Pittsburgh police on Thursday used an audio cannon manufactured by American Technology Corporation (ATCO), a San Diego-based company, to disperse protesters outside the G-20 Summit — the first time its LRAD series device has been used on civilians in the U.S.
An ATC sales representative confirms to DailyFinance that Pittsburgh police used ATC’s Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD). “Yes, we sold one LRAD unit to a government agency — I don’t know which one — which was used in Pittsburgh,” the representative said. American Technology Corp.’s stock was trading up over 15 percent in heavy activity late Friday.

I like your approach mr obvious.
All of the pictures show people close enough to that thing to be in range of just about anything a guy with a good arm could throw.
Put gasoline in a large seal-able container. Like a 20 gallon aquarium with a lid made of plywood. Collect styrene packing foam from trash piles. Bust up the foam and place it in the gas and let it melt. Repeat the process until the gas has the consistency of 90 weight oil. Presto! Homemade napalm!
I doubt their hi-tech noise maker is fire proof. Sure as hell that truck isn’t.

The sound cannons don’t have to cause maximum damage. Bose noise cancelling headphones offer some level of protection when it comes to these devices. Ear plugs are not enough as white noise generation is needed to cancel out some of the harmful frequencies they are sending. As to the cops hitting the young children playing, ” god will not forget the unmitigating evil your perpatrated” come in little children playing in the street? You bastards have no right to do this.

The first question I have is why this author chose to highlight a stated 15% rise in the company stock in relation to the story about Pittsburg.
The last I checked, Pittsburg had erected the world’s preeminent ‘darth vader’ skyscraper and was pretty much on the ‘no fly list’ of American cities. To which, (since, like 2004,) my friend Frankie has claimed it to be a city “filled with a spirit of creative urban revival.” Was he thinking along the lines of the way they (he) ‘did’ San Fransisco, like 20 years ago? And, if it’s that hot what is it like creatively, compared to Denver?
Both cities have been said to have “fascist, pit-bull-headed cops.” I don’t know WHY they want to be known accordingly, but many tourists turn their signts on other places when they think about spending their travel money. For me, it’s strictly “No fly, No buy!’–meaning, anybody or anything that threatens my right to travel freely –and thus, to exercise my God-given Constitutional rights–deserves no cordon from me. If it’s an incumbent politician, chop off their cash-supply, and remind them of who actually sets the ‘budget priorties’…

The LRAD is nothing more than a bunch of high efficiency tweeters mounted on a flat panel. With a little bit of money, ingenuity, and 6-10 tweeters, a high powered car amp, microphone or other sound source and a twelve volt battery you could make one of your own that would sound just as loud and be portable. Two people could operate and carry or run with it. Counter measures would be to use ear plugs and ear muffs together. This would drop the level down to a loud rock concert. It has a very narrow beam width (30 degrees) so staying out of the direct beam will drop the sound level dramatically. Using a shield, say a piece of plexiglass held up to cover your head will also add to your protection. Large balloons filled with some kind of thick sticky liquid (paint, scrambled eggs, flour and water) and thrown at LRAD will reduce effectiveness or even disable it. A high powered .22 like say a .223 Remington shot from one hundred yards will definitely take it out. Fire while they are using LRAD and they will not hear the shot. Don’t take this crap from the government. Think of ways to protect yourself while demonstrating. Study their equipment and tactics and develope countermeasures and self defense tactics of your own. This our country, not theirs. Free men do not fear their government.
