While the liberal intelligentsia was swooning over Barack Obama during his presidential campaign, I counseled “prepare to be disappointed.” His record as a Illinois state and U.S. Senator, together with the many progressive and long overdue courses of action he opposed during his campaign, rendered such a prediction unfortunate but obvious.

Now this same intelligentsia is beginning to howl over Obama’s transition team and early choices to run his Administration. Having defeated Senator Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primaries, he now is busily installing Bill Clinton’s old guard. Thirty one out of forty seven people that he has named so far for transition or appointments have ties to the Clinton Administration, according to Politico. One Clintonite is quoted in the Washington Post as saying – “This isn’t lightly flavored with Clintons. This is all Clintons, all the time.”
Obama’s “foreign policy team is now dominated by the Hawkish, old-guard Democrats of the 1990,” writes Jeremy Scahill. Obama’s transition team reviewing intelligence agencies and recommending appointments is headed by John Brennan and Jami Miscik, who worked under George Tenet when the CIA was involved in politicizing intelligence for, among other officials, Secretary of State Colin Powell’s erroneous address before the United Nations calling for war against Iraq.
Mr. Brennan, as a government official, supported warrantless wiretapping and extraordinary rendition to torturing countries. National Public Radio reported that Obama’s reversal when he voted for the revised FISA this year relied on John Brennan’s advise.

Obama’s apologists say that his picks show he wants to get things done, so he wants people who know their way around Washington. Moreover, they say, the change comes only from the president who sets the priorities and the courses of action, not from his subordinates. This explanation assumes that a president’s appointments are not mirror images of the boss’s expected directions but only functionaries to carry out the Obama changes.

OFF TOPIC: For those following—Earthquake today. I’m 3 for 3 now. If there ain’t another one today, it’ll be one the 25th. Just watch. I’ve told you all ( the ones following) in advance when they will happen, you all know. I’m saying that there will be apx. 7 total by the time they land on the 28th, then they’ll stop. I voted for Ralph Nader in this past election. I wish it was either him or someone like Ron Paul who had won. But, as Mr. Nader states in his article, the Military-Industral-Complex does have a
great influence in our society. This is because today everything from the corporate mass-media (Defense Contractor General Electric owning NBC/MSNBC), to Halliburton (both a defense contractor and an oil services company), to Congressmen protecting military bases and weapons plants for their electoral districts, to the E-Voting machine companies and political think-tanks also having links to weapons makers and big oil. Not to mention, there are many pro-war churches in the “evangelical” camp (such as Pat Robertson and John Hagee) while churches who preach an anti-war message are investigated by the I.R.S. (who threaten to take away their 501c tax-free status). I hope more people wake up in this country before it becomes a total police state.

What I cannot understand is why this 9/11 debate is still occuring, yes it was a horrific historical event that brought chaos to the masses and confusion to the individual. But when is enough enough? If I have to hear about one more so called “quote” that is so out of context it might as well have been placed in their mouths I might as well give up on humanity in general. Is there anybody out there that is fed up with this so called “TRUTH.” Yes we have to learn from history so our same mistakes do not occur, but what have we learned from this? Well please somebody tell me, because there is more confusion today then there was on 9/11. Really? I guess that you don’t read enough of this sight to have noticed the pages of independently covered facts about corporate news using corporate produced advertising as news. There’s a great one of a news team pretensing to be in Saudi Arabia. What do we “learn” from history, or more aptly phrased, how can we learn anything when school (kindergarten through university) teaches nothing. In fact, I can see that the same historical “mistakes” are being made now. I guess you’ll find out about past mistakes and “history” when you are sharing stories in your FEMA camp. I would advise that you take your own advice and do research; checking references and information on the stories adn people who wrote them, and you will find that most of what is here in this website and almost all of what Alex says is true.
I don’t think there is more confusion today. On the contrary, I believe there is more understanding and consensus on the main issues.
i am curious as to what you believe the “truth” to be? I hope that it is not corporate sponsored souless media.

I am very pissed that the so called Mr. Truth has implied that the people commenting here or the people who will not accept the 9/11 report as truth. This was more than just a horrible event that we need to sweep under the rug it is the very basis of why we are at war and millions of lives are being destroyed! Maybe you can move on without a real investigation but there are many, many people who can not just let all those peoples lives be swept away because others are to happy living in denia and are to weak to handle the TRUTH! Most of us are here because we do use our own ability to critically think about these things and we refuse to sit idly by while other people control our lives.

Truth, are you serious? Are you really asking why it matters? Hmmmm, well, 3000 people were murdered on that day, many people profited greatly in terms of the financial impact while others were taken advantage of (insurance companies, WTC owners, the put option folks, etc), and it was the catalyst for the war in Iraq/Afganistan/Pakistan/Etc.
If you don’t know for sure who’s responsible for the attacks, and find out how they were allowed to happen then how on earth can you possibly prevent another one.
Personally, if you murder 3,000 people which creates a war where you kill another million people, spend almost a trillion dollars of America’s money to keep what seems like a never ending war going then i think we should make sure we’re holding the right people accountable. Come on, you’re better than that.

I personally do not care if Mr. Jones makes some money, because he puts almost all of himself into this, but some nuts would sit and say well he should do it for free. Well i ask you will you go to work and tell your boss, well I do not need my paycheck? I do not think so.
Mr. Jones does a great job of finding news, it is not always the best, but he does all of this to help our nation, what are you doing, how are you getting truthh out?
