Al-Qaeda is becoming less active in Yemen as members of this international terrorist organization have began moving to other unstable countries of the Middle East, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi has said.
“It’s worth mentioning that al-Qaeda is becoming less active in Yemen thanks to the efforts of Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries in comparison with 2011 and 2012 when al Qaeda members managed to occupy Abyan province and even create their own government there,” Hadi told in an interview to the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper published on Friday.
According to the Yemeni President, government forces managed to clear Abyan from terrorist group members. However, terrorists changed their tactics and started carrying out separate attacks which occur throughout the country from time to time.
