President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in an interview with the Al Jazeera television network on Monday night, the website of the president’s office reported.
“Creating conflicts in relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia in order to dominate the region and diverting attention from the United States’ internal problems are the most important objectives of this baseless allegation against the Iranian nation, but experience shows that such measures never bear fruit for US officials, and the truth will eventually be known by all nations,” the Iranian president said.
Ahmadinejad denied the allegations that Iran was involved in a plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington, saying that the United States has pointed the finger at Iran to divert attention from the ongoing protests in the country.
“The economic problems of the US are very serious, and accusing Iran is not going to solve any problem,” he added.
