Marco Rubio lost his voice while attempting to gain ground on GOP frontrunner Donald Trump ahead of Super Tuesday.
Rubio spoke with a hoarse whisper during a campaign event in S.C. on Monday.
“…I don’t have a voice and [if] I have to whisper how strongly I feel about the future of this country, then I’m willing to do it,” he said softly.
The Florida senator has been desperately trying to shore up support after polls revealed he was actually losing ground to Trump.
Rubio dropped five points over the weekend to third place, one point behind Ted Cruz, and both are distantly behind Trump.
“If Rubio hoped that going negative on Trump in the most recent GOP debate and on the campaign stump would reap benefits with voters, it hasn’t resonated with our national respondents,” the Morning Consult revealed.
Even CNN is now admitting that Trump is poised to win the Republican nomination.
“Trump’s supporters are incredibly enthusiastic about the coming election, and largely committed in their support for him,” CNN reported. “Nearly 8 in 10 say that they are more enthusiastic about voting this year than in previous elections, among Republicans who are not supporting Trump, just 39% say they are more enthusiastic than in years past.”
“Likewise, 78% of Trump’s backers say they will definitely support him vs. 22% who say they could still change their minds. Among those backing other candidates, 57% say they are committed to their chosen candidate.”
Trump’s dominance is scaring the establishment, with the Koch Bros. in particular doing everything they can to stop the GOP frontrunner, including a desperate plan to have Mitt Romney enter the race.
A Koch-funded senator, Ben Sasse (R-NE), is now trying to condition GOP voters to accept this plan calling for a “third option” candidate to enter the race against Trump if Rubio fails.
