State Dept. Nominee Says “Guns Kill Civil Society”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has scheduled a Wednesday vote on a State Department nominee who supports gun control on a global scale.
While advocates of the Second Amendment have come to expect that appointees of President Barack Obama would be hostile to the rights of gun owners, the president’s nominee for legal advisor to the State Department reaches a whole new level of anti-gun extremism.
Harold Hongju Koh, who served at the State Department under the Clinton administration, is a self-described “trans-nationalist” who believes that our laws — and our Constitution — should be brought into conformity with international agreements.
“If you want to be in the global environment, you have to play by the global rules,” Koh told a Cleveland audience.
Koh’s positions treat our constitutional law as if it were a mere local ordinance on the greater world stage. This is of particular concern to gun owners at a time when the U.S. Congress is under pressure from President Obama to ratify an international gun control treaty with countries in the western hemisphere. That treaty, known by its Spanish acronym CIFTA, would likely serve as a forerunner to a more extensive United Nations initiative, the “Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all its Aspects.”

In a paper entitled “A world drowning in guns,” Koh maintains that a civil society cannot exist with broad gun ownership: “Guns kill civil society,” he said.
Koh is eager to assume his post at the State Department, having lamented that there is only so much that can be done from the outside to push gun control treaties, and that ultimately we need people like him in positions of power. The chief lawyer for the State Department is just the position someone like him needs to put his agenda into play.
While Koh’s nomination has been delayed largely because of Second Amendment concerns, Sen. Reid plans to force a vote this week.
It is imperative that gun owners contact their Senators and insist that they vote AGAINST this anti-gun extremist.

When former UN Ambassador John Bolton told the world that the United States will not accept a gun control document that violates our Constitutional right to bear arms, Harold Koh commented that Bolton was being “needlessly provocative.”
And in a 2003 Fordham Law Review article entitled “A world drowning in guns,” Koh maintains that a civil society cannot exist with broad gun ownership: “Guns kill civil society,” he wrote.
I urge you to reject this trans-nationalist, anti-gun extremist who would place foreign laws and international agreements on equal footing (at minimum) with the U.S. Constitution.

I won’t own a gun, but I respect our forefather’s wish that we be able to protect ourselves. This is also why dog legislation is being passed against most “courageous” dog breeds too. (I’m a pitbull owner). They don’t want us to be able to do ANYTHING if someone attacks us but roll over and bleed. As a mother that is a frightening thought.
Police have weapons, the rich have body guards armed to the teeth.
Why isn’t my little boy allowed to even have a family dog to protect him? They arent just going for guns……..they are going for everything.

You’re not an American, you’re a brainwashed tool and a traitor to your country. David Koresh could have been picked up at any time by the government. The man jogged alone almost every single day without any protection whatsoever. The government called their church a “Compound” and used lies and false accusations in order to carry out a brutal attack on American citizens that resulted in the premeditated murder of 18 children.
It had nothing to do with David Koresh molesting children (which may or may not be true) and had everything to do with making an example of him in front of the American people. The warrant was issued on trumped up weapons charges based on the lies of an undercover BATF agent. Koresh allowed the undercover agent to leave his property unharmed after finding out the man was a BATF agent sent to spy on his church. Not exactly the actions of a dangerous terrorist huh?
In the documentary, Waco: Rules of Engagement, satellite images proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that BATF and the United States military prevented the children and adults from escaping the fires. The BATF and the military had snipers positioned around all viable exits and where shooting anyone who attempted to flee the burning building. The documentary proves beyond all doubt that the government started those fires purposely and that the government opened fire without provocation.

Yes it does violate SHALL NOT INFRINGE. As long as it is an unjustful confiscation. Like a guy on the defended his home and family from and invader obviously intending to hurt him and his family. The police call it a justified shoot but still take the man’s gun. Because it is POLICY. Um no you just justified the shooting as self defense there is no reason to confiscate the guns in the house. He did not commit a crime with them. This makes it an illegal confiscation. But the police do it all the time no matter what. This is in fact theft. Sorry about going off there. It is just that now the man has his guns away from him and is now defenseless. So now he can not defend his family from further attack even though he had committed no crime. And over the years I have seen this happen to so many people. And they just give them up with them being told that they will get them back after all is clear and that it is just policy or routine. So, now the Bush adminstration were actually the champions of the second ammendment. Six months ago this website was implying that they were secretly plotting to take everyone’s guns away. Now the tune has changed.

I’ve tried the damn titanium suppressor’s but they seem to resinate on “hot loads”. They are great at first, but the others seam to keep the DB reader lower after they warm up a bit. If you have any more info please let met know. Or provide a site I can go to. The one’s I’ve bought are out of WY. Great product, but they resinate.
Anyways, I have a rockriver 20″ bull barrel with a 1:8 twist, can on the end and well early days makes for a short morning for the prairie dogs!!

Ohh yeah.. I’ve been useing a Barnes X recomended for the 1:7 twist with the reloader 7. I tried the other powders but this one seems to do the trick as long as the rounds don’t fragment during flight. My good loads are hitting dogs at 300 yards with less than a 1″ drop! My record dog is 812 yrds. These are 223/5.56 mil. If you have any tips let me know!!

QSM is made in the UK, we tested it near Boise Idaho along with several others. It was the best for the .408 at the time of testing but I’m being told that a company by the name of GemTech out of Boise has one that is far superior to the QSM. I’ve also heard other good things from this Gemtech company on sidearms but I have not checked into them. As for your rounds fragmenting…this should not happen. Pick up a few brands, maybe 5, and you should find one that won’t breakup…Also don’t know what your shooting/loading specs are. Here is a link for ballistics, calc’s etc. You can find everything you need on the web though…but if your stuck or maxed out range wise contact your local gun club or something like it.

Factory ammo, maybe Federal or BlackHills…called a bud and he’s getting 1-1.5moa, no frag problems. Just curious, whats your spindrift distance @800yrds with that? and is it 1:7 or 1:9? 8′ drop @ 800 seems about right but i’m no expert there…the range I shoot on is 1900yrds and the ammo i use is hand crafted & stays supersonic well past 2,300yrds so there isn’t a hell of alot of drop.
BobLeeSwagger: you should see what the military has now the gun is said to cost $125,000 and the Optics for it are also said to be $125,000 /drool

Sorry.. 1:7 twist on that one. Not sure what you mean by “spindrift”. Are you talking about the natural drift of the round? (not including wind?) That is hard to measure due to the round and how well they are loaded. They are getting better since I got a sonic cleaner and am taking more time loading the longer range rounds. Also I finally figured out it works better using new cases instead of the old ones. I can’t believe the difference it made by having a quality case that hasn’t been trimmed. A few grains makes a difference!! Getting the suppressors takes the jump through the hole of a class 3 license. Normal turn around is 3-5 months, but worth the wait!! Shooting without having to wear “ears” is wonderful!!

Bob b.. Thanks for the website info. Seems like a site for people who can think!! It shocks me how many people hate guns and never fired one. Guns are like cars, certian types might not work for some people. As far as these so-called assault rifles, same damn rounds, same everything, they just seem to “look scary” to the stupid ones. I think it’s great people have many different types of guns. Not only are they a hobby for people to collect and shoot, but each style of gun has a history behind it! I’ve seen the old tommy gun’s aka thompson are making a come back.
I have to say I’m jealous of the range you get to go to. I have to find priarie land and use a ranger finder to get the distance you have. Must say!! I’m jealous. The two ranges I normally go to are great fun!! I’ve had to opportunity to shoot many different guns with alot of great people!! That’s another thing people don’t understand about shooters; us good guys are very safe with our guns and have fun shooting. It’s those weak ass little thugs who call themselves gang bangers that many libs try to save who are the problem.

Let’s consider the “No Fly List”. If you were truly a Terror suspect, you would command the full surveillance capability of TPTB. The last thing they would do is tip you off by identifying you as a suspect on a list when attempting to fly. It would send you underground and make tracking you much more difficult. This list is growing for another purpose. I think it is fairly clear that this is a list of undesirables.

For example,in 2004 there were over 34,000 white women who were raped by blacks in the US alone,while there were less than 10 cases of black women being raped by white men(some were fake like the Duke Lacrosse fiasco).
Imagine if these numbers were reversed,we would have national meetings about the issue and there would be severe hate crimes laws enacted as a response to the “poor black women” along with hourly updates on CNN to inform the nation of what is being done for this horrible situation.

Can some of this have to do with the lack of family values? What about the family raising there own kids so everyone else won’t have to? Most people who have families and are being responsible parents are busy with that. They don’t have time for Hillary’s “it takes a village to raise a kid” statement. Some Ruger LCP 380’s did go off, and they did a recall on them. I know, I wear one in my pocket every day. Not one person was hurt. I sent mine in and they upgraded the gun and gave me all kinds of cool stuff too.
Some guns are easy to disscharge like the god damn Glocks. I have one of those too, but never carry that one. Good guns, but if your holstering it you can blow a toe off. The only safety if a damn trigger. I like the springfields! XD 40 is a great gun to carry! The 1911’s are good to, but not so compact.

Go with a Glock 10mm auto… 16 shots and hits almost as hard as a .41 magnum
.40 cal is what law enforcment went to, after they found the 10mm too powerful for field duty… hits way harder than the .40/.45 with alot more rounds in the clip

LOL I agree the 45 will do the job!! When I was looking 5 years ago for my first hand gun, I wasn’t wanting to shoot the 9mm because the stopping power isn’t as good, so I shot the 45. At the time I wasn’t very accurit with it as I was with the 9mm, so I went to a good middle round and have stuck with it. It has power, and I’m very good at shooting the 40 now. On the 380’s behalf though. A well placed round will stop most anything. (f---…problem is; is the fact that the LCP is not supper accurit either.) Had to through that out before one of you did. My 380 gets me to the 40 that get’s me to my rifle’s. We can all agree taking a pistol to a rifle fight is close to taking a knife to a gun fight!
Stand-Up: each round you fire and the power is going to depend huge on the load and bullet. I can load a .40 round to more damage than most people’s 45 rounds!! Just food for thought!

It is time that the American people recognize unconstitutional laws and unconstitutional acts by public officials for what they are.
