The Pentagon is considering a plan to send more than 20,000 troops to Afghanistan over the next 12 to 18 months to help safeguard elections and quell rising Taliban violence, officials said on Friday.
U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates said he and top commanders had discussed sending five brigades to Afghanistan, including four brigades of combat ground forces as well as an aviation brigade, which a defence official said would consist mainly of support troops. An Army combat brigade has about 3,500 soldiers.
Gates said much of the infusion could take place before Afghanistan holds elections by next autumn.
“I think it’s important that we have a surge of forces before the election,” said Gates, who stressed no decision on troop deployments had been taken.
“We’ve had some very preliminary discussions,” he told reporters after meeting to discuss southern Afghanistan with his counterparts from NATO countries with troops deployed in the region.
Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said more support troops, also known as “enablers,” could also head to Afghanistan as Gates considers a request by U.S. Army Gen. David McKiernan, the top commander of NATO and U.S. forces in the country.

The commies failed to conquer Afghanistan with surge after surge after surge.
The only people who gained from the Russian occupation was the Kremlin arms dealers.

this sound like a brutal killing streak, if they don’t stop the drug trafficking in/from Afghanistan they can send 1 million soldiers …. they will still loose the “war” ….. the drugs are financing 90% of the resistance.

The Afghan war is not meant to be won, only sustained…to benefit the super-rich.

9-11 was orchestrated by agents of the Antichrist.
Soldiers who fight because of 9-11 are pawns of the Antichrist and are helping build the system of the beast.
Those who support the Antichrist will never see the Kingdom of Heaven.

Of course the Pentagon is planning this. Obama already said while running for president that he intended to increase troop levels in Afghanistan and to invade Pakistan if he believes that countrys government is not doing enough to crack down on terrorists, Taliban, etc.

looks like the US rockefeller faction vs Euro rothchild faction again. Need opium to fund their respective economies. Drug money’s not the most ethical, but its all reletive when your a born blood sucking parasite anyway.

Dear Shadow you requested enlightenment: Please reserve your criticism for our “glorious” Leaders —don’t blame the soldiers — they don’t make the wars — they are mostly middle class American 18-23 yr olds like my son who DON’T have rich parents to fund college nor can find a job, nor are a welfare case who can get a gov free ride for nothing. Young people enlist because they are givers not takers — they want to gain strength , skills, training , courage and values and protect family and country…. their hearts are in the right place and more importantly they are putting their bodies on the line for wherever the USA commander in cheif sends them….unfortunately i thought our soldiers would come home from Iraq but it looks like many are going to go on to Afaghanistan… With a terrible world economy….for some young people (who may be parents too) its their only chance for feeding their family….Our “fearless” Leaders Bush/Obama ARE going to have an ARMY regardless if it cramps your style of sitting around and watching youTube …..or would you rather take your chance draft dodging ? Hey nobody here wants war…..but please put the blame on the appropraite Commander.

#3, I am unfortunatley a pawn of the govt because I am in the army. People mainly join the military for a few reasons…
1. because they are poor and can make 3,000 a month over seas (this is for low ranking soldiers)
2. because the cool army,air force, navy ads on tv with cool music makes it seem fun and exciting
3. people are ignorant to the truths of reality, they are brainwashed
4. if you were nerdy and picked on as a youth you might be more likely to jointhe military
I’m sure there are some other reasond but they all relate to these sort of things…
Peace

The Afghans beat the British, the Soviets, and now will hand the US it’s ass. What a waste of human life. But wait… Obama is a man of peace, he will end all the wars! We’re saved!! Thank the lord for Obama!!! Thank you Jesus for giving us Bill Clinton in black face!

Great, more surge plans, more DU, more senseless killing over this false flag op. For poster #11 I do concur with your sentiment of being a pawn, just like Kissenger said we were. I also was duped until my last 2 years in the service
I joined the Navy in the late 80’s after years of prodding from my well meaning Dad, who served during WW2. Yes, it was economic, but it was also I had little interest going corporate at that time. Had I known what I know today about our shadow govt, I would have taken a whole different course in life.
Some of the Nam vets tried to warn me, but they only had bitterness due to their war/MIA’s and could not give me the background that Alex, Mark, Kent Hovind, Devvy Kidd, and Howard Philipps provided over the years. Real Patriots that know the score.

#12 – The Afghans didn’t beat the Soviets, the US backed Afghans, with huge supplies of stinger missiles made the Soviet occupation too costly to continue.
Facts have emerged that show US complicity in allowing Taliban prisoners to escape demonstrate that the US planners (just like Vietnam) don’t want “victory”. They just want to maintain the presence, so they allow the resistance to regroup and reconstitute in order to justify continuing US occupation.
With the level of firepower available, and the surveillance technology in existence, if utilized at full effectiveness, could easily render the Taliban and their AK47s impotent. But that’s not the game. The game is long term US occupation to guard, secure and control the gas and oil pipelines and the opium production.

Thats right 14 and 11. The current state of Amerika is pathetic we are the USSA today with fraudulent wars for the bankers, contractors, and CIA dope runners and dumb masses supporting all the corruption thinking they are active by voting on a Diebold electronic scamming machine every November.
If you know American history without the Marxist slant at the “Universities” then you realize the role of the President and Courts is supposed to be smaller than that of your “Representatives”. Wev’e got a great group up there “representing” us by giving the Rothschilds, Warburgs, Lehmans, and Morgans more free lunch 1913 style while the real economy of productivity continues to collapse. Don’t any of these people read Hazlitt, Mises, or Rothbard? God bless Ron Paul for being a Puritan in Babylon. I hope the Rapture crowd is right, we need Jesus to return!

Given the financial meltdown now underway, I’m guessing the most important reasons for retaining control over Afghanistan are maintaining opium production. This could especially be true since so much of the Latin American drug-producing regions seem to be loosening their dependence upon the US as well.
Peru is being visited by the Russian president Medvedev;
the Mexican drug/civil war is continuing (the most important question there is probably whether covert US control of the drug trade through Mexico is actually being honestly threatened by the anti-narco campaign, or is some other game going on here?);
perhaps the losses in the Wall Street markets partially reflect a loss of laundered funds to pump up the money-center banks? I don’t really know, but it’s probably worth keeping in mind along with all the other trends that get either offical or “normal-alternative” attention. Unfortunately, the drug trade and the US power structure’s involvement usually only gets attention to the level of trying to prove involvement, not figure out it’s actual effect as a regular player on the normal course of business. That’s a shame, since if it is as big as it seems, it’s effects on the financial industry is probably comparable to housing and autos — in other words, it’s impossible to truly understand Wall Street without taking it into account explicitly.

Where is the “CHANGE” we were promised?
November 25th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
I say again, the war in Afghanistan is lost. The only thing left to do is enter into negotiations with the Pashtuns and the Taliban and find a face-saving way out.
