The Bigger Story Behind Michael Scheuer’s Wish for an Attack on America

Everyone is appropriately outraged that the former head of the CIA unit which hunted Bin Laden for almost a decade — Michael Scheuer — told Glenn Beck:
The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States
But people aren’t putting this in context. In fact, many Neocons have also stated a desperate yearning for another attack on America (and see this).
But there is another story here as well.
Remember:
• The CIA commander in charge of the capture of Bin Laden during the invasion of Afghanistan said that the U.S. let Bin Laden escape from Afghanistan
• A retired Colonel and Fox News military analyst said:
“We know, with a 70 percent level of certainty — which is huge in the world of intelligence — that in August of 2007, bin Laden was in a convoy headed south from Tora Bora. We had his butt, on camera, on satellite. We were listening to his conversations. We had the world’s best hunters/killers — Seal Team 6 — nearby. We had the world class Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) coordinating with the CIA and other agencies. We had unmanned drones overhead with missiles on their wings; we had the best Air Force on the planet, begging to drop one on the terrorist. We had him in our sights; we had done it ….Unbelievably, and in my opinion, criminally, we did not kill Usama bin Laden.”
• French soldiers insist that they easily could have captured or killed Bin Laden, but that the American commanders stopped them
In other words – as demonstrated above – the U.S. did not really try to capture Bin Laden.
And remember that the Congressional Joint Inquiry into 9/11 discovered that an FBI informant had hosted and rented a room to two hijackers in 2000 and that, when the Inquiry sought to interview the informant, the FBI refused outright, and then hid him in an unknown location, and that a high-level FBI official stated these blocking maneuvers were undertaken under orders from the White House (confirmed here by the Co-Chair of the Joint Inquiry and former Head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Bob Graham; and see this Newsweek article).
And that a key Al Qaeda trainer actually worked with the Green Berets and the CIA and was an FBI informant.
And that the CIA may have helped most of the 9/11 hijackers get their visas to the U.S.
And that CIA agents allegedly met with Bin Laden two months before 9/11, when he was already supposedly wanted for the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, and when it was obvious to the intelligence services that he was supposedly planning 9/11.
Given that the government shielded top Al Qaeda members, and give that one of the top guys responsible for capturing Bin Laden now wishes OBL would attack America using weapons of mass destruction, the question must be asked whether people within the U.S. government wanted Bin Laden to attack the U.S. prior to 9/11.
This is an especially interesting question since a delay of a couple of minutes would have allowed the 9/11 attacks to succeed.

That doesn’t seem to be a problem for them at all. An imaginary bogey man seems as good as an authentic one right now. Politics is a stage show anyway. Why not use fictional characters in their fictional stories.
They tell us planes brought down the twin towers. They tell us they’re hunting Bin Laden. They tell us they’re “bailing out” the economy.
Planes didn’t bring down the towers. They hired Bin Laden. And they’re looting the economy, not bailing it out.
Anyone who views the world through the TV news media has a mostly fictional view of what happens in the world around them. One more fictional bogey man seems to be working just fine.

But in order to have war, you need an opposition. I love how they blamed bin laden then turned on saddam – now we’re back to bin laden.
War generates money, it’s a vicious cycle.

The only thing I would add to the article above is the strange story of the Green Berets tracking Bin Laden. Do you recall the story about the Green Berets who returned from Afghanistan that supposedly killed their wives and then themselves? If I’m not mistaken, these were the same Green Berets who tracked Bin Laden to the Pakistan border and were ordered to stand down as choppers were called in to ferry Bin Laden and his crew out. I never believed the story that these soldiers killed their wives and committed suicide.

I don’t think they hired Bin Laden to get involved with the actual destruction or those that brought down the Towers. IMHO, he was hired as a red herring. Go out here, get photographed doing this, videoed doing that, we’ll hide you here, sorry, gotta’ move you! He’s been a stooge since they trained him and others to resist the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, so why not continue the asset’s useful employment? He probably died of either natural causes or was overtaken by Islamic factions not his own. Once dead, he’s still a useful bogey. Most of the people don’t have the brainpower and memory to associate George Washington as the first president of the U.S., let alone that this same guy is said to be deceased by a Pakistani political candidate. Have any of you read Imperial Hubris, by Scheurer? Or Through Our Enemies eyes? He is not a neo-con. He is a paleo-con. He was AGAINST the Iraq war and has written two books on our mis-guided, pro-Israeli foreign policy. He was highly critical of Bush, and is a Ron Paul supporter. Kurt Nimo needs to do some better research and understand the hyperbole Scheurer is using in his comments.

Schuerer didn’t “yearn for” or “call for” or “wish for” a attack, he said that it’s absurd that the only hope Americans have for the government to act seriously about security is for bin laden to set off a nuke, because only then will they wake up to the lax boarder security and the threat from al qeada, he’s been taken way out of context by the usual suspects, namely media matter and some of the other left wing sites.

that’s an exaggerated comparison. Qaeda (قاعدة)means base, anything upon which something sits. It could be the base of a pedestal, or an air base. Air base in Arabic is qaeda jawiyyah, (قاعدة جوية), jawiyyah meaning “air”, which also means “weather”.
So, yeah, it’s used as a seat of various kinds, including a toilet, but to make too much of it is unscholarly.

I saw that interview with the retired Colonel when he mentioned about having “Osama in sight” in 2007 and I had to wonder WHY in the hell good people like that guy are kept in the dark about the boogeyman being actually DEAD? Is this poor guy just another clown in their circus? I mean, I’m a nobody but even I KNOW that Osama is dead!! As for an “event,” hell, we’re all waiting for the next “event.” July 4th Nuke attack from North Korea? August bank “holiday?” September flu vaccine? October quarantine? November financial shut down? I don’t get the whole thing. Osama, Usama bin bullshit was our inside man for years to create wars of chaos. We used him to deplete our society as the “Man that is 9/11″. Yet, he’s been dead now for so long that he makes no difference, and we continue to see the lies perpetrated against our people by our own government. Why is it that the last people to know that the “jig is up” is our own government?
Why is it that the people are informed and quite the opposite of what the government believes we are, yet they continue with the false accusing profiling? Why do they not understand that the American people know more truth than they can imagine? And that in the day of reckoning they will be known for whom they are and the deeds they brought to their own people?
The government of the United States seems to always be the last to have any real “intelligence”.
The people in our country are far more committed to truth and our law(s). We may just well have our day in court over the matters, but do not be dismayed when the court of law touches every street in the nation, and every aspect of the community you live in.

I guess the question is if we have to choose “again” can it be with less fallout? And who is willing to be the offering? How can America be saved ‘on the whole’ this time round? Is funny how most do not know the reality of living in a high tech world and how it is we no longer are isolated from the big picture.

I’m glad to see a voice like Sheuer stick up for the abused people of the middle east. But wondered why he does not think Bin Laden was killed at Tora Bora? Was he allowed to escape to churchills castle? Musharaff and Bush are not talking.
