A suspect was shot Saturday morning by a Phoenix resident who said he intercepted a burglary, police said.
At about 5 a.m., a patrol officer heard gunshots and responded to a residential area in the area of 51st Avenue and McDowell Road. He made contact with a resident who said he interrupted an attempted burglary.
The resident told police that a woman tried to burglarize a work vehicle and he intervened. An altercation occurred and the resident fired multiple shots at the woman, striking her at least once. She sustained non life-threatening injuries, police said.
