Ventura May Run for ‘Big One’ in 2012; Passed on Senate Run After ‘Coin Toss’

Former Governor Jesse Ventura made the rounds on Howard Stern and Fox News yesterday where he revealed that his decision not to run for Senate was ultimately left up to chance– flipping a coin just an hour before the Minnesota filing deadline.
As Ventura also told the Alex Jones Show a few weeks ago, he was tempted to run, but was concerned about the impact it would have on his wife and children over a six-year term. Ultimately, the former Governor says he was right at fifty-fifty on whether or not to challenge “chicken-hawk” incumbent Norm Coleman (R-MN) and comedian and liberal radio-host Al Franken in a three-way senate race.
Instead, Ventura told Hannity he may even run for president in 2012 because the other positions wouldn’t allow him to ‘bring America back to the Constitution.’ Ventura also warned that the U.S. is on the brink of corporate fascism and attacked the Democrats for aiding President Bush in ’stripping’ the 4th Amendment and allowing spying on American citizens without a warrant– Ventura says he was personally wiretapped as governor.
HANNITY: You should have run, cause It’s in your blood.
VENTURA: No, because I won’t bother with that one. I’ve been in the executive branch as a mayor and a governor. So if I run, it’ll be 2012 for the big one.
HANNITY: You wanna run for president.
VENTURA: Yeah.
HANNITY: You’re thinking about it
VENTURA: No, I just said if I do, it’ll be for the big one, because there’s no point in going for the other ones. I can’t make the changes that I feel need to happen in America to bring us back to our Constitution.
This suggestion of things to come is surprising– as Ventura has frequently discussed the hypothetical last chapter in his otherwise non-fiction book ‘Don’t Start the Revolution Without Me’ where Ventura writes himself as an candidate for president who is assassinated after his victory looks likely.

He pointed to this chapter during his conversation with Howard Stern & crew, essentially asserting that any candidate who can’t be controlled could not survive to be elected president– a cynical but realistic point, given JFK, RFK, MLK, Malcolm X, Huey Long, George Wallace and countless others outside the U.S. Ventura’s perspective comes, in part, from studying the JFK assassination and cover-up extensively.
So, for the former Governor to even flirt with the idea of running for president in spite of the potential danger shows tremendous courage– though he has been fearless in discussing politics.
Indeed, Ventura not has not only discussed controversial subjects like 9/11 on the Alex Jones show and on Howard Stern– but he did so on Fox News and dozens of other shows as well, holding his own and refusing to tone down his statements. His veracity and boldness have indicated that he wouldn’t be easy to control as a political asset.
Ventura is proving to be an influential political voice even without running for Senate– already he has committed to appear at the upcoming anti-war / 9/11 truth concert alongside Willie Nelson and has further agreed to appear at Ron Paul’s parallel GOP convention in Minnesota (August 31-September 2).

I am just saying ,Jones step back ,take a deep breath and make sure the “foundation”for our cause of Liberty and freedom and returning the constitution is a solid one.
This fight will not be won over night and mistakes are harder to rectify .
Grow REAL credibility and ir will attract even more REAL credible people who will strengthen the movement and the massage.
Afterall YOU and the freedom message needs more numbers and has to go mainstream to get exposure and get the numbers up support wise.

I would be as stoked as I was when Ron Paul was running if Jesse decided to run. We need someone to keep the rEVOLution moving forward (a candidate getting out the message on a large scale) or people will become unmotivated and give up. I hope Jesse fills this niche. Jesse is a great debater with a strong base of common sense (hard to come by these days) and ability to be assertive without getting angry. He’s also not afraid to be politically incorrect and state reality as it is. He’s already proven he can beat the odds and get elected. People laughed when he ran for governor in ‘98 but they weren’t laughing the morning after the election. Go Jesse!

to sign a letter which includes something like the following:-
“We are convinced that Bush & Cheney were behind 9/11. These

You seem very intelligent, but I realize maybe too intelligent for your own good. You are consistently ripping on Mr. Ventura, but why? He is, unlike you, a celebrity who is well known, a successful politician (he held the highest office a state can offer), a published author, and an actor. Unless you are one or more of those things and able to get on TV and have enough celebrity presence to raise enough capitol to even think about a presidential run or run for any high office, then your opinions and intelligence amount to not a whole lot. At least Mr. Ventura is out there in the mainstream trying to effect change any way he can. Yeah he might have had what you consider a “fake” career back in the 80s, but it isn’t the 80s anymore, almost 3 decades have passed and Ventura moved on while you are staying in his past. Not to mention, professional wrestling, while scripted, is a tough profession to be in, is painful, is dangerous, and is physically strenuous (and correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think I have seen you on TV because of your physical prowess).

If the revolution was fought and won (or lost, for that matter), Alex’s way of making money and living a “middle class” lifestyle (see “yuppie”) would end, and he would have to get a real job. That’s why Alex has spent ten years barking, but never biting, and discouraging others from biting because we still need to “wake up” more people. Alex is probably a very talented CIA agent whose job is to control the dissent and steer it towards non-violence so that there will never be a revolution. Mind-control, in other words. All the people that are gonna “wake up” have already. Now Alex wants us to let our lives pass by working for much less than Alex makes in much lower living standard than Alex enjoys. When you call up a news media, any of them, and say that you have a national story they connect you to ONE person. That one person, be it NYTimes, Washington Post, LA or Chicago times, WSJ…..takes your call and listens to your “story”.
Try it yourself because it must be verified by you personally. Call up ANY media and say that there were no planes on 911 because after reviewing the “evidence” given by Bush that you still are unable to find a single plane. This is the standard reaction and scripted response…..I got this one from the NYTimes……”Oh yeh….then what happened to all the people and what were all those planes we saw on TV”. Then the young man hung up. This happened at over 7 different National media outlets in the US. Try it yourself. So….if I can show that EVERY person aboard those planes were connected to military, governmnet, media, or highly devout Christian sevants and that what you saw on “TV” was bogus…..then the poor media person would have no argument at all?

Jamie… I know it sounds cliche, but the most rational thing to do at this point is to NOT GIVE UP.

He talks about how you’re labelled a kook if you talk about 9/11 being an inside job, and then he yells at a caller and hangs up on her, calling her a kook and yelling “you’re a schizophrenic, aren’t you?! aren’t you?!” Well, perhaps she is. I understand perfectly well that the cult of personality mentality associated with celebrities or icons is not a reason to support them. However, we live in reality in a place called America in the 21st century. People will not, in the course of a year, identify and build up an unknown person to the point of being elected to high public office, especially as a third party. However, if a celebrity who is very well known wakes up to what is going on, has been previously elected to a high office, and has the name recognition to get elected, then that is a GOOD thing. Because if he can get elected and is at least mostly awake, then he is a far better choice than the others we are presented with. Not saying it is right, but it is how reality is.
My point to you is also that you are being counterproductive by attacking someone like Ventura who has a platform and name recognition that is waking up to the crap that is happening in this country and has the balls to say it on TV, Radio or other popular media. Also, he has been elected to public office twice, so that shows he is electable. He may not be “perfect” but no one is perfect, and if you EVER find the perfect person, you must have died and are meeting God.
Here it is in a nutshell. You are on Alex Jones’ comment section bad mouthing the man who gives you this small platform to pontificate, and bad mouthing another guy who is a celebrity and bring the message to the “mainstream” crowd that otherwise would not bother finding information from sources like Alex Jones, Griffin, and the host of other lesser known people.
I welcome and embrace someone like Ventura, because he is doing something and on a larger platform than any of us can currently gain access to. Unfortunately, in our society as it stands, it will take a person of celebrity status or semi-celebrity status to break us through to where people will focus in on the lesser knowns who do good research and know the truths. We need more “celebrities” (which are actually just well known American citizens, with the same rights as us) to come out with the truth and start waking people up. I think it is the ONLY way we will be able to turn this country around in time to save us without a complete collapse.
You can either agree with that or not, but it is how it is. Jones and Ventura will be able to make a bigger impact than either of us, unless we ourselves become “celebrities” or “very well known”, then we will be exactly what you are preaching against. Don’t you see your own contradiction?
To be able to change the rules of their game, we will have to play the game with it’s current rules first.

I think Michael Davis’s post #68 says it rather well to the majority of the people making comments here on this topic. It is nice to see that there is someone else who can see a bigger picture and to extrapolate out of it more positive things than negative.
I will have to say this, though, about AWAKE. Even though some of the things being said are not agreeable, what is being said is being put into a rather good verse and since Awake has come back to reply to others here, that also is commendable. Not only is the context well written, but actually what is said, whether agreed with or not, is logically thought out. I think all Awake has to do is read many of the other comments here, especially replying to Awake’s and especially the one from Michael Davis.

Oh.. By the way.. I experienced my first checkpoint today when I was down in Brazoria County (Pearland, TX specifically). The Pearland police were “directing traffic” and pulling people over with anything wrong with their car or acting “suspicious”. My inspection sticker expired 2 days ago, and I couldn’t get it renewed because I was not in my county at the time it expired. The cop told me he was going to give me a ticket and I told him “no you are not. checkpoints are illegal in this country and I will contacting an FBI I know from Houston on the matter.” The cop said, “it’s ok, just consider it a warning and get going.” I started to drive off and had to wait for a bit to get back onto the road, and by the time I got back onto the road the cops (all 6) were getting in their cars to leave. I keep telling people “Enforce your rights because the cops and the courts are NOT obligated to do so for you.”
