U.S. Army Troops To Serve As U.S. Policemen?

According to the Army Times (dated Tuesday, September 30, 2008), “Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT [Brigade Combat Team] will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.”
The article continued by saying, “But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.
“After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be a permanent one.”
The Times column also reported that the Army brigade “may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control . . .” It seems that the Army’s new domestic duties also include “traffic control” as well as subduing “unruly or dangerous individuals.”
The brigade will be known for the next year as a Consequence Management Response Force, or CCMRF (pronounced “sea-smurf”).
I am assuming that the planners and promoters of this newfound function for the Army brigade envision the Army assisting local first responders in dealing with natural emergencies such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and the like. Good intentions notwithstanding, to assign domestic police duties to the U.S. military is extremely disturbing.
To understand my concern for this new “homeland Army brigade,” it is important that we rehearse the principles of liberty as they relate to standing armies.
One of America’s most sacred principles has always been that the U.S. military was never to be used for domestic law enforcement. The fear of standing armies ran very deep in the hearts and minds of America’s founders. The tyranny and misery inflicted upon the colonies by British troops weighed heavily upon those who drafted our Constitution and Bill of Rights. In their minds, the American people would never again be subjected to the heavy weight of army boots. Furthermore, they insisted that America would have a civilian–not military–government.
And after the fiasco of the abuse of federal troops in the South following the War Between the States, the doctrine of Posse Comitatus was enacted into law. The Wikipedia online encyclopedia says this about Posse Comitatus:
“The Act prohibits most members of the federal uniformed services … from exercising nominally state law enforcement police or peace officer powers that maintain ‘law and order’ on non-federal property. . . .

“The statute generally prohibits federal military personnel and units of the United States National Guard under federal authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress. . . .
“The Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act substantially limit the powers of the federal government to use the military for law enforcement.”
The Posse Comitatus Act was passed in 1878 and was universally accepted as being a very just–and extremely important–law of the land.
But in 2006, President George W. Bush pushed a Republican-controlled Congress to pass the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007, which included a section titled “Use of the Armed Forces in major public emergencies.” This section provided that “The President may employ the armed forces to restore public order in any State of the United States the President determines….” In effect, this bill obliterated Posse Comitatus.
When the Democrat-controlled Congress passed the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, however, the restrictions of Posse Comitatus were restored. But when President Bush signed the Act into law, he attached a signing statement (Executive Order) indicating that the Executive Branch did not feel bound by the changes enacted by the repeal. Translated: President Bush wiped out Posse Comitatus by Executive Order.
Now, just a few months after expunging Posse Comitatus, President Bush has authorized an Army brigade to be assigned the new role of dealing exclusively with domestic law enforcement and related duties. This evokes serious questions.
Who will give the order to send U.S. troops against American civilians, and under what circumstances? What will the rules of engagement be? How will “unruly” and “dangerous” be defined? How will soldiers be asked to deal with “crowd” or “traffic” control? And perhaps the biggest question is, Once we begin to go down this road, where will it lead?
For several years, the federal government has been accumulating to itself more and more authority that was historically understood to reside within the states and local communities. More and more, our police departments have taken on the image and tactics of the armed forces. And to a greater and greater degree, the rights and liberties of the American people are being sacrificed on the altar of “national security.” It seems to me that to now ascribe law enforcement duties to the U.S. Army only serves to augment the argument that America is fast approaching police state status.
If Hurricane Katrina is the template that our federal government is using as a model for future events, Heaven help us! Do readers remember how National Guard troops were used to confiscate the personal firearms of isolated and vulnerable civilians shortly after that hurricane devastated the New Orleans area? Do you remember how representatives of the federal government were calling upon pastors and ministers to act as spokesmen for gun confiscation? Is this what the new Army brigade is preparing for? And do President Bush and his military planners envision an even broader role for military troops on American soil?
Add to the above rumors of thousands of plastic caskets–along with thousands of portable prison cells–being shipped and stored across the country, and one is left to ask, Exactly what is it that our federal government is planning?
I think there is an even bigger question, What exactly will members of our armed forces do if and when they are commanded to seize Americans’ firearms, arrest them at gun point, or even fire upon them? How many soldiers and Marines love liberty and constitutional government enough to resist such orders, should they be given? And how many officers would resist issuing such orders?
Remember, it is the job of the armed forces to kill people and blow up things, not to do police work. Then again, Presidential administrations from both major parties have been using the U.S. military as U.N. “peacekeepers” for decades now. So, was all of this preparation for what is yet to take place in the United States?
God forbid that any of the above should actually take place in our beloved land, but I believe it would be naïve to not see that the actions and attitudes of the federal government over the past several years do nothing to assuage such fears.

Unfortunately, when the nations that America is so deeply indebted to observe American soldiers killing American citizens and they see American families lying dead in our streets, it iis NOT going to encourage them to continue investing here (the complete and absolute fallicy of America being some kind of “safe haven” – ?!? – for investors will be completely exposed)… I guess we have to continue repeating the truth over and over and over until the administration gets it: dead customers are really bad for business!! dead taxpayers are a real drag on tax revenues!! My heart breaks for the ignorant masses that is the American public, I’ve tried to inform my American brothers and sisters that its time to wake up. If they desire to take “legal” and “registered” weapons, won’t there be a significant smaller number of “unregistered” weapons to resist if the confiscation is tolerated? What sense does that make? Isn’t 3 million registered and unregistered weapons a bigger bargining chip than 1/2 million unregistered weapons? Whats the difference? This is a line that should NEVER be allowed to be crossed. Think about it… before free thought is taxed out of existance and your every waking moment is spent working to pay for the current “Banker Bailouts”!

When we see men in fatigues patrolling the streets of the United States, then it’s our Constitutional duty to shoot them as called for by the second amendment. This government ran by a facist corportacracy is not legit and needs to be overthrown.
These troops better go AWOL and not submit, because they’ll be fighting well armed civilians with nothing to lose. As Jesse Ventura said at the Rally for the Republic, if the farmers with AK-47s can take on everything that the military has got in Nam, imagine what we could do.

Your comment to me, #8, about Dr. Paul not being our hero can only mean that you are disappointed. What about everything that he did achieve? We do not live in a perfect world because if we did, you are correct, he would also be up on that stage of “debates” with whover else would be there. He also is continuing on for our cause. I do not understand why even while being disappointed, he cannot be given credit for what almost no one will do who is in his position.
What I cannot understand also is about something that seems that only Alex Jones besides myself has taken notice of. Dr. Paul was the only candidate who did not try for the presidency because he wanted to just for his/her ego. He DID IT FOR US… by our request. He did more than anyone else in that case. All the others did it only for themselves and those whose hands were greasing theirs and expecting them to grease theirs back. Give Dr. Paul credit for not quitting. If it were his idea to become president then maybe you are correct, we would be seeing him as an independent candidate since this time around he had the supporters that he did not have 20 years ago.
No matter, the man should be given the highest credits for what he has done and what he still is doing. There is so much in being where he is that I guess it takes a man such as Alex Jones being in the public limelight to know it all to appreciate the man beyond what the average person does. Open yourself alittle bit more and you will see it also.

Well the sad part is that many want the troops here and they want the troops on the streets, because they are in fear, and they also want security and yes they have asked for it and continue too.
Many just do not get what is going on and well they are so brainwashed that it makes no difference as long as they have their football, soaps, and other mindless fun like video games, pornography, and all they other silly s---.
People want comfort more then they want freedom.
Look at the state of American health, many are fat lazy, and so poisoned that they cannot fight if they wanted.
Well we are in for some rough times, and well we have to wake up some.
Oh and I am one of those mindless service men, here on our streets and well I serve to educate other fellow soldiers, and show them things, and some wake up, but many will just stay asleep, to those good soldiers waking up a Big Hooah!!!!!!!!!

All you have to do is stock up,gear up,lock and load up, and wait. The time is not quite yet at hand. We all know what to do in our hearts. The time is just around the corner, but not quite here yet. Now is the time to stock up, for when the REAL time comes, there will be nothing left to stock up on. I just hope they don’t nuke us all. Things will never be the same after all this, but perhaps they will be better if we can make it to the other side. I see alot of talk about the U.S. Constitution and how we need to support it and so on, but what is happening here I think goes much farther beyond this Constitution, This is a spiritual battle being fought with us in the middle of the end time game between good and evil. This is a test of your faith in either mans laws, IE, the Constitution and Gods laws contained in scripture. You can either put your life on the line in support of this man made document which was obviously flawed from it’s beginning or you can join the spiritual battle for Gods laws which was only flawed once man got his paws on it to conveniently change portions of it to fit his wants and needs.
This goes so much deeper than a battle for the U.S. Constitution! I just hope we can show the Creator, The Great Spirit, that we are worthy of his protection and guidance in this spiritual battle during these end times. FASCISM WARNING SIGNS OF FASCISM
1. Exuberant nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic images, slogans and symbols – National flags are seen everywhere in public display. Territorial aggression is explained to be mere destiny — an unbidden greatness thrust upon the nation by history.
It is this burden of unique responsibility that now raises the fascist state above all previous constraint, no longer bound by international obligations, treaties or law.
2. Enemies Identified
This national cause is identified as unity against enemies – The people are rallied around a unifying patriotism directed against some common threat: communists, liberals, a racial, ethnic or religious minority, intellectuals, homosexuals, terrorists, etc.
The state’s message is sometimes couched in an easily recognized religious theme. Amazingly, this language is used even when the full context of the teaching shows the meaning to be diametrically opposed. Any dissent is “siding with the enemy”, and there for treasonous.
3. Rights Disappear
Disdain for human and political rights – Fascist regimes foster an artificial climate of fear by intentionally amplifying stress and anxiety. Citizens naturally feel a strong need for security and are easily persuaded to ignore abuses in the name of safety. The few still willing to question are met with bullying and smear campaigns of intimidation.
Legislative bodies, if still in existence at all, are cowed into rubber-stamp submission with occasional ceremonial opposition. The judiciary tends to become activist in support of state views. The public often looks away, or even enthusiastically approves as rights are stripped away.
The concept of the individual inevitably yields ground, exchanged for the promised safety of the all-powerful state.
4. Secrecy Demanded
Obsession with secrecy and national security – The workings of government become increasingly hidden. Questioning of authority is discouraged at all levels of society. From office talk at the water cooler up through the entire apparatus of rule, guarded speech and secrecy become ends in themselves.
Troubling questions are muted and entire areas of scrutiny are placed out of bounds by simply invoking “national security”.
5. Military Glorified
Supremacy of the military – The military establishment receives a disproportionate share of government resources, even as pressing domestic needs are neglected. Individual soldiers and military culture are glamorized and made constantly visible.
This provides both an object for public glorification, as well as sharp warning to possibly restless citizens that the power of the state stands close at hand, ready to use its great potential for violence.
6. Corporations Shielded
Corporate power is protected – Typically, a segment of the business elite plays a major role in bringing fascists to national leadership, often from an unsavory obscurity. This marriage of big money and raw violence is often considered by historians to be the hallmark and backbone of fascism.
As these business-government-military interests meld, the significant threat of organized labor is clearly recognized. Labor unions and their support organizations are either co-opted successfully or ruthlessly suppressed and eliminated as soon as possible.
7. Corruption Unchecked
Rampant cronyism and corruption – Fascist states maintain power through this relatively small group of associates, mutually appointing each other to interlocking and rotating positions in government, business and the military.
With this degree of control, they make full use of both official secrecy and the ready threat of state violence to insulate themselves from any meaningful criticism. They are not accountable and are shielded from scrutiny in a way unthinkable in a democratic society.
8. Media Controlled
Controlled mass media – Sometimes the media are controlled directly by clumsy government functionaries. At other times, sympathetic corporate media insiders shape the themes indirectly, and there for more skillfully. Image regularly trumps content as the “news” is presented breathlessly and with flashy stage effects.
A practiced formula of tenacious repetition brings even the most absurd lie into acceptance over time. By design, the very language itself and the coloration employed will push alternate views “out of the mainstream”.
The terms of any remaining debate are narrowly defined to the state’s advantage, making it easy to marginalize a truly differing perspective. Censorship and “self-censorship”, especially in wartime, is common.
9. Rampant Sexism
Rampant sexism – Governments of fascist states tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Traditional gender roles are made even more rigid and exaggerated. Condemnation of abortion and a virulent homophobia are commonly built into broad policy.
10. Intellectual Bullying
Disdain for intellectuals – Fascist society tends to create an environment of extreme hostility to critical thought in general, and to academics in particular.
Ideologically driven “science” is elevated and lavishly funded, while any expression not in line with the state view is at first ignored, then challenged, then ridiculed and finally stamped out.
It is not uncommon for academics to be pressured to attack the work of their insufficiently patriotic peers. Writings are censored; teachers are fired and arrested. Free artistic expression in new works is openly attacked, and existing works deemed unpatriotic are often publicly destroyed.
11. Militarized Police
Obsession with crime and punishment – Fascist society is often willing to overlook police abuses and forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. Long jail sentences for clearly political offenses, torture and then assassination are at first uncomfortably tolerated, and then start to pile up to become the norm.
Often a national police force is given virtually unlimited power to snoop through the civilian population. Networks of surveillance and informers are employed, both for actual intelligence gathering and also as a means to keep neighbors and co-workers isolated and mistrustful of each other.
12. Elections Stolen
Fraudulent elections – In the disordered time as fascists are rising to power, the electoral arena becomes increasingly confusing, corrupted, and manipulated.
There is rising public cynicism and distrust over what are widely believed to be phony elections manipulated by moneyed influence, obvious media bias, smear campaigns, ballot tampering, judicial interference, intimidation, or outright assassination of potential opposition.
