An assortment of familiar stars threw together a video voicing their support behind California’s Mandatory Labeling of Genetically Engineered Food Initiative Proposition 37.
In the video, posted at the Right to Know Blog, Danny DeVito, Bill Maher, Dave Matthews, Jillian Michaels, Kristen Bauer van Straten, Emily Deschanel, Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, John Cho, and KaDee Strickland all give tounge-in-cheek excuses as to why Americans are left in the dark when it comes to knowing whether their foods contain GMO or not.
The initiative has seen major stunts pulled recently as it was revealed Whole Foods took down a video released by Organic Spies exposing their deception of customers by touting organic foods while simultaneously selling a large number of products that contain GMO ingredients.
Additionally, Aaron Dykes and Melissa Melton interviewed a Whole Foods executive that told them, “I don’t think that Whole Foods does anything to try and make people think that we don’t have food with GMOs in them;” meanwhile, a giant logo emblazoned on the side of the store declares, “NOTHING ARTIFICIAL, EVER!”
And although a recent long-term French study revealed the eminent dangers of eating a diet laden with NK603, a genetically modified corn produced by Monsanto, as directly correlative to developing horrifying tumors, widespread organ damage and premature death, there has been a strong push by Monsanto and other agribusiness giants, not surprisingly, in the other direction, spinning the study results and desperately trying to prevent any such labeling measure from passing.
The movement to label our foods is going strong, and it’s apparent companies funding and supporting the anti-label campaign are scared stiff. More than ever, it’s necessary to unleash a collective barrage of truth to expose the poisons being covertly grown in our foods.
