DETROIT (WWJ) – Authorities say a customer turned the tables on a would-be robber during a hold-up at a Detroit gas station, fatally shooting the crook.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday at a Mobil gas station on 7 Mile Road and Meyers, on the city’s west side.

The 29-year-old victim told police he was trying to buy cigarettes at the station’s outside service window when the suspect approached and attempted to rob him. The man told police he pulled out a gun and shot the suspect several times.
