When Sergio Torres bought a £2,500 ($3878.25 US) van from a US Customs and Border Protection auction he had no idea it had a hidden extra.
Unfortunately for his son Sergio Torres Duarte, 18, and his 19-year-old friend Julio Cesar Moreno, it was the Mexican police who brought it to his attention when they found a 1kg stash of cocaine hidden beneath the dashboard.
The drugs were found when the teenagers were stopped at a routine police highway checkpoint near the Pacific Coast resort city of Mazatlan as they drove to a football match in November.
