Criminal background checks for firearm sales in Colorado were in the thousands on Black Friday.

By the end of the evening, 3,804 checks had been processed by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, according to the bureau’s social media updates.

The shopping day after Thanksgiving is the busiest for the unit that processes the gun checks, according to officials.
