Couples who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment, the government’s green adviser has warned.

Jonathon Porritt, who chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission, says curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population.
A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better family planning.
“I am unapologetic about asking people to connect up their own responsibility for their total environmental footprint and how they decide to procreate and how many children they think are appropriate,” Porritt said.
“I think we will work our way towards a position that says that having more than two children is irresponsible. It is the ghost at the table. We have all these big issues that everybody is looking at and then you don’t really hear anyone say the “p” word.”
The Optimum Population Trust, a campaign group of which Porritt is a patron, says each baby born in Britain will, during his or her lifetime, burn carbon roughly equivalent to 2½ acres of old-growth oak woodland – an area the size of Trafalgar Square.

It’s nice to see someone else on here that sees abortion for what it is: 1st degree murder. Any attempt at population control is a direct attack against everything that is good in this world. People who advocate abortion and family planning don’t seem to understand reality at all. They have no faith in God whatsoever. “And God blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and all living creatures that move upon the earth.” Gen 1:28. If you think that there is a problem with the world overcrowding, you must not have any trust in God’s Divine Providence. Even from a non-religious point of view, family planning will just cause our economy to get worse. The baby-boomers are retiring now, and there’s no one to pick up the bill. Who’s gonna pay for the retirement homes, the hospital visits, and funerals? There are not enough young people in the world. People need to have more children these days, not fewer.
The two scientific arguments for population control are global warming and food shortages. Neither of these hold any ground. We all know (at least most people on infowars) that global warming is a complete hoax. The food shortages, however, are not caused by actual food shortages, but the inability to distribute it to all parts of the world. Since I’ve been working in the restaurant business, it became pretty clear to me how much food we have (and waste) in this country. There’s plenty of food for everyone. So, there are absolutely no grounds for anyone to advocate population control in anyway.

If it is legal, then what are you gonna do? I really hate to bring this up, but with an abortion something is getting killed or someone…I am not saying that I disagree with a person making a LEGAL decision to have one, but might as well be real and realize that a person is not getting a chance at any life, good or bad. I also agree with you that “PRO-LIFE” people yelling and screaming at you does not make matters any better whatsoever. I prefer to let people exercise their LEGAL rights regardless of my opinion, because I know that I want the same right to exercise my legal rights. It’s not big families that pollute more, infact, people with 2 kids have a larger carbon footprint b/c they seem to have more disposable income and hence consume more. Larger families learn how to live with less and share with their family members.
It’s truly a hideous society we live in where big beautiful families are attacked by people under the assumption that THEY are paying for them. @obelisk….Maybe it’s the members of large families paying for YOUR welfare!! I’m pro choice on abortion. It’s not evil if it’s a genuine choice IMO. I’m an atheist so some Cs may think I’m souless and ‘evil’. In the past before medicine ‘your god’ killed many more BORN babies through disease and malnutrition (I accept food is worse today but there is more of it in the west). Still, Earth could sustain around 10 bil. easily if we had better infrastructure and stopped destroying stuff which is then rebuilt adding more environmental cost. A 1 or 2 child family is not such a bas idea in wealthy nations with low child mortality rates. However this issue & the draft are about the only 2 reasons I would resort to violence to prevent them becoming law. I’m pro choice.

Pro-Choice actually means pro-choice…I cannot stand that argument. What is wrong with having a choice? You can choose to give birth or you can choose abortion, Pro-Life means no choice…it means you must have the baby…We are not talking about what happens after the birth, that choice can even be made by the state. If an unfit mother gives birth, she has no choice if the state decides she is unfit they will take her child away from her, so where is the choice then? Pro Life means Birth Only, Pro Choice means a choice between giving birth or destroying the child/fetus/baby/whatever.

Ok, I myself want a limit on the number of children one should have but for diferent reasons. You have to be totally brain dead, to believe the CO2 horse s--- that’s everywhre around us and it makes my blood boil to see such loads of horse s--- everywhere. Really, whoever buys all this crap: you are not worth a penny, that’s right, if I were to have the opportunity to save a penny or someone who believes in this mounds of s---, I’d, without a second thought, reach for the penny.
As for my wish for child limit, it is because I can see there are too many people on this planet, thanks to the three Abrahamic religions who say “be fruitful and multiply” and the sheep multiplied, had 13 children per couple. We are begnining to overstress our food, some of it is running out and companies propose genetic engineering as a solution. Shrimp are being overconsumed, so is tuna, beef, chicken, vegies and fruits and look at the effects it has, demand is so great that the food industry, in order to meet the demand yet at the same time increase profits, resorts to abominable, cruel treatment for livestock and these poor things suffer so much and so horribly. I’m not a vegetarian but I may become one in protest and in the name of those poor souls. The demand is so fantastic and unstoppable and the treatment so horrendous, we have developed and are continuously feeding a torture machine. We eat tortured and traumatized animals, some gone insane.

I actually agree with this guy. Right now the population is far too high just in general, we are reaching or is already past 7 billion people. A good portion of those 7 billion are starving because of a lack of food because there simply isn’t enough usable land for crops unless we start even more deforestation and use of dangerous hybrid plants to survive a multitude of climates. Yes smaller populations are easier to control but on the flip side we are breeding ourselves out of house and home so to speak. Iv met almost no one who has taken into thought about how many kids they are having and how that will effect the future.
Its annoying how people get the opinion that its wrong to waste any possible opportunity to have kids and lots of them. People complain about gay couples because they won’t be able to have a kid and it seems that kids of all ages are trained by the people around them that they HAVE TO HAVE KIDS!!!
I’ll tell you something people, there are 7 Billion of us on this planet and basically none of our lives have any value anymore. We are all easily replaceable, even the so called elite of the world.

Wow, for people who are supposedly awake we have a shockingly high proportion of us who have bought into all this “People Bomb” BS. Although I’ve admittedly been a “lukewarm” Catholic for much of my life, I consider abortion wrong from a secular perspective (although I don’t have any problem with aborting embryos before they develop into a form that can feel pain and not just a bunch of cells…I’m talking a few days after conception when I say I support certain forms of abortion).

Additionally, all of America’s energy needs could be solved if we cover all of Arizona’s useless desert land with solar farms. Plus NASA is currently working on orbiting solar power stations that would power everything through space-to-Earth microwave transmission. For Christians – Abortion has no mention in the bible. It’s OK to be against abortion, without bringing your faith into the argument. I will listen to all your arguments, but as soon as you bring up Jesus or God (a concept which has different meaning for every single person, including spiritual, energy, whatever…) I lose interest. Be against it because the powers that be and eugenicists have swindled the average sheep into believing it is good. Thus the same type of ignorant faith that it is good has blinded them into using it as birth control.
For Atheists – Abortion is bad. Whatever your sense of good and evil is, surely this must fall into the latter category. Don’t support it because you can, or because it pisses off the religious right. Choice is good, but not uneducated, unemotional sheep-choice. Not believing in a God or some version of it makes you no less noble, in fact you are probably more so if you know it’s bad without the fear of God forcing your thoughts.
Basically, both parties need to meet in the middle and realize it is a horrible practice perpetrated on them by a psychotic bunch of eugenicists, and teach the reality of this to others, without religious or vengeful slurs.

Thousands of children starve daily in Africa and around the world while America criminally destroys good food everyday in means of profit. America consumes 50% of the world resources with 4% of the population. All these resources are running out. ie. food, gas, oils, wood, fresh water, etc.
Ya, we can all have five kids, that just means that we will be at a population of 50 billion by the end of our lives, can you imagine how much disease would rip us apart? We would make animals extinct because of it, which would eliminate cures to new diseases. This planet wasn’t made for 50 billion people.

The reason why people are starving in Africa is because of a combination of deliberate eugenics on the part of the NWO and the continent’s governments purposefully withholding food shipments from enemy factions/clans/tribes/religious groups.

At the moment given the infrastructure, and the fact many agricultural areas are war-torn sustaining 5..6 billion ppl is stretching it. However, if we had world peace (yeah, right!) and a ‘rationed’ diet the earth could easily support 10 billion (healthier) ppl. Plenty of room to house them, space wise with high-rise’s we could house 100 billion, no probs! Take a look at Spain’s mega-greenhouses as a way to grow more on unproductive land. The ‘defense’ budget would pay for this and improved water supply, desalination etc.

If you took every person on this earth and put them on the Australian continent each person could be dealt 1/3 acre plot… And there would be some left over at the end. For years, I have had a sad laugh from the charities which strived to save the starving people of parts of Africa and other parts of the world. These charities, for as long as I can remember, enabled these poor people to breed another generation of misery, that would soon outstrip its food and water resources and fall into famine, disease, and tragedy again. Never have I heard about these do-good charities trying to introduce birth control or other measures to prevent the inevitable famines that would recur with predictable frequency.
We are headed in the same direction if we don’t quit pumping out babies three, four, six, eight or more at a time. This is a different world than it was in the 1800’s and we need to show some semblance of reproductive responsibility.
Except that our politicians are waaayyyy too gutless to do so, I wish that, instead of rewarding irresponsible breeding, by giving more welfare, lower taxes, or whatever, that they would reward responsibility by lowering taxes for people with two or fewer children, to include none. Instead of rewarding people who cause our schools to be overcrowded so that they ask for more money to build new ones every time you turn around, how about rewarding those who have no kids or only two? Instead of rewarding the ones who cause our highways to be so grossly overcrowded, how about lowering taxes for those with two or fewer kids? If they have three or more (grandfathering current offenders, of course) then make them pay exponentially higher taxes for the burden they place on infrastructure, resources, schools, etc????? If you want to have six kids, be my freakin guest, but be ready to pay through the nose in taxes for the burden YOU place on society by your little creations.
This would make too much sense so don’t look for the politicians to do it.

500 million. That’s the magic number of human beings that the planet was engineered for. By the time the ‘grandfather NWO’ realized this in the early 1800’s, the world’s population was well above that number.
You can’t just go around killing people to bring the population back down again however. Sterilization of reproductive organs through the water and food however is perfectly fine in their opinion. Slowly, the world population will decline again to its natural balance with nature through this and other methods.
Case study, Africa: Everyone knows that people in Africa are starving all over the continent in dozens of countries. Why? Over population. The arable land (land that CAN be cultivated for growing crops, CAN being the operative word) per capita in most African counties is staggeringly low. As the sea level rises and populations continue to expand in the immediate present, the situation will only get worse. We all saw the migration that happened when Katrina hit, tens of thousands of people had to leave and go elsewhere.
Imagine that on a world scale, millions of people will need to go somewhere else to live, away from the coast and somewhere where they can grow food. This will inevitably lead to wars and more people dying due to other countries repelling the migrants from their land for fear that their food supply will be devastated also. The fact is that there is only so much land that can grow a certain staple food, in a certain climate, on certain latitudes that will support only X amount of people.
It may be harsh, but maybe the best thing is just simply let the countries with famine problems balance out themselves. By balance I mean starve and die (I’m not racist, take that statement literally and scientifically). If the 1st world counties continue to supply humanitarian aid and food relief to the counties that don’t even have enough land to grow food to feed their own population, then those counties will inevitably suffer MORE as their population grows from our aid. Starvation will become more rampant, and those counties will require more aid to survive, further draining the food supply from the rest of the overpopulated world. It is easy to see that if humanitarian aid/ food donation continues there will be MORE starvation in every country.
This will be the case unless: New cheap to build technology is distributed among those starving countries that can increase the food supply. Technology such as safe GM foods, or even something as simple as a hydroponics room in every house in the entire world. No arable land would be necessary to grow crops indoors using a hydro setup, and every family could technically feed themselves.
However if these new technologies are distributed to help the starving people of the world, the population will continue to rise if the Sterilization War does not take hold on the citizens of the world. As a result, other complications with natural resources would arise such as deforestation for more homes, land conflicts, long lasting pollution exponentially increasing, and a general disruption on Mother Nature caused by an unprecedented number of humans.
So the question to ask your self is, is my action of sending food to a starving country really helping them? You will help people starving now yes, but ultimately you will be causing more starvation and more suffering in the future by increasing their population. My point is simply this, let the countries with food and population problems balance themselves out. We need to stop the overpopulation problem asap, and yes it is a problem, a big one. Guess what caused global warming and countless other problems that cause suffering and hardship on so many innocent people? Over population did. Think about it.
