Surveillance cameras on Toronto transit don’t violate privacy laws

The use of video surveillance cameras on Toronto’s transit system does not violate privacy laws, Ontario’s privacy commissioner said Monday as she recommended the TTC implement stricter measures to protect against abuse of captured images.

In releasing her report, Ann Cavoukian called on the TTC to reduce the amount of time video surveillance images are stored from a maximum of seven days to 72 hours.
