Gun laws only serve criminals. They keep guns in the hands of those that wish to commit crimes and harm others while keeping guns out of the hands of those who would use them wisely as defense. The war on drugs has done nothing to stop illegal drug use, and the war on guns has only emboldened criminals. Police cannot do the job, nor can they arrive in time to stop most crimes. The average law abiding citizen must be allowed to protect themselves. Gun laws do not work.

Yeah bud…read a book. It is illegal to own any type of firearm in the city of Washington DC. Yet DC is at the top of the list of murders committed with a firearm…DC is a pretty tough city…These people are not buying their guns at a gun store…they are buying them on the STREET! So yeah, bullets flew around my old neighborhood all the time and none of us had ANY means to protect ourselves.

Sorry, I almost got off track. The 2nd amendment was not for the purpose of hunting for food or protecting yourself from your neighbor. The 2nd amendment was put in place to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. So as I said, read a book. ANY HISTORY BOOK. Which is exactly what our founding fathers did. The saw that a disarmed populace have no recourse to illogical and tyrannical laws.

Ask yourself this question. Why are there Ghettos? Time after time Big government comes in & takes away peoples wealth, right to live peacefully & keep what they earn. Meanwhile those people are struggling to make ends meet & end up doing things they otherwise wouldn’t have to do. If these people had practiced their rights to bare arms then they wouldn’t be living in the ghettos. In fact ! There would be no Ghettos. I live in Wisconsin and this story is dated. There are several lawsuits against MPD for detaining second amendment open carriers and they’re backing off the policy. The entire state is actually working towards concealed carry and it’s going to happen after Doyle leaves office in 2010.

Princess just wants a response. He or she is just pushing our buttons. Why give him or her what they want?? The bottom line is that American Citizens have the individual RIGHT to OWN and USE firearms according to the Constitution, Amendment Two. Now, that said we must be rational and and admit that the type of firearms available at the time period late 18th century, were no where near as technologically advanced as todays. On the other hand our founding fathers were exceptionally bright and thoughful men who I’m sure were aware that there would be better firearms in the future. I personally own two pistols and a rifle. I do not own them for hunting. I carry my 9mm or .380 almost every day concealed. That is the law in CT. My Mini 14 is an in case of emergency weapon.
Now back to the Constitution. The founding fathers believed in states’ rights and by the 10tn Amendment allows each state to set limits and boundries on our right to own a firearm. That’s called democracy. In my state you have to pass a course and not be a convicted felon in order to get a concealed weapons permit. I’m O.K. with that society today is different than hundreds of years ago. I can still buy and own a rifle w/o a permitt as long as I’m not a convicted felon. I’m O.K. with this.
Let’s face it open carry does frighten people, maybe they shouldn’t be, but many people are. If you don’t like the laws of your state then work to get them changed. Remember repeating firearms were not even a reality at the writing of the Second Amendment. I believe that as rational, educated people we can set reasonable peramiters and limits that suit our specific city’s needs and our state’s needs. If a city or state goes too far then the courts will have to determine if local laws violate the Constitution. Pretty cool system huh? I think it’s called checks and balances.
Open carry is not necessary and the way the laws are written basically means that if your open carry causes others to be frightened or concerned than it is causing a disturbance. For God’s sake man, buy a nice Galco leather IWB and stop complaining!!! OR, you can move to a more gun friendly city or state for that matter. Yes, the constitution allows you to move around and find more like minded individuals as neighbors.

American P.R.I.N.C.E.S.S., we have a moral obligation to bear arms to defend our Consitution that does not give, but reaffirms the rights and privileges that God has granted to us. If we did not bear arms the government would have long ago taken over, stripped us of our rights, and turned us into a third world country. You have to understand that guns give us the power to defend ourselves against tyranny. Without that the government can take our military and do as they please. You need to read the history of gun control in every country. Just because we are America doesn’t mean that our politicans wouldn’t want to have control over us. What makes you think joining the military will make any difference? Obviously, you’ve never done so, or you’d know that it’s a violation of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) to carry a gun except as authorized by a commanding officer. When military personnel are not in a combat zone, unless they are military police, they are no more authorized to carry a handgun than anyone else is. When I was in the Air Force, in the early seventies, the very first day of basic training, I saw one of my squadron mates reprimanded by three drill instructors for having a handgun in his locker in the dorm. The rules prohibited us having firearms in our possession. If anything, when you’re in the military, you have even fewer rights than a civilian does.

The fact is, Americans need to be armed for self-defense like no other time in our history, right now. No one in government is on our side. We are alone against the NWO.

Hey princess having worked in Law enforcement during the LA Riots of 1992. The Business owners that used their fire arms to protect their property, KEPT their property. The people that relied on the police for protection, Lost their property. YOU are the first line of defense. The police show up after the crime has occured and take a report. That’s right. We ARE the militia. At the time the Second Amendment was written, the militia was drawn from the population. There was no standing army and there was no budget for weapons and ammunition, so every member of the citizen militia was required to furnish their own weapons and ammo. Thus, every man had to be armed. That’s why it says: “A well regulated [well equipped and trained] militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

The second Amendment has it purpose, although many of you have never learned the true reason for it. It is simply there to prevent the government from becoming to powerful or tyrannical. Any of you that are suggesting that the removal of the 2nd Amendment would stop gun violence or crime are willfully ignorant. You blame crime on an inanimate object and wishfully think that removing that object will remove crime. Check this Wikipedia definition of “militia”. The entire able-bodied population of a community, town, county, or state, available to be called to arms.
A subset of these who may be legally penalized for failing to respond to a call-up.
A subset of these who actually respond to a call-up, regardless of legal obligation.

So when the government, or law enforcement, or whomever, tells you that a militia is the “national guard”, understand that the NG is a branch of the military. Therefore, by defnition WE ARE ALL members of the militia. Ever watch the movie The Patriot? Remember when they called up the militia, which was in fact any able bodied person, to fight? You know nothing about the military. The fact is, most enlistees wind up in support roles and are stationed stateside. I was, during Vietnam. The military has all kinds of jobs and only a small percentage of them are combat-oriented. This was especially the case when I was in the Air Force. Less than 1% of Air Force personnel during the Vietnam War were combat pilots. The rest of us were support personnel, everyone from mechanics to cooks to photo lab technicians (my job) to desk jockeys to firemen, and so on. Any military base is like a small, self-contained, self-sufficient city with its own police and fire protection, and it requires people working in all capacities to function. This is where the majority of those who join the military wind up, not on the battlefield.

Gary you are so right. I was in one of those few military combat oriented no women allowed units. Most Air force are button pushers, remote control, and survalance units. I was in one of the combat units. One week before I got out we went on a top secret mission to South American(not telling where) with a 24 man unit. 8 were shot and evacuated. Most Air Force personel would be wiped out if a direct ground attack were to happen on an Air Force base. Most Air Force personell are in pitiful shape whether they know it or not. I was the 3 fastest man on Nellis AFB without and exercise hardly.

I don’t know if American P.R.I.N.C.E.S.S. is just trying to get a nice, educational discussion going or if he/she is really serious. That said, I have heard similar sentiments from many members of our younger generations in the past two years and fear that the “anti-gun/anti-ammo” infection is spreading at an alarming rate. Almost as quickly as the invasion through our southern border, which, by the way, continues to be funded by your tax dollars. Yet I still hear people say that we no longer need protection from a tyrannical government. Boy, do I beg to differ.

Good point, Guardian, and I would further this discussion by asking where is the response by this group “The Oathkeepers?” I haerd an interview wit hthe head of the organiation talking about their big upcoming meeting in one of the Station Casino Hotels in Las Vegas. Seems to me they should have their meeting in PA, where so many of their brethren decided to follow tyrannical orders against unarmed citizens.

Where is the letter from the Oathkeepers to this criminal chief of police? (lower case intentional) Where is their open letter to the local newspaper? Meetings and lip service don’t stop this new protected class of criminals.

You can carry anywhere, according to the Second Amendment. That’s your concealed carry permit. You have an inalienable right to defend your life by any means necessary, regardless of any laws or documents. I too am from NJ and I have just done that 3 weeks ago I have my plans set for around christmas time a gift for my family. A new start in life no more tax slave just tax payer. I live in Rutherford a beautiful historic town located 8 miles from NYC I seen the towers colapse My mother worked in NYC she takes the path train to The WTC then walkes. Checkpoint all over, eh? Where? What specific locations have checkpoints? There are none here in Seattle and there were none in Oklahoma City, where I lived most of my life before coming here. I drove over 2,000 miles to get here, over a period of three days, across seven states and never encountered any checkpoints anywhere. In fact, I saw very few police along they way and the only soldiers I saw were in a small convoy of humvees returning to Ft. Lewis in Washington as I was nearing the Seattle area. Stop taking everything Jones says literally and get out and take a walk or something.

What should I do if a couple of cops and/or military personel come to my doorstep and ask/tell me to give them my weapons without a warent.
Or if they kick doun my door if I say “No I have a right to keep and bare arms unter the 2nd aminment, and until you ligaly come and ask/tell .”
Or while this is happening, I see military units all over the streets with cops/solders at every doorstep asking/telling the same thing. In other words when the S.H.T.F.

It is a natural right guaranteed by the 2nd amendment of the constitution – a contract We the People made with the government. Violating my rights is a breech of contract. You can make whatever excuses you like for the government, but that doesn’t change the facts. State laws are a different matter, but I’m pretty sure most State constitutions have the same guarantee.

It is legal for you to defend yourself even if the attacker is wearing a uniform. The courts have ruled this is within your right.
If you need to take action to defend yourself, please aim for the head. People in uniform usually wear body armor and it would be a waste of a bullet if you don’t try to take them out in the first shot. Ammunition is in short supply because of laws they are passing against your second amendment rights.

The question you have to ask yourself, are you willing to die to protect your freedom? I already told my family, I will die. As long as I know that I at least have taken out one of the goons that tried to take my firearms away. Force, needs to be met with same amount of force. 1) Everyone arrested after the ruling should sue the municipality for acting under the color of law.

2) Everyone arrested after the ruling should sue the individual officers for violating their civil rights by acting under the color of law. The police know they are acting in violation of the Constitution and state law, therefore no defense.

3) Police officers of this mindset will be on the losing end once the $hit hits the fan. Normally I respect the police and what they do, but this is egregious.

First of all, felons who are convicted of wire fraud and various other federal white collar crimes are NOT precluded from carrying firearms. Second of all, it takes probable cause to “put somebody down on the ground” and to “seize” that person. A suspicion is not probable cause. This “officer safety” thing has gone tooooooo far.
Third, the U.S. supreme court recommends that those “police” who don’t operate with “probable cause” not be treated as “peace officers” but that they be treated as any other hood trying to assault you. If lethal force is used to fend off such an attack, the court claims you cannot be charged with anything higher than manslaughter. This makes most of the states “cop killer” laws blatantly unconstitutional.
Now, if you think I’m defending people like Poplowski, keep in mind the police WERE investigating a domestic dispute and that they DID have probable cause to be there. Just recently moved here and I see people open carrying all the time. I am yet to try and reach out and meet any other Patriot in this area but I know there must be many. It is time we all ban together and prepare on a mass level for what is to come. I do not advocate a Revolution unless we The People are forced and have no idea if we would actually stand a chance to revolt.

By law, we are required to open carry should we so choose to carry a firearm. But people who open carry are harassed and sometimes arrested by police.

Why are emotions being used to determine the law? If someone feels “disturbed” by a law abiding citizen with a holstered weapon that is legally being carried, they were disturbed in the head to begin with. Simple thing to do. Demand the cops name and badge number. Flat out tell them you WILL be filing a lawsuit against them PERSONALLY for violating your 2nd amendments right and violating Wisconsin state law that ALLOWS you to open carry. I did this with a cop in Madison and stood up to him. Told him go ahead arrest me, but be prepared to lose your job, your house and your savings. He eventually backed down and let me go. You just have to take the chance to stand up for your rights to be affraid of these guys – our founding fathers weren’t affraid of the british and stood up to them didn’t they?! If you don’t stand up for your rights – what good are they… Carry a pocket copy of the constitution and bill of rights with you at ALL times. You would be surprised how that helps you.
