Third of post-9/11 U.S. vets think wars not ‘worth it’: Poll

A third of Americans who served in the military following the September 11 attacks do not believe the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were worth fighting, a poll found Wednesday.

The Pew Research Poll found that 33 per cent of post-9/11 U.S. veterans said the two wars were not “worth it,” given the costs and benefits to the United States, with a slightly larger percentage of 34 per cent saying they were.

When the wars were taken individually, 50 per cent said the Afghanistan war was worth fighting and 44 per cent said the Iraq war was worth it.
