The Green Nazis: Environmentalism in the Third Reich

It has been elaborately pointed out how the device of environmentalism is especially favoured by tyrants as a means of controlling their subjects. The current ‘green’ movement, as we know, is no exception. It has been nurtured from its very conception as a systematic eugenics operation by the deep pockets of the Rockefeller- and Ford Foundations. Throughout the 20th century there have been multiple examples of tyrants implementing a very strict environmental policy to which their subjects had to conform, sometimes through the collection of taxes, sometimes at the barrel of a gun; usually a subtle mixture of the two. It is a well documented though seldom highlighted fact that the Nazis were very much into environmentalism- not for environmentalism’s sake of course, but rather as a means of oppression and control. As it turns out, environmentalism fits the form of tyranny like a well tailored suit.

Before Hitler became Reich Chancellor of Germany, the SA brown shirts had taken to the streets with torches and knuckle-dusters, beating National Socialism into the German system lest the people forget who would be running the show soon. But after his political ascension, Hitler had a once useful instrument on his hands which was no longer necessary and he now needed to discard. It soon became apparent that the methods of the SA were appalling to the average German citizen, even those who supported their Fuhrer and his continuing message of unity under a waving swastika. Romantic dwellers and the otherwise disillusioned were especially attracted to the Nazis, mistaking the Nazi ideology for patriotism, but the ongoing brutality of the brown shirts caused even the most blinded of adepts to raise their arm in protest (while exclaiming the Nazi greeting at the same time). Although the prevailing sentiment could be summed up by the naïve phrase ‘The Fuhrer would not approve of this’, in reality he had initially used the SA precisely for the thing they were best at: terror. Now reports reached his desk illustrating the discontent of the Germans in regards to these power tripping psychopaths roaming the streets with bulging fisheyes. On June 30th 1934, Hitler eliminated the top of the SA in the infamous night of the long knives. All the SA underlings were now brought under the control of the SS and Wehrmacht, to be added to the military for the upcoming war. Once Hitler consolidated his position and that of his party, the true face of Nazism had to be masked somewhat to appease the people who generally desired an age of peace instead of another disastrous World War. In the course of the 1930s Hitler chose to appear in costume rather than his favoured paramilitary outfit- which he had worn consistently throughout the previous decade.
In the spring of 1933, the existing trade unions (although no significant threat to the regime) were replaced by the so-called Deutsche Arbeitsfront, or German labour Front. From that moment on strikes of whatever kind were strictly forbidden and would be met with harsh repercussions wherever they sprung up. The workers had a new employer now, one that had set his sights on world domination. But in order to realise his grand scheme, it can be credited to the cunning of the dictator that he realised he could not submit the German people by terror alone. It was vital that they would learn to love their own enslavement. Hitler realised he would have to provide some compensation for the complete loss of personal freedom lest even the SS-terror should prove inadequate to repel some national uprising in defiance of the regime. Besides, he needed the Germans, fit and content, for the grand military expeditions he had planned for the very near future. How best to keep his subjects happy and energetic? First the massive unemployment suffered by Germany in the previous decade had to be eliminated. Building a massive nationwide network of roads were the answer, as well as the construction of an arms industry without precedent. A few years into Nazi Germany there indeed was enough work to go around- never mind the emergence of the many concentration camps around the country in which dissidents vanished never to return. The second way to ensure the compliance of the German people was the creation of a nice and relaxing environment for both work and leisure. As Hitler reasoned, lots of trees and wide-open spaces would take the minds of his subjects off the war he was preparing and the liberties they had lost along the way.

But the hardcore environmentalists who had found their champion in the person of Adolf Hitler were soon to be disappointed. By the end of the 1930s, with a World War imminent, Hitler abandoned most of the environmental pretexts he had used to trick the masses, hook, line and sinker, replacing it with a war-ethos of sacrifice for the greater good and ‘lebensraum’. If only a pretext, the entire environmental thing was an excellent beta test for measuring the tolerance of the Germans in regards to the propaganda efforts of Goebbels which had indeed proven to be extremely effective. Not long after, Germany was plunged into a war that finally led to her complete dismemberment.
It will not be necessary to further point out the many similarities to our own time, where any and every environmental ‘good intention’ is hijacked by the elite for the advancement of its own objectives. It is true; most environmentalists love collectivism and are prepared to marry almost every regime that claims to work for a clean and green environment. That makes this group extremely susceptible to the arguments of tyrants.

Well, the IT guy at my job explained the new security system that first involved an RFID security card that is scaned upon entering the building. The information is sent to a database that then activated the facial recognition scan. If the two do not match up (RFID card and facial scan) then i will not be authorized to enter the building. After entering the building multiple face scanners take hourly scans, and the RFID keeps track of where everyone is located within the building in real time. I work at a sprint call center.

Monsanto armed Private investigators showed up at my Family farm after a neighbor falsely accussed my father of saving gmo seed….After the being threatened..my father signed papers too let Monsanto INvestigate..search our farm….get all our records..from seed companies…spray…and AG offices….My father was never sued…but monsato never apoligized either….Monsanto would also not give us the Name of the Person who falsely eccused him so that we could sue them for Defamation of character…..Since then we have lost 1500acres of rented land…..due to our good name being ruined in the neighborhood…..I thought i lived in a good country until this happened…….The person who falsly accused my father of saving gmo seed had better hope that we never find out……..cause well u get the picture…..

Population reduction is a revolting idea, indeed, but to be logic, and pretend that we can all survive on this planet, we have to be ready to abandon the American way of life. If you think we can all have a tv, drink from plastic bottles, have 1 car per family, then there is no point arguing against population decrease, because there is no other way, and we, people from middle class are the target for the mass reduction.

Perhaps Jurriaan means as a Party and not so much as individual members of the Party. I suspect it. The article’s context suggests it. In addition, the notion of a genuine Party-concern for environmentalism is inconsistent with Germany’s military industrialization and warfare, which contributed to great quantities of environmental pollution.
The quote also strongly suggests that the author views environmentalism for environmentalism’s sake as at least not unworthy. The complaint concerns governmental coercion, especially when the motives are ulterior, and not environmentalism, per se. Therefore, within this comment thread, there are many libertarians who may disagree with Jurriaan.
I do not hold with coercing while I also do not hold with polluting.
Mercury in vaccinations has been roundly criticized on this site. There is mercury pollution largely from coal burning that has contaminated great quantities of the freshwater fish population in the U.S.
One is unreasonably selective to hate the mercury in vaccines while having no issue with unbridled coal burning that as resulted in mercury poisoning of unsuspecting eaters of polluted fish.
Is the prevailing consensus on this site that no one should tell anyone else that burning coal presents health issues but everyone should speak out against the same toxicant in vaccines? That would be hypocritical on its face.
To avoid leaving the question of hypocrisy dangling, it would be an improvement were the clear distinction between environmentalism, per se, on one hand and using it as a pretext for evil ends on the other hand to be featured more prominently and with greater clarity.
There is nothing wrong with the right kind of environmentalism. The right kind of environmentalism is beautiful. It’s consistent with the Golden Rule.

I spent about half a year paying attention to Alex Jones and InfoWars, With time it became very clear the racism and propaganda they put out. What Alex Jones inspires in people — which I felt myself falling for — is that Alex has the inside info, and if you are listening to him then you do, too, and soon it’s easy to adopt the attitude that only you know the truth and everyone else is deceived. If anyone reading this has an immediate reaction that what I’m saying here is bunk, that’s what I’m talking about. How many people actually DO look into what Alex says in great detail, truly considering all viewpoints? Check out “Extremism, Conspiracy Theory & Murder” on NPR’s “Fresh Air.” This doesn’t mean the current administration is free from corporate/banking control. It just means Alex, if you really look closely, is not worth paying much, if any, attention to; he does the same kind of scapegoating and demonizing that too many people, on the Left and the Right, carry out to very negative effects. Awareness, informed rational thought, positive energy that brings people together by respecting differences… that’s the way to go.

A CO2 tax is a funny animal. The amount of oxygen is important for life. Much Oxygen is locked up in the form of carbonates. In lakes and rivers carbonates acts as a buffer to protect the waters from excess acidification. Some oxygen is releasted (as CO2) if acid rain falls on the waters. But if the water become to acidic the water will no longer be able to support fish. Trees can turn this CO2 into O2 and hydocarbons (as wood). If we burn the hydrocarbons cleanly the eviroment is self–correcting. But if we burn sulfer this will make for acid rain.
When we burn hydrogen, no CO2 is generated but H20 is created as the combustion by-product.
So we suck some 02 out of the air.
If we generated the Hydrogen by electrolysis run with electricity from a nucular power plant then oxygen is releast as a by-product into the air and the balance is maintained. If we generate hydrogen through conventional process then we are no further ahead. If we general the hydrogen through direct biologic process we do beter cause both wasted heat and CO2 can be avoided.
But the same is true for electric cars. If the electricity is generated by ’solar power’ or windpower things are much better than if that power was generate by burning low quality sulfer ladden cool.

Radical environmentalist do tend to be collectivist. Many of the present day enviromentalist come from the flower-child movement of the 1960’s. But the movement of those days has been co-opted by many of todays elitist groups, who have very little knowledge of the great outdoors, but rather a special agenda. An agenda that’s motivated by a hunger for power and control of others. This was probably the case in Nazi Germany. The early global warming theories were seen as a great vechicle for the elite environmentalist to hitch their wagon too. So they will continue to use it to advance their cause despite mounting evidence that global warming probably doesn’t exist.

It should be said that Hitler established his personal Youth Brigades as soon as he got elected, called: Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth). All children from the age of 10 were forced to join the Hitlerjugend.
Little children were then indoctrinated by the means of survival and camping trips, mass youth rallies, marches, army training and other things. Hitler knew that if he could get the youth behind him (from 1926 onwards), indoctrinate them properly, they would easilly be willing to give their life and commitment to the Fuhrer, join the army, go to war, and fight for the Third Reich.
