Police in California are trying a different tact in order to get public support behind their newly approved armored vehicle.

Instead of labeling their new Bearcat Medevac a “tank,” which it essentially is, the City of San Leandro is calling the $270,000 armored truck a “rescue vehicle.”

Police claim the DHS-funded “tankbulance,” which possesses 11 gun ports, a rotating gun turret and a battering ram, is needed to protect the public, but armored ambulances aren’t even used overseas to protect our troops.

Evidently, authorities are attempting to assuage concerns of a militarized police state by associating the vehicle with the familiar red cross.
