Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered the replacement of the US dollar by the euro in calculating the value of the country’s Oil Stabilisation Fund (OSF).

The move was taken because the government wishes to protect itself from the fragility of the US economy and the weak dollar.
The OSF, which forms part of Iran’s foreign exchange reserves, is a contingency fund set aside to cushion the economy against fluctuating international oil prices.
It is also used to help both the public and private sectors with their hard currency needs by extending loans.
Press TV meanwhile reported that following the switch the interest rate for facilities provided from the foreign exchange reserves is to be cut to 5 percent from 12 percent.
Since its introduction in 1999 by the EU the euro has gained popularity internationally and there are now more euros in circulation than the dollar.

And Jesus didn’t correct them or say, “Don’t you realize that I’m just a mortal prophet? Stop worshiping me!” Rather, He accepted their worship, knowing He really was God in human flesh.
Jesus’ claim about Himself
John 8:58-59: “‘I tell you the truth,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’ At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.”
This is a powerful double claim from Jesus: first, that He pre-existed His human birth and was actually alive and present (as God) before Abraham; second, that His title was “I am” — which was the same title used for Jehovah God in Exodus 3:14. His listeners again got the point, and picked up stones to execute Him!
Another of Jesus’ claims of deity
John 10:30-33: “‘I and the Father are one.’ Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, ‘I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?’ ‘We are not stoning you for any of these,’ replied the Jews, ‘but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.’”
It couldn’t be clearer than it is here: Jesus’ highly educated listeners understood His claim of deity. They only had two possible responses: to humble themselves and bow before Him as the Magi and the disciples had done earlier, or reject His claim and judge Him as a blasphemer. Unfortunately they chose the latter option. But notice that Jesus doesn’t argue with their accusation, because it was accurate. He really was claiming to be God!
Thomas’ response to the resurrected Jesus

You bring up a good point, but trust me, I get the whole debt based currency thing. I was simply using the term “hard currency” for purposes of expediency. The point I was trying to make is that once the dollar has collapsed completely, the only standing currency of any significance will be the euro. It is rapidly becoming the new standard.

Officially the gold standard has been dropped but individual central banks hold gold reserves. It is EXTREMELY difficult finding out how much gold a central bank has in comparison to it’s cash holdings. Even rough figures.
Perhaps the (proposed) Islamic Gold-Dinar will now emerge as the main OIL TRADE CURRENCY!?
I’m not a fan of a gold backed currency but do believe currencies should be ‘harder’. I’d prefer a RANGE of precious metals & gems be used as ‘hard’ backing for paper money. This means:
a) price variatians are spread (but not based on stock-market gambling)
b) More of the individual precious commodoties to SELL
c) Gold price need not be ramped up to match current circulation (ie. gold@ $100,000/oz)
d) The gold buying frenzy as each currency tries to harden would CAUSE WARS!!

It’s still a brave move. Iran doesn’t have much (non-violent) leverage against the THREAT OF SANCTIONS so threatening to swap oil trades to the Euro is about all it can do. I’d say it’s about 40% bluff, 60% intention but WHO KNOWS, could be a COMPLETE BLUFF – US will be BANKRUPTED if it goes to war with Iran – as will Iran though!?

One: You might want to take your cash out of whatever “Big Nasty Bank” you may have it in (Bank of America, Citi, Wells Fargo, SunTrust).
Two: Find a small, local/community bank or credit union (check it out at http://www.bankrate.com) and put the money into it—whatever type of account you feel safe with.
Three: Buy silver and gold specie (coins) minted before 1900, just in case “Oboomba” decides to write an Executive Order to confiscate gold, as FDR did in 1933 (although the compliant Congress passed the requisite laws to “legitimize” the Order shortly after). Put it under lock and key in a secure place where YOU can get at it.
Four: Have enough cash/food/water/warm clothes/paper products, on hand for at least 2 months, in case Martial Law or some National Emergency is declared.
Five: Know where your children are at all times. Know who their friends are.
Six: Have a plan to get your family all in the same place if there is a real emergency.
Seven: Have a copy of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights ready at hand.
Eight: Know who your REAL friends are.
Nine: Know who YOU are and what you’ll stand up for when TSHTF.
These are common-sense things, nothing fancy from a paid “person” of the “financial complex”. Knowledge is power. Deciding and acting from knowledge is empowering.

I wrote an article after we attacked Iraq and gave the real reason why we went after Saddam. Saddam exchange all of his US currenct into Euros and stopped accepting dollars for his oil. We attacked the same month. First thing we did was loot their treasury and exchange the euros back to dollars. I also wrote about the Iranian Oil Bourse around that same time. This attack has been in the works since 2006 when they first announced it. Doesn’t surprise me not one bit.
