UK seeking new world order by Afghan war

Despite reports of the UK’s plan for peace talks with the Taliban, Premier Gordon Brown defends Britain’s military involvement in the Afghan war, saying his country must play a full role in ‘changing the world’.
“I believe that Britain can and must play its full part in changing the world,” the British prime minister said Monday.
“Britain can lead in the construction of a new world order,” he said in a speech, extracts of which have been released by Downing Street.
Supporting the UK’s military mission in the war-torn country, Brown said more has been planned in 2009 and “enacted with greater success” to cripple al-Qaeda than in any year since 2001.
“So I vigorously defend our action in Afghanistan and Pakistan because al-Qaeda is today the biggest source of threat to our national security,” he noted.

The US, with cooperation of its European allies including Britain, invaded Afghanistan in 2001 to allegedly eradicate the Taliban and arrest militant leaders.
But more than eight years after the so-called war on terrorism began, a leaked memo has revealed that the British government has been seeking reconciliation with Taliban’s leadership council based in the Pakistani city of Quetta.
Britain’s state television BBC reported on Saturday that the memo proposed that “reconciled” Taliban should be removed from the UN sanctions list.
After the beginning of the war, Taliban leader Mullah Omar and al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden fled to Quetta, where they received the support of Pakistani security officials.
The eight-year-old war in Afghanistan has so far failed to kill or arrest the main militant commanders.
Brown, who is tipped to lose a general election to the opposition Conservatives due by June, is under tense pressure at home as public support for the war is waning.
According to the latest opinion poll, an increasing majority of Britons want the country’s 9,000 troops out of Afghanistan within a year.
Some 71 percent of Britons would back a phased withdrawal of British forces within 12 months, a poll conducted by the Independent showed on Sunday.
In the latest casualty on Sunday, a British soldier was killed while on foot patrol in southern Afghanistan, taking the death toll to 233.

People here are getting to see through the lies of the Blair years. Why are our lads really in Afghanistan? To save the world from terrorism? That is the biggest lie ever. No-one complained when the Yanks were bankrolling the killers who set off bombs and killed innocent civilians in the name of Irish Republicanism.
We were lied to about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and joined you in wrecking the infrastructure of that country which has never recovered. So Saddam was a nasty s--- but it was the Yanks that put his party in power in the first place.
I have the greatest respect for America and all the good it has done in the world but it must allow others to make their own way without interference and try understand why so many despise your country. Like Pearl Harbour, 911 was a wake up call where America should have looked to itself as to why it really happened.
In the old time Westerns the good guys wore white hats and the bad guys wore black. The real world is not like that and it is all too easy to blame 911 on one character. Bin Laden was once the C.I.A.s golden boy but he is one of many who turned against what THEY see as the evil empire. WHY?
As for Afghanistan …. they have been successfully fighting off outsiders for generations. Their system of local warlords who form loose alliances in the face of a common threat or cause has done them well and they have no concept of democracy as we understand it. Like Vietnam it is a hopeless thing for outside forces to try change aaand will only ever be an ever expanding graveyard for they that go there. We (in the west) will fare no better than the Russians did and I beleive history will show this.

The policies they campaigned with were dropped in favour of new ones, due to changing circumstances. The same will happen again. Clearly you were in lala land when we(the U.S.) sent the initial 16 boots in to afghan(less came out) to root out al qaeda, due to slow progress(or failure, whichever word you wish to choose) we then in turn asked the limeys to aid us…they sent 6 of their best who were in Oman to join the remainder who were then joined by a few dozen french not long after. then when we finally admited we missed them, Americans/brits/small numbers of other NATO allies touched sand weeks after. upon ground invasion it was declared a war, ask anyone who served/still serves…it was/still is made clear it was/is a ‘war’ not a conflict or any other silly little name.

Over many years we have all been lied to by our Governments… But not just our Governments but many religous leaders. And the UN was conceived by Communists, was founded by Communists and always has been run by Communists for Communist purposes. This would eventually mean the complete Communist subjugation of the United States.
UN means world dictatorship. Bush put the United States back into UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which the United States quit many years ago.
UNESCO was flooding the nation’s schools with Communist world government propaganda. That was one of its main purposes. See the UN series entitled Toward World Understanding.
Along these lines, UNICEF, the UN Children’s Fund, has recently been pushing child sex with homosexuals and with animals. In South Africa, a UNICEF outfit called LoveLife promotes sodomy and abortion. Would the victims of such programs be black?
