TSA Brags About Creating “Imperious” Security Team

Craigslist ad deleted after federal agency caught describing their role as dictatorial

A Craigslist ad apparently posted by the Transportation Security Administration in search of employees for Ann Arbor airport brags about the federal agency’s mission to create an “imperious” security team. The word “imperious” means “domineering in a haughty manner; dictatorial; overbearing.”

You’d think the posting was a joke if not for the fact that this perfectly describes the TSA’s role and how its employees behave on a routine basis.

As the Jalopnik blog points out, the ad was only posted in the Ann Arbor section, suggesting it is not a prank. The posting is poorly written, but that’s to be expected from a federal employee.

Imperious, domineering, dictatorial and overbearing are all very apt terms to describe the TSA, as is Google’s definition of the word ‘imperious’ – “assuming authority without justification.” Synonyms for ‘imperious’ include “tyrannical, despotic, arrogant,” – which are also perfectly illustrative of the federal agency.

Recent behavior on behalf of TSA agents has also been very “imperious” in nature. From prostitution rings, to drunkenly firing guns, to trashing hotel rooms, these are just examples from the past week.

As we have previously highlighted, TSA agents think their blue uniform and rent-a-cop badge bestows on them some kind of imperious, deity-like authority.

Back in November, 52-year-old TSA worker Harold Glen Rodman allegedly approached a woman in full uniform before flashing his badge and proceeding to brutally rape and sodomize her.

Last July, a TSA agent in Connecticut was charged with harassment after he posed as a cop by flashing his badge at a woman in an attempt to intimidate her into driving faster.

In January 2010, a TSA agent at LAX went nuts and started screaming, “I am god, I’m in charge.”

After blogs started noticing the “imperious” gaffe, the ad was hastily removed from Craigslist, but the full text can be read below.
