Motorists should pay higher taxes in the form of a national road-pricing system to cut carbon dioxide emissions, according to the Government’s climate change advisory body.

The speed limit on all motorways should be strictly enforced and may have to be reduced to 60mph to help to meet the Government’s legally binding carbon reduction targets.

The Committee on Climate Change, which devised the targets and advises the Government on how to meet them, says that a “step change” is needed in emissions reduction. In its first annual report to Parliament , the committee says that emissions cuts since 2003 have been “far slower than now required to meet (carbon) budget commitments”. Emissions fell by an average of 0.5 per cent in each of the five years to 2008. The committee says that emissions cuts of 2-3 per cent a year are needed every year from now until 2050 to meet the targets.

The technology to have cars run on water exists. In fact it has existed for several years. It’s unbelievable that the government suppresses this break-through so they can take more money from the people.

      CHardi Reply:

How does the government suppress technology? The Government shouldn’t even be taxing this stuff. It’s making the technology affordable and productive they have a problem with. Government has no control of this unless they are looking to profit. It is a little strange that someone would want to replace oil with water in the first place. They are both natural resources. It’s like vegans wanting everyone to stop eating meat to save the planet. It will replace one problem with another. I could just imagine a vegan food shortage now. Becoming mindless cattle grazing.
I am ok with people that want to eat vegetation, and run their cars off vegetable oil and water. Just do it without expecting the government to fork the cost, and the tax payers.

      Hydrogen Reply:

60 minutes ran a segment in the 70s about postal trucks that had been converted to
run on hydrogen. That was 35 years ago. The government is owned by Big Oil. No
doubt why we had 2 bush men as dictator in charge! They don’t want change, at least
not change thats a benefit to any of us.

We can use water because it re cycle itself when it’s released back into the atmosphere so water can be used over and over again.

      Orgizmo Reply:

Don’t forget about the corporate suppression of technological advancement through the buying and burying of patents. It’s essentially equate to a monopoly on ideas. One of the best things we could do to reduce waste is to defeat designed obsolescence and so long as only one person or company is allowed to control the ability to use a patent that will never happen. If we were to separate the design of products and the manufacture of products into distinct organizations the designers could be paid a license for use of a patent which any organization could pay for the right of use. When you do that it becomes very hard to produce a product designed to fail since some one else will produce a product with a longer life that is more easily upgraded and/or repaired. Market forces would show it to be more profitable to produce a product to last as long as possible and the amount of cr@p ending up in landfills would go down. Patent law reform needs to happen.

Let us see now, pay more but the pollution still keeps adding up. How does taxing people help the global pollution problem? haha

How about electric cars, HHO cars, and even increasing the millage of our vehicles with those vapor carburetors.

Not to mention all the Free Energy Devices out there to help companies cut down on pollution, even if 1 out of 10 homes had them it would make a huge difference.

So I will build my own friggin electric car if I have to instead of paying higher taxes at the pump and get the $4000 tax deductible the State is offering for owning and driving an electric car. They can take their tax and shove it.

How much of this control shit are we going to tolerate? There is NO global warming. These control government freaks need to be prosecuted for fraud.

      Your Soul Is MINE! Reply:

As we all know, CO2 barely contributes to warming in comparison to cloud / water vapor by a factor of 1000:1, and we’ve increased that CO2 by a fraction of a percent over the last few years.
And in any case, the ocean heat sink delays the impact by hundreds of years.

But overlooking those facts. Presuming human CO2 emission is that big a deal.

That would by why David Cameron has promised to do away with average speed checks. Because this will make it unneccessary. The Gov’t can track you, and automatically fine you.

I suppose this means they’ll cancel fuel duty then? And road tax?

      Of course not.

      Bye bye car industry.

    3. Gary Says:

The planet doesn’t need saving and there is nothing to save it from. “Global warming” is a hoax.

Barrack the fudgepacking talking monkey Reply:

I’d say global warming is a theory. because mars’s icecap is still melting. and previously others have argued that the sun was causing the interstellar warming. now we have conflicting data, the sunspot activity is low, yet some planetary bodies are still warming, while other’s are not. What we have in America is people afraid to not get a graduate thesis approved if they go against their professor. or report data that is not in line with the goals of the corporation. or trying to participate on peer review boards without being able to vociferously go against a theory. If I have to kiss ass, I can’t possibly be objective.

      Gary Reply:

Indeed, the sun was, “was” being the operative term. As for any “theory” of global warming, it’s absolute bullshit. Carbon dioxide does not cause warming. There is a build up of CO2 that follows AFTER a warming period, not before it. It is not a causal factor in atmospheric warming and the fact is the atmosphere contained more CO2 65 million years ago than it does today.

      Arnold Ziffel Reply:

Although you are correct, you’re missing the point.
There are taxes that need to be collected. Period! They won’t stop until the total tax rate is 90%.
They’re gong to come up with any hair-brained scheme to take more of your money. Right or wrong, lie or not. Most people will gripe and moan….but will eventually pay those new taxes. It has always worked that way.

      Gary Reply:

Nope didn’t miss that at all, Arnold. If the root cause for the taxes is supposedly global warming, then the basis for the taxes is a lie and, therefore, the taxes are completely unnecessary and unjust. In order to get rid of the tax, we need to expose the lie that supports the rationale for it.

You know what this is all about. They are building more trains and railroad tracks and it is to force us in to mass transportation, where you have to show your papers every time you go out of your area. Another way to trick people and haul them off by the car load to FEMA camps. The old cars are junked and the price of cars will rise…they just don’t want us to have cars eventually. Anyway that is the way it looks to me.

So, the government wants to tax my driving on a car that l have already paid for [plus interest to the greedy bank], pay government to title and register yearly, and pay a twenty two percent tax on the fuel i put in it?????? How’s about obama get rid of his fleet of cadillac s.u.v.’s?? How’s about congressman and senators drive hybrids instead of being driven around in limo’s with drivers???? How’s about obama not taking a fucking jet to other countries to get chicago’s name in the olympic hat????? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???? What’s going on here??? Half of the obama administration don’t even pay theire current required taxes. Why do we allow the government to break the law in plain view???? Why is theire not daily hangings in washington. Treason is still punishable by death. They better hope the remaining sheep never wake, or they’re in trouble.

    15. Truthpounder Says:

For anyone who is surprised that we are going have more taxes I tell you this, you shouldn’t be. We have had our taxes raised since our government has started. We are losing more and more of our possible income due to programs that aren’t needed, pet projects, or just damn out-right theft.

We are losing all of our programs now mainly cause the government can’t keep their hands out of the cookie jar. Now they are looking towards us to bail their asses out. You may not realize it, but if you are making around 60k a year or higher, you will pay nearly 25k in taxes. You have the federal taxes, state taxes, and of course the hidden taxes as well.

We should honestly have a flat rate tax, one for federal, and of course one for the state. Lets just say the federal government made a flat tax rate of 16% and your state will vary, most usually are close to 6-9%. With these standards everything you purchase will have that tax rate and illegal immigrants, the wealthy, and of course the poor will pay this tax. No one is exempt and we would actually acquire more wealth for the government. With this system, you can downsize the I.R.S tremendously, and all the hidden taxes can be removed. The wealthy who usually spend more will pay more, and of course the poor will pay less.

It’s a fair system, and unfortunately the government likes to play favorites, therefore some go under the radar. Too bad really.

It’s pretty easy to tell that jones is not giving the whole story in his films. I mean netflix has his films on their web site. Why? Because the powers don’t mind it. Why? because jones is a fraud who works for the nwo.

    20. Barrack the fudgepacking talking monkey Says:

Fraud alert,It’s alright to suspect that jones works for the nwo. it shows that you are not just accepting what you hear at face value. I am certain jones understands and respects such a contention. Afterall, we’ve all had careers at some point in our lives, so we know about kissing ass to not get fired, the wink wink with the coworkers in the know, and the eventual can’t standing the bullshit any longer and eventually getting canned for thinking outside of the box. I actually think that Jones is in a tight position, he can’t ever advocate violent action, not only because direct violent reaction would likely be futile, however indirect subterfuge and boobytrapping and baiting and ambushing the pigs might very well prove fruitfull , as tsun tsu might say, but also because he’s actually making a living off of the situation. most of us are not making a living off this situation, many have served time in prison because of the situation, some of us have virtually been banned for life from gainfull employment , and the type of resistance that we all know must take place is not going to be planned on these boards , that should also be obvious. So, what good would it do if Jones advocated a more aggressive stance?, none, because it could be read by the enemy. we don’t need Jones to hold our hands do we? Of course not, and that in itself is the best argument against your contention.

Fucking Govt. They push for more pollution control and more miles on new cars, then, when they don’t get the money from the taxes, they fuck the public in the ass with another tax. What is funny, is that these same assholes drive around in large gas eating vehicles. What ever happened to lead by example? I would like to see all Secret Service drive in back of Kia Vans, and hell, bring back the Yugo cars. Put the politicians in those vehicles. Or better yet, why not tell them to ride the public transit in D.C.

    22. uk expat Says:

Wow the UK already has the highest fuel tax in the World, now they want to charge us by the mile and limit the speed to 60! so with the price of a new car 20,000 plus average miles charge 13,000, plus fuel charge at 86% tax, not forgetting road tax and insurance/tax you will be paying closer to 40,000 (dollars euros pounds)for the car in its first year! oh and if you try to sell after 12 months it will only be worth 12,000 – where do I sign?

    27. Sees Things Says:

first the corporation owned government takes all the jobs and its related pollution overseas leaving US all unemployed in a “fair trade” agreement (yeah right). then they spend like mad to crush all the vehicles we might have been able to maintain ourselves because of the ratcheted down wages we cannot afford the auto repair shop rates, forcing us to buy new disposable cars that we cannot afford, to commute to the jobs that we dont have. I’m betting the average southern slave 200 years ago had a better life than this BS.

these nazi politicians planned for the production to leave the country, to leave US unemployed so the banksters could reposess our homes and vehicles, they are guilty of economic sabotage and treason, and should be hanging by their necks for it already.

    33. The Duck Says:

Now, I’m no expert, but I am a bit of a shade tree mechanic. Cars (internal combustion, gasoline powered, etc…) run more efficiently at higher speeds than they do at idle. Of course, there’s a threshold there with wind drag and all. The current speed limits are all well within these limitations especially for the newer more aerodynamic models. The biggest problem with cars being inefficient is that their owners refuse to do basic maintenance. Keep the tire pressure where it should be, regular oil changes and tune ups… It’s just amazing what that will do for your car.

Now, I own and drive a 1983 Datsun 280zx with some performance modifications… I still get 27 MPG, and that’s driving it like I stole it. I could probably push 30 MPG driving a bit more sane. It still passes emission testing (current standards) every single time… and it’s 26 years old.

I have seen some amazing things with electric cars (Tesla Motors for example). However, the batteries are still toxic. Have you ever seen who shows up to a car crash when a Prius is involved? You guessed it, the HAZMAT team. More of your tax dollars being used to “Save The Planet”.

And remember kids… CO2 (”carbon” dioxide) makes up 0.0383% of the WHOLE atmosphere. Seriously.

    34. jerseygirl Says:

Just think of all of the emission from the HUGE fleet of black SUV’S that the government uses and what must the emission be like from Obama’s pres. car, “The Beast” so appropriately named. By all means tax “the slaves” for the “emissions” they cause going to and from work, if they’re lucky enough to have a job, but emissions don’t count when you’re the President and you fly some pizza guy and his assisstant in (round trip of course, 860 miles each way) from St. Louis because you like the pizza he makes. He had it while on the campaign trail. I’m in the mood for something French, perhaps I’ll just fly to France. What am I thinking, I’ll just go to McDonald’s for some fries. Now where did I put that damned coupon???

As the time goes on , people of america have everyday less and less freedom due to politics conducted by federal power. Also , as a consequence of the economic crisis , more and more of them have lost their job and home. But the crisis is not finished , and in near future the consequences could be catastrophic. Keep in mind that any change can not come from the federal government , but only the people , the only source of any future chagement. If a majority of them think a change is possible , so it can be. A way to preserve freedom , ideals , welfare of people is federalism must come to an end. People will have to make a choise , federalism versus freedom , ideals , welfare… . The first could lead to the establishment of a martial law. A state as texas is ready to cross the line , it could be an example for the others. People could put under pressure every state government in the aim to declare secession , the american constitution allow such a decision. Such an aim can’t be aimed without any precaution , as it is evident the federal power is not ready to yield or abdicate. Probably , this one will use force to submit people , but constitution give garantees on firearms. people can put up a fight against the oppressive federal power if a political issue according to the will of people can not be lead. People have to make his will respect , otherwise it will be an opressed people. Saying that federalism must come to an end mean it must be break down , it appears to be the only way to preserve people. America can be easily imagined without federalism and preserved.
