A gun retailer in Fremont, Neb., received an apology from the national chain Staples after the office supply company rejected the gun store’s contest entry last month.
As part of its apology, Boston-based Staples promised to change its policy that excludes gun retailers from entering its small-business contests.
The owners of Maple Creek Gunsmithing, Bill Jackson and Travis Vonseggern, had entered the Staples-sponsored contest “Push It Forward,” then two days later received an email from the chain saying the gun store was not eligible to participate because the business promoted the use of firearms.
