In a span of 24 hours from 3 p.m. July 8 to 3 p.m. July 9, CNN pundits and guests said “Donald Trump” 239 times.

Constant reporting on his phone conversation with Republican chairman Reince Priebus, his interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, and his controversial statements on illegal immigrantsdominated the coverage of the cable channel. At one point, Democratic strategist and CNN analyst Paul Begala referred to the media’s obsession with the blustering pseudo-Republican candidate as a “Trumpgasm.”

For whatever reason, CNN folks’ need to say the candidate’s full name when just “Trump” would suffice happened with alarming frequency.

According to an iQ media search, CNN mentioned “ISIS” 61 times, Iran 35 times, “John Kerry” 18 times, and “nuclear deal” six times during that same time span.

Deciphering every utterance of a deeply unserious person who will never be president was higher on the agenda.
