Washington State to Levy “Global Warming” Tax on Drivers

Vehicle licensing fees in Washington State could spike dramatically, all in the name of global warming. Six Seattle Democrats in the state Senate are trying to push through a bill that would require the Department of Licensing to collect a greenhouse gas tax. Sponsors say the tax in Senate Bill 6923 is an effective way to fight global warming by giving the state more money to fund transportation alternatives. If it passes, there will be an extra tax on your yearly license tab fees, based on EPA estimated miles per gallon your vehicle gets. The bill states vehicles getting below 15 miles per gallon will be charged between $200 and $240 extra every year. Vehicles that get between 15 and 25 miles per gallon, will pay $100 to $180 dollars extra every year. Vehicles getting over 26 miles per gallon, will pay between $40 and $100 extra every year. Vehicles that don’t have an estimated fuel economy rating will be charged a fee based on engine size.

$hit I drive a corvette. I hope this never comes to Alabama. The world is supposed to be underwater anyway like it was durring the reighn of the dinosaurs. Imagine a world wide tropical paradice full of grenery with every herbivore and omnivore and therefore the carnivores getting very fat! That is the way it is supposed to be. The world today is an arrid semi desert enviroment.

GREENHOUSE GASES HAVE VIRTUALLY NOTHING TO DO WITH NATURAL GLOBAL WARMING!! These stupid young people that flock to the “evironmental movement” don’t even care about real science behind it, they just want to be the cool yuppies that will appear to make “change”.

Lucky for me I drive a diesel Jetta and get 46MPG with snow tires, 48-50 with normal tires.
In my mind all you people who drive a car that gets anything less than 40MPG are sheeple buying into the automobile manufactures hype that they can’t make more fuel efficient gasoline or diesel powered cars. I have news for you! There are 3 mass produced vehicles that get over 100MPG, none are available in america.

Being a Washington resident I decided enough is enough. I called Olympia and voiced my opposition to this bill to Rep. Ericksen’s receptionist. She sent me a reply saying Ericksen is against this bill. From speaking with other citizens, it appears the bill may have little support. We have too many global warming idealists as law makers in this country. It’s time we cleaned house in every state. I know of no tax that has demonstrated any air cleaning properties This is just another money grab scheme that our elected “representatives” are constantly trying to push onto the citizens. Sponsors of these types of bills should be voted out of office without question. If engines are their concerns, maybe they should consider the airliners that fill the skies. Check out the stuff that pukes out of those guys on take-off from Sea-Tac International. Maybe they should run to Olympia with those numbers. Global warming is a satanic hoax, pure and simple!!

As a resident of Seattle I have to say.
Certainly the whole CO2 global warming link is a hoax but I support taxing drivers to subsidize the developement of better public transportation. However, I seem to remember that the state was supposed to put most of the revenues generated by the Washington State lottery into funding education. More than a decade later the education system sees less than 5% of these revenues. I expect this will work much the same way so WILL NOT support it. If I thought the state could be trusted to put the money where they say it will go I might support it.
Even if CO2 were really a problem planting trees or better yet hemp would be a much better way to make effective change than taxing the heck out of the entire globe.

This is ridiculous…The lumber industry is at full bore in WA state and
the Legislature wants to impose this B.S. tax on the residents? Global
Warming is a natural cycle. How can we be taxed for a hot sun? Cant
move across the river to Oregon. It is worse there. Just another scam
of the NWO consuming the states to make insane proclamations on the
