The move would beef up the combat force in the country without increasing the overall number of U.S. troops, a contentious issue as public support for the war slips. But many of the noncombat jobs are likely be filled by private contractors, who have proved to be a source of controversy in Iraq and a growing issue in Afghanistan.
The plan represents a key step in the Obama administration’s drive to counter Taliban gains and demonstrate progress in the war nearly eight years after it began.

they said maybe 100,000 dead iraqs, and maybe less for afghanistan, but we all know from real studies there is more then 1 million dead Iraqis and several hundred thousand dead Afghans..
…after all what is the strategy? for Afghanistan for example: hold the main city = KABUL, set up numerous outposts throughout the country, stay inside those bases, and carry out constant artillery strikes on wherever you think the fighters are at = bombing villages = many dead women and children = many more angry Afghans = more resistance = more control for Taliban = more dead nato
U.S. doesn’t count for their dead the contractors, all the illegal immigrants in the army, those who are shot / blown up, but then die outside country, and on top of that just cuts the figure as low as they can till most people will still believe

From what I understand trigger pullers ARE replacement troops , which costs us tens more and no over sight allows them to murder , deal arms & drugs and buy under age prostitutes . But the bigger problem isn’t over site , it’s the use of U.S mercenaries to put bodies into the bases and occupations expanding all over the globe , at an alarming rate , while they start more ……….. If Viet Nam had been fought with an “all volunteer” military then we would probably still be there. It was the parents,loved ones and ex-military that got fed up with taking our youth and forcing them to serve that brought about all the demostrations. Our country was on the verge of a revolution because of that war and our children being drafted.
Today nobody is protesting because only folks that are stupid enough to want to be in that war are there and most of them come from parents that actually are foolish enough to believe whatever the gov. tells them about anything.
I was drafted and did not like it one bit. I had just recently got married and my first son was 20 days old when I went to Nam. My folks were mad as hell and so were tens of thousands of other folks. I think my mother would have killed LBJ herself if she could have got to him.
Right now most of America just do not give a damn about the guys that are voluntarily where they want to be doing what they chose to do. That is exactly why we have not gone back to the draft and are using mercenaries. Ther will be no public outcry because the average family is not adversly affected if a soldier is killed any more so than if an electrition gets electrocuted in the performance of his chosen profession.

The reason you will never have another independent investigation of 9-11 is because there were no commercial planes on 9-11. Any independent investigation would immediately try to verify the plane debris to make sure that 9-11 was exactly as we have been told. Just one problem, there were no commercial planes on 9-11. I just saw something astounding on MSNBC. Keith Olberman slammed George Will’s Op-ed which calls for American troops to withdraw from Afghanistan and for Obama to basically end the war. Olberman cynically called Will’s plan a “cut-an-run” strategy. I used to have respect for Olberman, and I guess it is shocking to see him slamming someone who suggests that we end the war. Olberman was acting all those years when he claimed to oppose war during the Bush years.

This is all crap, I just got out of the Army 8 months ago and I have been to Iraq and Afghanistan with the 82nd AB. Theres no way that any unit can fight without support units, you need ammo, commo, maintenance, logistics etc.. without any support teams with would be in deep crap. What I am about to say many people on this site might not approve of.
As time goes on and I look at the sites of some of the guests i.e. Steve quail and of the gentlemen from Fox Mancal, I read their statements and I feel revolted and I want to through up.
The problem is I am a Muslim, I am not the enemy ! And I do not know of any decent Muslim who has hatred in his heart for any person.
We are taught that even on the battlefield, if the enemy surrenders then we do not just allow them to leave, but it goes one step further, and tells us that we must secure them to a place of safety even at the risk of our own lives.
That means if an enemy then we have to protect them and all of their valuables with our own life, this is straight out of the Quran.
The point I am making is that many of my friends think I am made about this web site and all the good information it provides. However, some days it is very hard and I now Alex has a hard time in trying to unite all free humanity and if you truly into Islamic history many people in the west would be shocked.
Today irrespective of what a person may call themselves we are fighting people who truly worship evil.
All I want to say from my heart is we all need to stand together on truth irrespective, where it comes from.
So understand, many of my family have been killed at the hands of American service personnel, but I do not have hatred for them as they did not know what they were getting themselves involved in .However, by not speaking out at what different states, and groups are doing to innocent people in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq etc,, IS for me unforgivable.

There is one more important point not all of the resistance in Afghanistan are drug lords there are many in the Taliban, within the core group that have never benefited from drug money or bribery and also after the Afghanistan invasion, many people in the Pakistan military resigned their commission and are the actual main body of the resistance and their priorities are completely honorable and its because of them that no matter how much money has been given in bribes these people believe in victory or martyrdom just as the American public would fight tooth and nail against foreign occupation so please please do not lump all of the resistance as drug lords.
