“Special Cloak of Protection” for California Cops, Bureaucrats

For no good reason, thousands of cars registered to Monterey County drivers are essentially exempt from parking tickets, exempt from citations for running red lights at intersections monitored by cameras, exempt from fees for toll roads.
These local cars are among the 996,000 California vehicles registered to owners employed by or affiliated with a long list of public safety agencies or quasi-public safety agencies. The owners, therefore, are able to keep their home addresses shielded from public disclosure under the state’s Confidential Records Program.
Once upon a time, the program made sense. Until 1990, criminals and everyone else could use license-plate numbers to get the home addresses of most Californians through Department of Motor Vehicles records. But after a couple of highly publicized stalker attacks on actresses Rebecca Schaeffer and Teresa Saldana, the law was changed to make all DMV address records off limits to the public while allowing law enforcement agencies to have access to home addresses—except those protected under the Confidential Records Program.

The confidentiality program had been in place for more than a decade. It should have been amended in 1990 to enable law enforcement agencies to obtain confidential DMV address information of anyone when necessary. But as the Orange County Register reported recently, police officers, relatives of police officers, parole agents, social workers, animal-control officers, judges, city council members, legislators and others remain under a special cloak of protection that does little to shield them from kooks or stalkers but that immunizes them from inconveniences such as parking fines and highway tolls. When they drive past a toll booth without paying, a ticket is generated but the highway authority can’t figure out where to send it.
The officers and the others get to keep the secret plates when they retire. If they change jobs and are no longer eligible, they can keep the protected plates for three years.
On one Southern California toll road, 3,722 vehicles traveled toll-free in the past five years because of the misplaced confidentiality. Many of those vehicles made hundreds of free trips.
Something should be done.
Assuming it can be accomplished in a way that doesn’t jeopardize public safety officials or their families, home address information should be available to other law enforcement agencies. Legislation has been introduced to do that.
Additionally, local agencies that employ people eligible for the program should take an extra step. If the numbers in Monterey County are average, as many as 13,000 vehicles on local roads today are eligible for the special confidentiality. Those involved in enforcing the law understand better than anyone that it works only when it is applied evenly and fairly. Those who have taken advantage of this loophole, this unintended consequence, should be encouraged or even required to pay any outstanding fines and to stop taking advantage.

Abuse goes up and down the ranks of the government workers, all the way up, and all they way down. In San Antonio, there is a large civilian government employee population. They are even abusive in attitude, and lord it over whoever has to deal with them through their jobs.
If they had special ’secret plates’, no telling how bad it would be there too.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods but up here, the county sheriff’s deputies drive their cruisers home. With a house number and a street address it is easy enough to know their names and get their phone numbers with a reverse lookup directory.
Other people who are subject to the confidentiality are prosecutors (with good cause), lawyers, judges(again with good cause
) and a large number of county mental health officials.

We have the means but not the will to end corruption at all levels of government. If the government were to use its available technology to monitor those that are are paid by tax dollars we would end a significant amount of corruption that currently exists but which is not pursued. All federal employees, state and local level are prime candidates for this idea. Law enforcement and any business that does business with the federal government or any state and local authority should all be monitored and have their email and phones monitored while we track their movements and associations. We could end corruption and return trillions of dollars back into domestic programs but alas the government would rather monitor its citizens under the pretense of fighting terrorism than to stop what they profit from. Ineptitude and criminal mentalities permeate our society all all levels. I for one think that it is time to stop the corruption and punish the real criminals of our society.

This alone should be enough for these globalists to reallize that Christ is risen and will gome again sometime in His glory to judge the living and the dead. When that time comes we all should be shaking in our boots! For the Terrible Judgement will terrify all of us. No lawyer can defend us then. No excuse can free us from what’s coming. You have to get off work sometime you crooked ass brown-shirt. My father was stalked by cops, because his worthless ex-wife was screwing around on him with a local sheriff. The whole department came after my family, after my old man caught them in bed and beat the hell out of him. It didn’t stop till sugar in the gas tank and a nice, friendly, blanket party. It must of just been a misunderstanding, because they left us alone after that.

If you ask me, this is a blatant recruiting attempt. They disseminate the information about the ‘privileges’ given to law enforcement officials and their families. Of course, it is peddled at a calculated frequency of repetition the elites have pre-determined. This frequency of repetitions gets the information out with a certain public outcry, which is not quite loud enough to change anything.
As a result, more people want to be police and nothing is done to correct the injustice. In this society, you will either be a policemen or a criminal. The only difference is one has a badge and commits the more damaging crime.
