The Kansas City Police Department has determined that a suspicious package found outside a federal courthouse in Kansas City does not contain explosives.
KCPD spokesman Rich Lockhart said a bomb squad examined a strange package found on the east side of the Charles Evans Whittaker U.S. Courthouse on Monday morning but by 11:15 a.m. had concluded that it was an innocuous package.
The matter now will be turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for further inspection.
