Rep. Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township, once again earned the Republican nod for congressman for Michigan’s 3rd District by defeating fellow Republican challenger Brian Ellis on Tuesday.

Amash won 39,640 votes, compared to 29,386 to Ellis.

In Montcalm County, Amash snuck by Ellis by just one vote, 174 to 173. In Ionia County, Amash took home 55.8 percent of the votes (2,591 to 2,041).

Here are the results from the other three counties that make up Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District.

Barry County: Amash 3,624, Ellis: 2,874

Calhoun County: Amash 4,868 Ellis 4,256

Kent: Amash 28,383 Ellis 20,042

Amash will now face Democrat Bob Goodrich of Kentwood in November’s general election.
