John McCain’s two most loyal supporters and most influential foreign policy advisers, Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham, have an Op-Ed in The Wall St. Journal today proclaiming that "Russia’s invasion of Georgia represents the most serious challenge to this political order since Slobodan Milosevic unleashed the demons of ethnic nationalism in the Balkans." Just as their neoconservative comrade, Fred Hiatt, does in today’s Washington Post, Lieberman and Graham demand that the U.S. expend vast resources and assert itself both militarily and politically in order to thwart the New Russian Menace ("This means reinvigorating NATO as a military alliance, not just a political one . . . The credibility of Article Five of the NATO Charter — that an attack against one really can and will be treated as an attack against all — needs to be bolstered. . . .The Georgian military should be given the antiaircraft and antiarmor systems necessary to deter any renewed Russian aggression").

The painful absurdity of hard-core warmongers who supported the invasion of Iraq (and, in Lieberman’s case, advocating we do the same to Iran and Syria) parading around as defenders of the "political order" is too self-evident, and by now too common, to merit much comment. But this warning from the neoconservative duo about the folly of imperialistic Russian policies is really a sight to behold:

In the long run, a Russia that tries to define its greatness in terms of spheres of influence, client states and forced fealty to Moscow will fail — impoverishing its citizens in the process. The question is only how long until Russia’s leaders rediscover this lesson from their own history.

To recap: the U.S. is going to impede Russian aggression, re-build and protect Georgia, revitalize the military strength of NATO, and restore peace and order to Europe. We’re going to stare down the Hitlers of Iran (also in the Post today, Lieberman comrade — the super-tough-guy and Iran obsessive Micheal Rubin — lashes out at Joe Biden for "blinking on Iran" and being "Tehran’s favorite senator"). We’re going to re-build, occupy and safeguard Iraq for decades if necessary. We will single-handedly promote Israel’s interests and view each of its enemies and its wars as our own. We’re also going to get much tougher on China, just like Russia:

A John McCain presidency would take to a more forceful approach to Russia and China, according to senior foreign policy advisers to the Republican candidate. . . .

Robert Kagan, who wrote much of the [foreign policy] speech delivered [by McCain] in Los Angeles, told the Daily Telegraph: "Russia will loom large for both Europe and the US, and John McCain has been ahead of the curve and has seen this coming down the road. . . .While continuing a "multi-faceted approach" to Beijing, [McCain foreign policy adviser Max] Boot said the US needs "to be forthright on their human rights abuses and not shrink from condemning what they are doing in Tibet for example, or from trying to help Chinese dissidents to stay out of jail".

And we’re going to do all that while cutting taxes further. But remember: it’s Russia, bulging with cash from oil exports, that better realize — for their own good — that its efforts "to define its greatness in terms of spheres of influence, client states and forced fealty to Moscow will fail — impoverishing its citizens in the process."

The foreign policy team exerting chief influence over John McCain is truly more extremist — in a purer and more deranged form — than the foreign policy team of the Bush administration. They’re not only the most extremist faction in American political life, but also the most delusional. These aren’t just the people who led the U.S. to war in Iraq — though they are that — but they’re also the ones who actually believe that the Bush administration has been far too meek in its assertion of U.S. military force and too passive in its interference in the affairs of other countries. They want to accelerate — massively intensify — virtually every one of the polices that has brought the U.S. to such disgrace and near ruination over the past eight years. There is nothing "moderate" or "centrist" about any of them. John McCain is the Candidate of Bill Kristol and Joe Lieberman and John Bolton for good and clear reasons (including in Georgia): he’s the best and most devoted instrument to advance their militaristic agenda.

Is there any real discussion of any of that? Hardly. Here’s the trite soap opera pablum and royal court intrigue which, instead, dominates our media’s campaign coverage:

    Clintons

Riveting. Being in Denver has meant that I’ve been in the proximity of the herds of establishment media figures for the first time, to actually hear what they say and how they conduct themselves off camera, and it’s all exactly the same. The only topics they’re capable of thinking about are the same ones they chatter about on the TV — is Obama Making a Mistake by speaking in the stadium because the heartland Americans (who they know and understand so well) will think he’s too big for his britches? What Must Hillary Do? How will Michelle Play in the Bowling Alleys? To say it’s bereft of substance is to understate the case dramatically.

Digby was on some "media vs. bloggers" panel yesterday with Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter and the Post’s Chris Cilizza and — after Alter ranted that bloggers, to cite Digby’s summary, "have a psychological condition called ‘disinhibition’ — like Alzheimers patients" (as contrasted with the extreme psychological health and balance displayed by Alter when he demanded, in an article excerpted at length by Digby, that the U.S. Government torture people) — this is what happened:

Ari Melber asked the pertinent question about how a reporter can possibly fail to call out illegal and immoral acts like wiretapping and torture for what they are, under some misguided definition of objectivity or neutrality. Cilizza answered the question honestly, admitting that they don’t do a good job of it.

When Cilizza said "they don’t do a good job of it," what he was referring to was "reporting on and covering what the Government of the U.S. actually does." If they don’t do that well, what do they do well? And Cilizza is right — they don’t do a "good job" of that because they don’t do it at all (along those lines, Jerry and Joe Long have a super-concise and appropriately acerbic post on just some of the media’s Convention behavior that is quite worth reading).

John McCain himself, and especially those who whisper foreign policy wisdom in his ear, have long had a lengthy list of New Enemies We Must Confront in the World — beyond those we’re already fighting. They not only want to add China, but now especially Russia, to that list, without the slightest concern for the severe degradation they have already imposed on the U.S. military and America’s economic security (but, Lieberman and Graham warn, Russia will go bankrupt if they have a 10-day border skirmish with a neighboring state). But infantile calls for Standing Tall in the Face of American Enemies and Not Blinking is still the definition of Seriousness in American political discourse, and the pure derangement and extremism that lies at the heart of this McCain foreign policy mentality will thus continue to go largely unexamined.

New York Governor Destroyed Over Threat To Probe Larry Silverstein
Reports consuming the US propaganda media organs and political elite today are centering upon the charges leveled against the Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, and who is said to have paid for the services of a high priced prostitute.

FSB reports circulating in the Kremlin today, however, point to a much more sinister effort behind the toppling of Governor Spitzer as he had just begun a new More.. probe into Larry Silverstein, the owner of the World Trade Center brought down in the September 11, 2001 attacks upon the US, and the Bush Families Carlyle Group.

The focus of Governor Spitzers investigation, these reports state, revolve around the growing crisis embroiling the Carlyle Group as it nears total collapse and is facing insolvency due to Larry Silverstones withdrawal of over $14 billion from the embattled groups coffers, and which could see the loss to New York States already troubled massive pension fund of over $10 billion.

Governor Spitzer has long battled with the former comptroller for New York States Pension Fund, Alan G. Hevesi, who holds duel Israeli-American citizenship, and prompted a US Federal Probe that charged Comptroller Hevesi of using the over $100 billion of funds entrusted to him for the personal benefit of his friends and family, and to which Mr. Hevesi pled guilty for and paid a $5,000 fine.

Prior to his taking office as New York States Governor, these reports continue, Mr. Spitzer, as a prosecutor, had long targeted the United States Banking System for their vast theft of money from the American people, and had won billions in judgments against Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Salomon Smith Barney and UBS Warburg.

It is more than interesting to note, too, that these are the exact same International Banking Giants who are now reeling under the Global assault against them, with Bear Stearns becoming the latest victim, and as we can read as reported by Britains Independent News Service:

“Panic swept the credit markets on reports of an insolvency crunch at both the US investment bank Bear Stearns and the mortgage giant Fannie Mae, triggering a dramatic surge in default insurance and rumours of yet another emergency rate cut by the US Federal Reserve.”

As Governor Spitzer becomes yet another victim to vast power of the Wests war, political and media elite assault against him, and by their introduction of sex charges against him, as they have done to so many of their adversaries in order to destroy their credibility, the truest warnings of these events to the American people will no doubt be lost, again.

And, with the most dangerous of these warnings coming from the Worlds richest man, Warren Buffet, and as we can read as reported by the Market Watch News Service in their article titled “Buffett and Gross warn: $516 trillion bubble is a disaster waiting to happen”, and which says:

“In short, despite Buffett’s clear warnings, a massive new derivatives bubble is driving the domestic and global economies, a bubble that continues growing today parallel with the subprime-credit meltdown triggering a bear-recession.

Data on the five-fold growth of derivatives to $516 trillion in five years comes from the most recent survey by the Bank of International Settlements, the world’s clearinghouse for central banks in Basel, Switzerland. The BIS is like the cashier’s window at a racetrack or casino, where you’d place a bet or cash in chips, except on a massive scale: BIS is where the U.S. settles trade imbalances with Saudi Arabia for all that oil we guzzle and gives China IOUs for the tainted drugs and lead-based toys we buy.”

There used to be a time when warnings were prudent to be given to the American people so that they could, in some small measure, protect themselves, but, and sadly, those times are now gone as these people have nearly completed their descent into the abyss of total slavery to their masters with virtually no knowledge of the horrific future that lies before them.

    2. PopARF Says:

What friggin fletchers! I don’t understand why people just submit to being lied too and taken advantage of. We the People just sit around with our thumbs up our butts and just agree that government lies to us daily and we let them do it, over and over and over and over again!

    3. John Q. Public Says:

Does anyone else notice that there is no more care about the shape of the US, and all the care about what the so-called world is?

If I’m not mistaken, aren’t the candidates running for President of the US?

I wasn’t aware that we were electing the next world leader.

The poor people of the US don’t have a clue, and could care less about their demise.

    4. Kev Says:

I never thought that I would advocate violence. The thing is, to protect ourself and future generations on this planet we must take the weeds from the garden and give the garden a chance to heal. The time is growing short to stand up to these crazy individuals that wish to destroy literally everything on Earth. Everyone that reads this must realize that we are facing total annihilation of THE HUMAN RACE if this is allowed to go on. When cancer is diagnosed then invasive surgery is needed to get it out… it is time for that surgery. The time has come for people to take back their freedom and right to living on a beautiful planet in peace and security. Enough of the debates and book reading…. I am sure we have done it all between the majority of us? Action is now needed and in great magnitude…. What say YOU?

    6. Revolution Says:

How do you speak with family or friends who see a world government as a natural thing. I don’t have the eloquent way to convincing “one world gov” is bad. What do you say when they things like “I’m for a one world government if it means no more wars” In a way, I agree with that premiss.

    10. Terry Lee Says:

#3: You sir, are an idiot. “The poor people of the US don’t have a clue, and could care less about their demise.” Spoken like a true s--- head…

FYI: This ISN’T just about the US, these people are figureheads to a much bigger organization. Much of the evil that is the NWO is taking place either directly or indirectly through North America because of it’s “status quo”.

First of all, these people aren’t being elected, they’re electing themselves. Second of all, both parties are equally corrupt in the long-run as they work for the same shadow government. Third of all, what happens here does affect the rest of the world because it’s not the US that’s the enemy, it is the underlying agenda that’s formed by the leaders of MANY COUNTRIES who’s sole purpose is obtain god-like power over THE WORLD and enforce their will upon the ENTIRE POPULOUS.

This is no secluded, random problem, your country will be affected by this no matter where you are provided these people’s corrupt wishes become true. Chances are, it’s already started.

It time to care, or time to start digging graves for you and your loved ones… choose wisely.

    11. Crazy Redneck Says:

#6 I once thought the same thing. After I thought about it extensively, I’ve come up with the following conclusion.

One World Government…hmmm…no congress or judicial branch…just an executive…Would we have retained what little freedom we currently have remaining had the framers not been so mindful to institute our system (which is now laughable) of checks and balances? A single government entity, unchecked, would have the power to do whatever it wants. We would fall under the same laws as the rest of the world, have our firearms seized and would have no means to fight back against a single world power, which would have the military might of every country on earth.

I think God saw this and was part of the reason when the tower of Babel was toppled and the people scattered with the separation of language. He did us a favor. No matter what, there will be those with opposing views. But world hegemony, even with opposing views would give no recourse to attack, whether by law or by military force.

I would much rather live with the live with the inherent danger that comes with being a free man, than to be ruled by despotism.

    12. Mike Says:

Lieberman and Lindsey Graham are delusional war mongering pigs.

    13. Are We Awake? Says:

I hear many cheer aht Russia did a great job and slapped the NWO in the mouth, bulls---. What most forget is that the Illumanati has been planning this NWO for thousands of years. They have acheived much because they have plans on top of plans, have operatives in all Governments including Russia.

They control the Banks, which controlls the war funds. Sure Russia may have funds, but when they run out, the war gets info full swing, and they need to rebuild, the Illumanati will be right there offering their money to rebuild. all the hunmanitarian orgs are connected to the Illumanati, and they will do their part.

Simple folks, there ain’t no good guys in all of this, and the NWO is coming. Watch for it, you will see another false flag operation, you will see another terror attack no matter who gets into the white house, or should I say who is appointed. You will see martial law, micro chiping, and the population being killed off.

if you want to kow how the few can control the many, just look at any corporate system works, all parymids, and the government works the same way. if you are not familiar with that look at FEMA’s Incident Command System. Each leader controos five for a span of control, those five control five and so on. There are systems within systems, and they have done their job well.

    14. T0D0 Says:

There is no NWO. It’s just a fairy tale, or a ridiculous oversimplification of a complex power structure.

    15. ditto Says:

U.S. lawmakers can make all the “threats” they want. I just read a web-article at http://www.atimes.com/atimes/C.....8Ag01.html stating the Russian response,in so many words, as “BRING IT ON!”. I guess most people forget that the former U.S.S.R. lost the cold war because of bad economic policies. This time the Russians got their economic house in order & they’re ready for another Cold War turned hot. This time the Russians are saying “ready or not here I come”.

    23. PNW Outback Says:

As I have feared for several years now the US Empire will not go away quietly. It appears that instead it will start flailing at all of its perceived “enemies’ which will lead to it lobbing nukes at said “enemies”. In the words of Scot Ritter “once the nuclear genie comes out of the bottle it ain’t going back in”.

We are being set up for total nuclear annihilation (regardless of who the next president is)…the “FEMA Camps” are for those who are left behind after the destruction. The NWO plan for the continental US is to turn it back into the “wild west” so the NWO elites can go on hunting trips and enjoy the natural beauty without having to deal with a bunch of sheeple. The leftover sheeple will be put into “work camps” to produce weapons for the “World Army”.

Things appear to be going according to plan…they are stoking up the Russians to get then to nuke the USA out of existence.

Iran and Syria will be blasted into Oblivion. Russia and China will not be defeated on the oher hand. Our government will have to compromise with them after the bloodshed of many. But in the End Russia and China will cease to exist when they come against Israel.

    26. StorybookAlibi Says:

I know this may make me sound ignorant and uninformed, but didn’t Georgia attack Russia first. Seems like I remember reading about it a few weeks ago. What happened? Why is it all about Russia now? Wouldn’t America destroy Mexico if the Mexicans attacked Texas? Would America then be painted as the aggressor or the defender? I think Russia’s getting a bad wrap in all of this twisted up craziness.

    27. Amystical1 Says:

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) might have to borrow money from the Treasury Department to see it through an expected wave of bank failures, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Hmmm? So the FDIC was created to insure depositers and now the US Treasury will have to borrow into existence money from the illegal private cartel, federal reserve, that is neither federal or has reserves whereby it can/and will grant the US Treasury a loan by allowing the printing of federal reserve notes (similar to monopoly money but actually more worthless cuz of interest charged) so as to insure the FDIC that is suppose to insure the depoisters? Have I got that right? Can somebody please explain why we, as a free(?) nation would have need of an illegal private bank charging interest on money it creates out of nothing and charging interest on it whereby the US citizens can not ever be able to repay cuz the $ in circulation does not include the % owed and therefore can never be repaid with such a system (usury–zionist) in place? We the people have obviously been deceived and used…very used! Down with Zionism, Up with the US Constitution!Peace.
