a website or an article that has an updated list of all the states that have introduced or passed this type of legislation?
I sent an email to my state rep. about this movement. He didn’t take to the idea, he thinks that it’s some sort of move back toward confederacy. I plan on informing him more about it, or vote him out in the next election.

Thank you Minnesota, my home state. I had been wondering whether I might need to move to one of the 20+ states declaring their sovereignty from the federal government, something which the Constitution already grants them, but we all know that the feds stopped following the Constitution years ago. Then today, MN has a sovereignty resolution in House of Reps. It brought a tear to my eye.

You are right that ron paul is a fraud. He did vote in favor of the Afgan war and he continues to deny the truth about 9/11. I don’t trust paul and I have a problem with the fact that Alex does not challenge paul on his denial of 9/11 despite the hundreds of pieces of evidence.
paul is the old ‘lead the opposition yourself trick.
I do not believe that Alex is not on our side though. His work and the work of many others has been overall a good thing for us.

Oh and webster tarpley says on his show that if you are for the states seceeding then you are with the establishment. He says that lincoln was 1 of the greatest pres. ever and that he stopped the southern states from declaring Sovereignty and that’s what saved the country.
Some of the researchers and ‘leaders’ in the patriot/truth movement are not on our side. Which ones I don’t know.

Think about it people. The people email, petition, and call their Reps. all the time and sometimes in mass numbers to object to a particular Bill or what not. But it makes no difference, the state law makers ignore the people and piss all over the Constitution anyway.
So why is it that without mass numbers of people pressuring their states for sovereignty the states all of the sudden introduce the Bill at the same time?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The tenth amendment affords the states and peoples rights over that of Federal powers- yet clearly this is a mere road bump for the NWO, as our government is now over 90% saturated with it’s subversive agents- including the 2 highest offices in the land.
And so the art of it, is to convince the people that they need to be fucked in the ass.
Let’s not be coy. The people who deny the existence of FEMA death/slave camps, are the same mother fuckers who will rat you out later for a morsel of bread to put you in one- knowingly.
Ultimately, “rights” are only for those who are willing to defend them at all costs. Of course we would all love to see it resolved through free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and legislation using proper legal channels. Clearly God wants to test us further than this.
The Constitution is “just a piece of paper”- as is money itself, Shakespeare, the Bible, law, or anything else of mass recognized importance.
If the idea of the Constitution dies in our mind and hearts, then so does it. Whether the paper exists or not. And paper money only has value if we choose to recognize it as such beyond some good fire starter.
The Bible itself is “just a piece of paper”- yet it’s MEANING and authorship are special, as both the heavens and earth shall pass away, yet the word of the Lord is forever. To cross that word is both foolheardy and unwise, despite any percieved temporary gains.
Thoughts, ideas, feelings. People are moved by communications which resonate within their own selves as iconic, insightful, personal, patriotic, passionate, and truthful. Subject to deceptions, a little light shed on any matter can change the mind and heart of even the most stubborn. Yet I can’t even count how many people iv’e seen willfully blind with eyes wide open.
Since we seldom do it ourselves, it is necessary to recommend a “priority check” using various painful and daunting object lessons frequently. How selfish and silly must we look to the higher powers staring down! No one enters the kingdom save as a little child, which we are despite appearances we work so hard at keeping up.

Has anyone else seen this? I just crossed an article saying that Obama has asked dem senators to introduce legislation to amend the tenth amendment. This is clearly an attempt to pull the rug out from under the state sovereignty movement. So, people, if your state does not have one then call, email, write, our just show up at the offices of your state government and demand that they draft one immediately. Then make sure that they uphold their resolutions.

So, just to clarify for me please; does this mean that these States are now officially sovereign and disbanded from the US? Or that they have officially declared their intent to disband if something like martial law is declared?
If the mainstream media is ignoring something as serious as States officially disbanding, it would just show how completely and utterly bought the networks are…

The idea behind these resolutions is to put the government on notice that the states will not go along with or enforce any federal law that violates the Constitution.
They are reafirmming the 10th amendment.

These state bills are ‘resolutions’ which technically don’t really have ‘teeth’. The ‘teeth’ in the Constitution (U.S. AND all the state Constitutions) is the enumeration in the Second Amendment of the fact that we each have a God-given right to defend ourselves and our state governments (which are SUPPOSED to be sovereign) and our individual freedoms collectively by forming armed militias of the people- to defend against enemies foreign AND domestic. To say as these resolutions do that the federal government is hereby “memorialized” to back off is not nearly as strongly worded as they should be. They should be written as DEMAND notices to the feds to back off OR ELSE ! They should be similar in seriousness as the Declaration of Independence was in telling the Brits that we’ve had quite enough of your tyranny, but inlike the Dec. of Ind. told the old govt. by the Brits that you f***ers ain’t our govt. any more, the states should make it clear that the federal govt. based in Washington D.C. was NEVER supposed to be OVER the states. Every state legislator in the states passing the Demand notices should stand up in their assembly rooms and verbally yell together “BACK OFF FEDS OR ELSE!” or words to that effect, with each simultaniously raising a gun in the air! Let the globalist bankster bought-and-paid- for traitor scum in D.C. and the sheeple watching their teevees at home see THAT!

General Questions:
1) the Fed can still federalize each state’s National Guard Militia, right? I would think so.
2) what happens to the nukes, military bases and other Federal military assets residing in each state if things go so far as to have session on the table? That’s a far, far stretch from affirming the 10th Amendment but I think it is interesting to think about.

Lamar— In 2007, $338.3 BILLION was given in “REWARDS” to illegal alien for “breaking our laws”! ( Add on to this at least another couple of billion more for 2008…because our borders are still NOT MONITORED) This nasty government thing created a “DUBLE STANDARD” in that we Christians teach our children…NOT to break laws, and then our children watch these “illegals” get their college education for FREE from us taxpayers by BREAKING LAWS!!! Then add on the fact that “we taxpayers” also have to pay the “full amount for or own children’s education! ” WHERE OH WHERE is our governments ACCOUNTABILITY with this”???
Yet because they can pass such disastrous bills that are NEVER bought up in the debates by either party…I agree that no one in Washington can be trusted with our welfare in mind! Add to that, the above states clearly to me..they haven’t the slightest compassion for any of us!!!
However things are too bad in government …NOT TO GIVE THIS A SHOT!!!

I think many of you folks need to read the WHOLE Constitution. (How striking it is to me that so many so-called “constitutionalists” seem to have only read 10 amendments.) The Constitution provides for limited sovereignty of the states, and I have no trouble with states claiming that sovereignty. However, the Constitution leaves quite a bit on the table for the Federal Government. Sorry to be contrary, but I’m a military brat. I’m not really from any state. My ties are to the United States, not so much to the state in which I happen to reside. And where were you all when George Bush’s subordinates were advising him that he had almost dictatorial power?
